Chapters 1–25 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 1Divine-Level Copy System

Obito endured another reprimand at the Ninja Academy before learning that the system he had waited two and a half years for had finally finished loading. The divine-level copy system gave him two chances to copy an ability from anyone within two hundred meters.

  • Obito fell asleep during Liangtian's lesson, and Rin woke him after he asked whether class was over.
  • Liangtian punished Obito by assigning him classroom cleaning for the week, while the other students watched and laughed.
  • Obito recalled that Chen Fan's soul had entered his body two and a half years earlier and that helping elderly women on the way to school often made him late.
  • Obito silently taunted Hokoku Shimura, who became furious and planned to teach him a lesson.
  • The divine-level copy system finished loading and told Obito he could copy one ability from anyone within two hundred meters, granting him two copying opportunities.

Ch. 2Awakening the Mangekyō

Obito discovered that his copying system gave him ordinary skills unless he had strong intimacy with his target, then used its beginner’s gift pack to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. The lesson ended with Rin offering to help him clean the classroom.

  • Obito copied Might Guy’s handstand-eating skill and Asuma’s cigarette-brand identification skill, then learned powerful abilities required greater intimacy with the target.
  • Obito complained about the system’s long absence, and it gave him a beginner’s gift pack with eye power and five copying chances.
  • Obito opened the eye power gift pack and rapidly awakened the One-Tomoe, Two-Tomoe, Three-Tomoe, and Mangekyō Sharingan, gaining the Eye of Kamui.
  • Rin mistook Obito’s suppressed laughter for sadness and offered to stay behind to help him clean the classroom.
  • The lesson ended, and the students rushed out of the classroom.

Ch. 3Hokoku's provocation

Teacher Liangtian held a ninja tool throwing practice, and Hokoku Shimura provoked Obito into accepting a shuriken match and a later sparring challenge. Obito agreed to a month of toilet cleaning for whoever lost, and the shuriken throwing began.

  • Liangtian had Asuma, Kurenai Yuhi, and Might Guy throw kunai, then announced their scores.
  • Liangtian called Obito Uchiha, Mitaraishi Anko, and Hokoku Shimura to take their turns.
  • Hokoku challenged Obito to a later sparring match, and Obito accepted.
  • Hokoku set a month of toilet cleaning as the wager, while their classmates watched and reacted to the challenge.
  • Liangtian ordered Obito, Hokoku, and Anko to begin throwing their shuriken.

Ch. 4Obito gets full marks

Obito surprised his classmates and Teacher Liangtian by earning a perfect score in kunai throwing after years of training. His performance exposed a hidden skill he had deliberately kept concealed to avoid attracting the attention of Konoha’s leadership.

  • Obito, Mitaraishi Anko, and Baoguo Shimura threw their kunai, and Anko scored 90 while Baoguo scored 95.
  • Liangtian found all three of Obito’s kunai embedded in the bull’s-eye and announced that Obito had earned 100 points.
  • Asuma and Mizuki questioned the result, but Liangtian firmly confirmed that he had checked the right target.
  • Kurenai Yuhi rebuked Mizuki for criticizing Obito, while Anko remarked that Obito seemed more confident than before.
  • Obito watched his classmates react and reflected that he had trained in secret while hiding his abilities to avoid Konoha’s leaders and their surveillance.

Ch. 5I got careless and didn't dodge

Obito impressed the class with a perfect ninja tool throwing score, then faced Hokoku Shimura in a sparring match. Obito blocked Hokoku’s attacks and sent him staggering with a kick, but Hokoku charged at him again.

  • Hokoku Shimura checked Obito’s targets and realized his perfect score was genuine, changing the other students’ opinions of Obito.
  • Hokoku Shimura challenged Obito to a spar, while Mizuki tried to provoke him.
  • Shizune scored 92 in ninja tool throwing, Ibiki scored 86, and Mizuki scored 76 as the class completed the test.
  • Liangtian began paired sparring and chose Obito and Hokoku Shimura to fight first.
  • Obito dodged Hokoku Shimura’s punch, blocked his kick, and struck his abdomen, sending him staggering backward.
  • Hokoku Shimura claimed he had been careless and charged at Obito again.

Ch. 6A First Try at Genjutsu

Obito used his Three-Tomoe Sharingan to turn Baoguo Shimura's challenge around, then trapped him in a genjutsu that made him act like a prostitute. Baoguo approached their teacher, Liangtian, while Obito's classmates watched.

  • Baoguo Shimura attacked Obito with his Lightning Five-Strike Whip, but Obito activated his Three-Tomoe Sharingan and struck him.
  • Baoguo recognized Obito's Sharingan and considered giving up, but Obito and the watching students goaded him into continuing.
  • Obito used the Sharingan to predict Baoguo's attacks and repeatedly punched him, leaving his face bruised and swollen.
  • Baoguo lost his temper and charged Obito, who pretended to cast a past-life technique before activating a genjutsu.
  • Under Obito's genjutsu, Baoguo turned toward the students, flirted with Liangtian, and began tearing at his clothes.

Ch. 7Obito, the Dark Horse

Obito used his Three-Tomoe Sharingan to put Baoguo Shimura under a genjutsu, making him behave lewdly before Kurenai Yuhi released him. Obito emerged as a powerful dark horse, while Baoguo swore revenge and Liangtian grew suspicious of Obito's hidden strength.

