Kubfu and Pupitar weren't envious like Ogerpon.
Kubfu simply folded its arms and looked Meowscarada up and down, a composed yet slightly expectant expression on its little face.
It knew perfectly well that its final evolution, the mighty and imposing Urshifu, would lose nothing to the companion before it in height or presence.
Pupitar was even less impressed, a defiant hum coming from inside its thick, sturdy shell.
Only two meters? Hmph.
Then again, how much longer until I evolve?
The level 38 Pupitar sank into thought.
Unlike the other companions, who looked at Meowscarada with a competitive eye, Victini remained utterly carefree.
Flapping its adorable cream-colored wings, it flew curiously around Meowha.
One moment, it ducked into the ornate petal collar around Meowha's neck; the next, it reached out a little paw to tug at the broad leaves flowing behind Meowscarada like a cape, having the time of its life.
Meowscarada seemed somewhat helpless before this overly lively little companion.
But Victini had always been everyone's darling at Xia Chi's House. After a moment's consideration, Meowha chose to indulge it.
Flutter Mane's feelings were the purest of all.
As the first two Pokémon to arrive at Xia Chi's House, and companions who went exploring together every night, the two sisters shared a very close bond.
When Flutter Mane had first evolved, it could clearly sense the determination Floragato had bottled up after "falling behind."
So now that the cat had successfully evolved too, Sister Mane was genuinely happy for it.
Only after the Pokémon had spent a lively stretch getting acquainted with their transformed "new companion," Meowscarada, did Xia Chi take them out for dinner.
He had to admit, walking down the street with the evolved Meowha drew an astonishing number of second glances.
Most were envious.
Understandably so.
