• Orochimaru and the former Akatsuki members entered the underground cavern and reunited with Nagato and Konan.

• Zou Hyuga briefed the group on the war and warned that a hostile Otsutsuki in Amegakure threatened the village and could not be overcome by Impure World Reincarnation.
• Sasori and Orochimaru agreed to face the Otsutsuki for their own reasons, while Shinnō had no real choice but to join the mission.

• An Intelligence Division ninja reported that more than ten thousand White Zetsu and hundreds of reanimated ninjas, including Hatake Sakumo and Torifu Akimichi, were approaching Konoha.

Hiashi and Hizashi confronted Hatake Sakumo as Fugaku’s forces fought through the forest and sealed Torifu Akimichi. In Konoha, the jinchūriki Pain bodies found the Nine-Tails and Seven-Tails Jinchuriki, but were trapped inside a Four Violet Flames Formation.

• Kosuke left Hiashi and Hizashi to reinforce another defensive line after Hiashi said they could handle Hatake Sakumo.
• Fugaku led Uchiha elites through the woods, using Fire Release and genjutsu against White Zetsu and reanimated ninja.
• Fugaku formed a Susanoo and fought Torifu Akimichi while the Uchiha elites joined in with Chakra Cloaks.
• The Uchiha elites tripped and weakened Torifu Akimichi, then sealed him in a scroll.

Jiraiya used Sage Mode and an Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan to cripple the Jinchūriki Pain trapped inside Konoha’s Four Violet Flames Formation, but they escaped before he could finish them. Outside the village, Black Zetsu learned the infiltration had failed and that the tailed-beast jinchūriki were not in Konoha.

• The reincarnated Second Hokage’s Mutually Multiplying Explosive Tags battered the Jinchūriki Pain inside the Four Violet Flames Formation, and Jiraiya arrived to attack them.
• Jiraiya entered Sage Mode with Fukasaku and Shima, then struck the Jinchūriki Pain with an Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan and broke the Black Rods from a defeated body.
• The remaining Jinchūriki Pain vanished using the Summoning Technique, and Sage Fukasaku told Jiraiya that the Great Toad Sage was gravely unwell and could not perceive the destinies of more and more ninja.

Asuma watched Taro Utada summon the Tailed Beast Merchant Association’s armored ninja to help defend Daimyō Castle from the White Zetsu. As the battle turned in the defenders’ favor, a powerful Ice Release attack began, leaving Asuma wondering what other strength the association possessed.

• The Land of Fire Daimyō refused to evacuate while he and Taro Utada finished their shogi game, claiming he would not abandon his people.
• Asuma met the Daimyō and Taro on the Tenshu, where they discussed the White Zetsu attack and Taro’s mysterious president.
• At the Daimyō’s urging, Taro used a Fire Release signal flare to summon the Tailed Beast Merchant Association’s forces.
• Ninja in Chakra Armor marched to the gates and joined the defenders, using tachi and C-rank ninjutsu against the White Zetsu.

Naruto and Sasuke encountered the reanimated Mito Uzumaki on Turtle Island, where Killer B fought to protect Naruto. Meanwhile, Zou Hyuga completed preparations for his chakra-draining plan and noticed Turtle Island had changed course toward the Land of Water.

• Naruto and Sasuke attacked Mito with ninjutsu, but her sealing jutsu easily stopped them until Killer B arrived and urged them to retreat.
• Naruto and Sasuke withdrew, and Sasuke warned Naruto that Mito possessed immense chakra while Naruto sensed that she reminded him of his mother.

Zou Hyuga intervened as Mito Uzumaki, controlled by Black Zetsu, defeated Killer B and moved to capture Naruto. After Zou forced Black Zetsu out of Mito, she regained consciousness and asked what year it was and what had happened.

• Zou Hyuga sensed Killer B fighting Mito Uzumaki on Turtle Island, secretly redirected the Giant Sea Turtle, and approached Naruto and Sasuke.
• Black Zetsu concluded Killer B might be a clone and ordered Mito to capture Naruto after binding Killer B with Adamantine Sealing Chains.
• Mito cornered Naruto and Sasuke at a cliff, where Sasuke spotted Zou Hyuga hiding above them.
• Zou told Black Zetsu he had destroyed the Rinnegan and would take Naruto, then forced Black Zetsu out of Mito's consciousness.
• Mito regained control and asked Zou what year of Konoha it was and what had happened.

Mito Uzumaki learned that the shinobi world had united against Madara Uchiha and accepted Zou Hyuga after Naruto vouched for him. As Konoha’s defense ended, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Fugaku left through the Flying Thunder God Formation to reinforce the main battlefield.

• Mito Uzumaki recognized Naruto as Kushina’s son and asked him to explain what had happened to Konoha.
• Sasuke told Mito that the Five Great Shinobi Villages had joined forces to fight Madara Uchiha in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
• Zou Hyuga revealed that Hashirama and Madara’s chakra could be sensed in the shinobi world, and Naruto identified Zou’s Flying Thunder God kunai as a gift from his father, the former Fourth Hokage.

Oto Uchiha fought Madara while pretending to consider joining him, using the negotiation to secure the right to run for Hokage. After she rejected his offer, Madara prepared to face her with his full Susanoo.

• Oto arrived and attacked Madara with a Susanoo enhanced by senjutsu, matching his Susanoo and surprising him.
• Madara offered Oto a place in his Eye of the Moon Plan, but she bargained for her clan to join Konoha and the right to run for Hokage in exchange for defeating him.
• The Third Hokage agreed that Oto could run for Hokage after the war, while the Third Tsuchikage and Fourth Raikage offered her their own villages’ Kage positions.

• The Five Kage withdrew from the clash, then lent their chakra to Ōnoki so he could use Dust Release against Madara's Susanoo.

• Obito told Madara that Nagato had joined another side and that a mysterious Rinnegan wielder was a threat, then Madara failed to summon the Nine-Tails because it remained inside its jinchūriki.