  • Obito's genjutsu made Baoguo Shimura tear his clothes and lunge at Liangtian while the students laughed.
  • Liangtian restrained Baoguo and asked Kurenai Yuhi to examine him; she identified Obito's genjutsu and dispelled it.
  • Baoguo remembered his humiliating behavior, threatened Obito, and charged at him before Liangtian pinned him down again.
  • The students' opinion of Baoguo fell, while Obito gained attention as a promising ninja with the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
  • Baoguo vowed revenge, Liangtian resolved to report Obito to the Third Hokage, and Kurenai watched Obito with curiosity and admiration.

Ch. 8The Third Hokage, That Old Lecher

Obito left the academy with Rin after defeating Baoguo and awakening the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, while Baoguo and Mizuki stayed behind to clean the toilets. Teacher Liangtian reported Obito’s feat to Hiruzen Sarutobi, who rewarded him and took notice of Obito.

  • Obito and Rin finished cleaning the classroom, then Obito taunted Baoguo and Mizuki as they scrubbed the toilets.
  • Rin asked Obito how he had become so strong and awakened his Sharingan, and Obito claimed he had always been strong before offering to beat Baoguo up again if he upset her.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi was watching women bathe with a crystal ball when an attendant announced that Teacher Liangtian had come to see him.
  • Liangtian told Hiruzen that Obito had defeated Hokoku Shimura and awakened the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, which Hiruzen initially found hard to believe.
  • After Liangtian confirmed that the whole class had witnessed it, Hiruzen gave him a twenty-percent raise and murmured Obito’s name as Liangtian left.

Ch. 9Each with his own agenda

  • Obito shared dinner with his grandmother, who had made his favorite corn stewed ribs before his graduation exam.
  • Two Anbu-masked Root ninja arrived at Obito's home carrying gifts and said they had come on Danzo's instructions.

Ch. 11Traveling with Kamui

Obito declined Danzo’s invitation to join Root and used Kamui to travel to the Ninja Academy, where he unexpectedly stumbled upon his teacher Liangtian with a woman. The chapter ended with Obito recognizing Liangtian.

  • Obito politely turned down the Root ninjas’ recruitment offer, saying he needed time to think, and warned Grandmother that Root’s members were not good people.
  • Obito carried an old lady to her home on his way to school, accidentally knocked her unconscious, and fled when her son demanded 100,000 ryo.
  • Obito used a Kamui mark outside the Ninja Academy to travel there quickly instead of arriving late.
  • Obito emerged from the bushes near a disheveled man and woman, then recognized the man as his homeroom teacher, Liangtian.

Ch. 12Obito became famous

Obito exposed Teacher Liangtian and Teacher Keiko by setting a thicket ablaze, then arrived at school to find himself famous for awakening the Three-Tomoe Sharingan. When Kurenai Yuhi asked to train with him, the system ordered him to deliver an embarrassing invitation or lose all his copying opportunities, leaving him calling after her as she turned away.

  • Obito used Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique to ignite dry grass, then shouted for help and exposed Liangtian and Keiko together in the thicket.
  • Students and teachers praised Obito’s newly awakened Three-Tomoe Sharingan as he entered the school and became the subject of gossip.
  • Rin congratulated Obito, and Kurenai Yuhi asked him to train with her after class.
  • Asuma mourned Kurenai Yuhi’s interest in Obito, while Mizuki urged Hokoku Shimura to retaliate against him.

  • Rin linked arms with Kurenai Yuhi and reassured her that Obito had not meant any harm.

Ch. 14Public opinion turns against Hatake Sakumo

Obito, Rin, and Kurenai heard villagers publicly blame Hatake Sakumo for a failed mission, while Rin objected to their cruel gossip. After Rin left to help at her family’s shop, Obito continued on alone with Kurenai to get ramen.

  • Kurenai agreed with Rin that Obito was dumb, and the two girls left the classroom together while Obito hurried after them.
  • Hokoku Shimura and Mizuki stayed behind to clean the toilets because Hokoku had lost a bet to Obito and wanted to keep his promise.
  • Obito, Rin, and Kurenai heard villagers accuse Hatake Sakumo of abandoning a mission and causing losses for Konoha.
  • Rin said people should not bad-mouth Sakumo, even if he had made a mistake, and Obito agreed with her.
  • Obito invited Rin and Kurenai to eat ramen and train, but Rin left to help her mother at the shop, so Obito went with Kurenai.

Ch. 15Three Idiots

Obito and Kurenai ate ramen together after she explained that her father had encouraged them to train together. Outside the shop, three men sent by Shimura Baoguo tried to frame Obito, but he exposed their identities, and the confrontation remained unresolved.

  • Obito asked Kurenai why she had wanted to train with him, and she explained that her father, Shinku Yuhi, hoped their shared interest in Genjutsu would benefit her.

  • Obito quietly told Kurenai that Root members had brought him gifts and considered stringing Danzo along for more.
  • Danzo entered with Baoguo, announced that Baoguo would be punished, and praised Obito’s Sharingan and the Uchiha Clan.
  • Danzo ordered Baoguo to apologize to Obito, and Baoguo reluctantly did so.
  • Obito pretended not to hear Baoguo’s first apology, then accepted it while calling Baoguo pathetic for seeking adult help.
  • Danzo promised to scold Baoguo again and asked Hiruzen whether the matter was settled.

Ch. 21Talking with Fugaku

After leaving the Hokage Office Building, Obito walked home with Fugaku, who explained the Uchiha Clan’s strained position in Konoha and said he valued Obito’s talent. Obito copied two of Fugaku’s Fire Release techniques but decided to postpone getting involved in the clan’s troubles.
