Earth, deep beneath the Pacific Ocean.
A strange patch of open ground had appeared here, as though a transparent wall kept the seawater out while supplying oxygen. They could even see Sea Monsters roaming in the distance.
"So, we're going to fake our deaths for a while?"
Yang Zheng sat cross-legged on the open ground, with Luo Feng and the other five sitting beside him in a circle.
Jia Yi asked the question. The other four remained silent. They had little connection with Yang Zheng, and the burly, purple-eyed man behind him was far too intimidating.
"That's right. Humanity's victory was a great one, but there are always some filthy scoundrels eager to steal the fruits of others' labor."
Humans were complicated beings, like opposite ends of a spectrum. There were noble heroes willing to burn themselves out for the greater good, and petty individuals who schemed for their own benefit.
If they were merely selfish schemers, Yang Zheng would not have bothered with them. After all, he was hardly a shining paragon himself. But reaching for heroes' families out of self-interest was the one line they should never cross.
"Don't worry. I'll have people watching over your families in secret. Nothing will happen to them."
Apart from Ister, the other four looked hesitant. Luo Feng, meanwhile, seemed distracted, clearly communicating with Babata.
"You can also use this opportunity to cultivate. I'll cover all your cultivation resources during this time."
With a wave of Yang Zheng's hand, barrels of deep-blue Pure Wood Liquid appeared before the five of them. They contained pure life energy, though how much they could absorb would depend on their own abilities.
It was only five barrels of Pure Wood Liquid. They were not even worth half a Ganwu coin.
Virtual Space.
Yang Zheng and Luo Feng appeared at the same time. This was the Virtual Space Babata had built for them. Powerful though a Universe Master's Reverse Time and Space was, it still followed the rules of the universe origin.
Conversations in Virtual Space could not be uncovered through that method, though the Original Ancestor's Virtual Universe was an exception.
"Brother Yang, you want me to possess that Golden Horned Beast?" Luo Feng froze. Of course he knew what Possession was, but giving up being human to possess a Golden Horned Beast...
That... that made him feel rather uncomfortable.
"Luo Feng, I'm sure Babata has already told you something about the universe. It's brutally cruel out there. If Earth is discovered someday..."
Yang Zheng continued calmly, "If we're lucky, we'll become slaves. If we're unlucky, we'll all be wiped out."
Silence fell.
Through Babata, Luo Feng had learned some of the universe's harsh realities. Even Universe Level beings could become slaves, and Yang Zheng had bought more than two hundred Universe Level slaves with a mere wave of his hand.
The universe was not safe.
Without sufficient strength, protecting his family was out of the question. Even staying alive himself would be difficult. He could die at any moment.
A Star Level Golden Horned Beast less than a year old had nearly wiped out the Earth Humans.
"That Golden Horned Beast has an innate clone ability. After possessing it, you can nurture an Earthling Clone for yourself." Yang Zheng paused before continuing.
Yang Zheng had once considered possessing the Golden Horned Beast himself, but he had quickly dismissed the idea.
He did not know whether his Golden Finger, the [Cultivation Progress Bar], came from his body or from his soul and consciousness.
If possessing the Golden Horned Beast cost him his cheat, the loss would far outweigh the gain.
"Huh? A clone?"
Babata suddenly popped out. "Yang Zheng, where did you learn all this? This isn't the story we agreed on!"
"Shut up!"
Yang Zheng's expression darkened. He had discussed things with Babata beforehand because he feared that Reverse Time and Space might reveal something unusual. Their aim had been to talk Luo Feng into possessing the Golden Horned Beast.
After all, in a world where time and space could be reversed, anything spoken aloud was no longer a secret.
But Virtual Space was similar to telepathic communication. These forms of communication did not take place in the outside world, so Reverse Time and Space, which followed the operating laws of the universe origin, could not uncover them.
Yang Zheng was not particularly worried about Reverse Time and Space exposing his transmigration. He was still alive and well, and the Origin Will had not come looking for him.
There were only two possible explanations.
Either even the Origin Will had not noticed, and since a Universe Master's Reverse Time and Space was granted by the Origin Will, Universe Masters and True Gods were even less likely to discover what it had missed.
Or the supreme rule permitted it. In that case, the Origin Will would probably not allow a Universe Master to investigate.
In the end, Luo Feng did not immediately decide to possess the Golden Horned Beast. Xu Xin was already two months pregnant, and he wanted to wait until their two children were born before doing so.
"It's your decision!"
Yang Zheng stepped forward and patted his shoulder. "Go home quietly and spend some time with your family. Just tell them not to let anything show in public. I want to see how many petty clowns come crawling out this time."
"All right. I'll have them play along!"
Luo Feng nodded. He also wanted to know how many people would covet his inheritance after his "death."
Luo Feng quietly returned home to spend time with his family. Meanwhile, Jia Yi and the other four cultivated using the resources Yang Zheng had provided, making tremendous progress every day.
Yang Zheng also went home to let his family know he was safe and asked them not to tell anyone. After a quiet visit to the Limit Martial Hall, he returned to his cultivation room and resumed cultivating.
Time passed little by little.
The battle against the Golden Horned Beast had inflicted enormous losses on human society. Eight Base Cities had fallen, and more than a billion humans had died.
Even Huaxia Country had suffered nearly a million casualties.
The losses among humanity's strongest fighters were even greater. More than thirty Planetary Level Councilors had fallen, along with eight heroes, including Hong, Thunder God, and Luo Feng-the eight strongest humans.
With Hong and Thunder God in a deep slumber, showing not even any brain-wave activity, the two immense organizations, the Limit Martial Hall and the Thunder Dojo, were left without them or any other powerhouse capable of keeping everyone in line.
They immediately became tempting targets.
"Hmph. If they want it, let them have it." At Headquarters inside the enormous spaceship, the three personal guards and five Inspectors gathered together. Inspector Liu He sneered. "Let them reach out and take it first. We'll settle the score afterward."
"Then let's use this opportunity to purge those with disloyal intentions!" the masked personal guard Yao Rao said coldly.
"Exactly!"
"With Inspector Yang Zheng here, anyone harboring disloyal intentions will be swept away!"
Everyone present voiced their agreement. Hong's deep slumber had shut down the Palace of
War Gods, the link that had held them together. The global situation had grown even more chaotic, and quite a few people were secretly coveting the Limit Martial Hall.
Under these circumstances, they had all been worried. Yang Zheng's appearance had immediately put every one of them at ease.
Mysterious!
Powerful!
Oppressive!
Those were the impressions Yang Zheng had left on the eight Planetary Level fighters present. Even in Hong's presence, they had never felt such pressure.
