Northwest Base City, main urban district.
Huaxia Country had six human bases in total. Although Northwest Base City lay in the country's northwest and was the smallest of the Six Great Base Cities, it still had six satellite cities and supported no small population.
Before the SUV had traveled far, an enormous compound came into view.
Beyond the sprawling silver-white perimeter wall stood a towering, dark-blue skyscraper. Four enormous characters on its facade could be clearly seen from several kilometers away-
Limit Martial Hall!
This was the headquarters of the Limit Martial Hall for all of Northwest Base City. The entire building stood within Canglan Residential Area, where the families of martial artists affiliated with the Limit Martial Hall lived.
Naturally, Yang Zheng's home was there too.
The main entrance to the Limit General Hall was a full hundred meters wide. Rows of soldiers affiliated with the Limit Martial Hall stood fully armed, keeping a vigilant watch on their surroundings.
"Let them through!"
As the SUV carrying Yang Zheng reached the entrance, the one-armed man in charge glanced at its license plate and waved it straight into Canglan Residential Area.
After passing luxurious villas with red-and-white walls, surrounded by little bridges and flowing streams, the SUV stopped outside the main entrance of detached villa No. 001.
"Home..."
Yang Zheng gazed at the house number with complicated feelings, then gathered himself and pushed open the door.
The villa had three floors, with a basement, training room, media room, and an enormous terrace, covering a total floor area of 512 square meters.
Including the basement, courtyard, and oversized terrace, it was nearly 800 square meters.
Yang Zheng was also a martial artist. Under the Limit Martial Hall's rules, he qualified for a detached villa of his own, but he had yet to meet the requirements for establishing a separate household, so he still lived with his family.
"Dad!"
When he pushed open the door, he found a middle-aged man sitting on the sofa, watching the projected news intently. This was Yang Zheng's father, Wang Jiu-or rather, his adoptive father in this life.
His awakened memories had also made his origins perfectly clear to him. He had not crossed over as a soul and taken Possession of someone else's body, nor had he awakened memories from a past life. He had physically crossed into this world.
For some unknown reason, however, he had become a three-year-old when he arrived. He had not only lost all his memories but also had the misfortune of landing outside the Wilderness Zone.
Fortunately, his father, Wang Jiu, had found him and raised him ever since.
"Mm, you're back."
Wang Jiu nodded mildly without taking his eyes off the news. On the table beside him, however, a cup of hot water had already been prepared for Yang Zheng.
Yang Zheng walked over, picked up the cup, and drained it in one go, then let out a satisfied breath.
"Zheng's home!" His mother, Yang Rong, called from the kitchen, her stir-frying slowing considerably.
"Yeah, Mom, I'm back. Just in time for dinner!" Yang Zheng tossed his backpack, weapons, and equipment into the training room, then turned and ducked into the kitchen.
"Let me see what you've made!"
"Wow, my favorite braised pork!"
Yang Zheng's mother, Yang Rong, was very ordinary, just a middle-aged woman who looked to be in her thirties. He had no idea how she had ended up with Wang Jiu, a Beginner War God. Was it simply because she was his first love?
"Your dad told me half an hour ago that you were coming home today and would be here soon. Honestly, you should have told me ahead of time..."
Though Yang Rong's words were reproachful, she made no attempt to hide the delight in her eyes.
"Ah..."
Hearing Yang Rong from the living room, Wang Jiu sighed and waved a hand to turn off the news.
As the children grew older, his image as a "strict father" was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.
Click!
The living room door opened, and two figures in ordinary blue tracksuits came inside. Both were around 1.7 meters tall. One carried a backpack and a ball, while the other held a book.
"Our brother's back?"
The two high school students who entered the living room were Yang Zheng's younger twin siblings.
The younger twin was his brother, Yang Yi, and the older twin was his sister, Yang Jing.
"Perfect timing. Dinner's ready. Hurry up and get the bowls and chopsticks, then serve the rice," Yang Zheng urged as he carried out a dish.
"Sure!" His younger brother, Yang Yi, put down his schoolbag and basketball and hurried into the kitchen to fetch the bowls and chopsticks.
"That smells amazing!" Yang Jing leaned closer and sniffed. "Mom, did you get special training? Your cooking's almost as good as those chefs'!"
"You should be putting all your energy into your studies." Once the bowls, chopsticks, and dishes were laid out, the family sat down to eat, and their mother, Yang Rong, looked at Yang Yi and scolded him.
"And you, Yi. Your college entrance exam is next year, but you're always either playing basketball or going to the martial hall. Learn from your sister and read more..."
"What good does that do? She's never scored higher than me anyway!" Yang Yi muttered. His voice was quiet, but to martial artists like Wang Jiu and Yang Zheng, it might as well have come through a loudspeaker.
"Eat quietly!" His father, Wang Jiu, glared at him, frightening him into lowering his head and shoveling down his rice.
Yang Zheng silently shook his head. Yang Yi wasn't wrong. Talent really was something to envy. He barely studied, yet no matter how hard Yang Jing worked, she had never outscored him.
In the end, she had only secured her status as the older sister with her fists.
Late that night, light from the residential area's streetlamps shone through the glass into the second-floor media room.
Whoosh!
An enormous two-hundred-inch screen appeared on one wall of the media room. After entering the web address and verifying his fingerprint, Yang Zheng immediately accessed the Limit Martial Hall's internal martial artist network, "Limit Home."
A personal profile immediately appeared on the enormous screen, displaying a photograph of Yang Zheng above a table of information-
Name: Yang Zheng Sex: Male Address: Northwest Base City, Huaxia Country Martial artist ID number: 527133205502010003 Rank: War General Level (intermediate) Contribution points: 320200 Account balance: 530700000 Huaxia Currency
In the quiet media room, Yang Zheng held a cup of hot tea, his gaze resting on the enormous wall-mounted screen.
530 million Huaxia Currency. It looks like a lot, but it won't come close to covering my expenses!
A martial artist's expenses were immense. He had to get a combat suit to keep himself alive, weapons sharp enough to do the job, and all sorts of specialized supplies.
Especially as one's strength increased, a single combat suit could cost hundreds of billions.
Monsters were not so easy to hunt. They did not line up and wait to be killed, and the more intelligent they were, the harder they were to kill. For martial artists who lived on a knife's edge, one careless mistake could send them plunging into an abyss.
Looks like I'll have to lay my cards on the table sooner!
Yang Zheng turned off the screen. He had too little time left. Only by leveraging the Limit Martial Hall's influence could he grow stronger quickly.
The Golden Horned Beast crisis, the Nolan Mountain Family fleet crisis... Living on this disaster-ridden little planet, he could die any day if he wasn't strong enough.
"It's late. I'll deal with it tomorrow."
Yang Zheng stood up, slid open the glass door, and went into his bedroom to sleep.
