"Squirtle!!"
Squirtle watched with his own eyes as one of an Exeggutor's heads fell off, rolled twice across the ground, then stopped at his feet.
Exeggutor did not seem to feel any pain. Even missing a head, the Pokémon swayed off into the distance as though nothing had happened.
But it gave Squirtle quite a fright.
The Exeggutor head on the ground still wore a rather goofy smile, gazing innocently at Squirtle.

The Exeggutor head, still grinning broadly, instinctively reminded Squirtle of the ghost movies he had watched.
Although Exeggutor Island was a protected area, it was not particularly dangerous. Exeggutor were generally not ferocious Pokémon, so Xin Mu and the others had spread out a little farther from one another.

Seeing Squirtle suddenly retreat into hiding, Meownei and Torracat both turned around in confusion, only to find him pointing insistently at the ground ahead.
Meownei glanced at the Exeggutor head without being frightened, then turned and picked Squirtle back up.
"Meow. (Hiding behind me is one thing, but what do you mean by hiding behind Torracat? Have you no shame?)"
"Squirtle! (It's called a type advantage! Its 'head' fell off!! This thing was originally a Grass-type, so if it died, it should be a Ghost-type. What's wrong with hiding behind a Fire-type and a Dark-type?!)"
Squirtle remembered the type matchup chart quite clearly. But as
