|---|---|---|
| Sprigatito — Level 13 | 11 | Already possesses Protean, Trinity Force, and Bloodthirster. Xia Chi develops her as an all-round fighter rather than a single-burst attacker. |
| Sprigatito — Level 14 | 23 | Reaches level 14 while accumulated Fear passes 20. |
| Sprigatito — Level 15 → Floragato — Level 16 | 52 54 | Defeats Lin Lange’s level 30 Servine to win the Shanghai Pokémon Cup, then evolves on the battlefield. The transformation lasts nearly two minutes. |

| Floragato — V-create acquired | 226 239 | Demonstrates V-create against Roxanne’s Armaldo. Its acquisition is later confirmed to have come from using Sketch on Victini’s move. |
| Floragato — Level 34 → Meowscarada — Level 35 | 240 241 | Evolves while shielding herself from Norman’s Slaking, then defeats the level 71 opponent. The post-battle log records level 35 and 42.3 Fear earned. |
Background / History
As a Sprigatito, she belonged to Lin Lange, a student at Shanghai University’s Pokémon Academy. Although her trainer invested heavily in her care, she was abandoned as “incompetent” after an internal tournament defeat. She subsequently lived alone around the campus and back mountain for more than half a year, surviving on berries and Synthesis rather than joining other wild Pokémon’s groups 6 9 56.
Sprigatito had previously saved Xia Chi. When he later found Mankey bullying her, he called the school Security Team, took her to the campus Pokémon Center, and nursed her in his dormitory. Their friendship developed through repeated contact and shared evening meals. Her fear of being abandoned again initially made her reluctant to accept a new trainer, but Xia Chi reassured her that she was his first friend and most treasured companion 6 7.
After evolving, she chose to accept Lin Lange’s offer of inexpensive accommodation in exchange for Xia Chi’s work as a sparring partner and assistant trainer. Xia Chi had initially refused to spare her discomfort; Floragato instead wanted the opportunity to prove how far she could surpass Lin Lange and Servine 55.
Appearance
- Build: A bipedal, pale-green feline approximately 1.5 meters tall, reaching the chest of the 1.8-meter-tall Xia Chi. She is considerably larger than the ordinary Floragato described in the passage 52.
- Chest fur: A particularly fluffy, dark-green tuft extending down her chest 52.
- Flower bud: A round pink bud on the upper-left chest, attached to a flexible stem that she uses in battle 52 125.
- Eyes and paws: Crimson eyes, pointed ears, and pink paw pads 129 156.
- Stellarized form: Iridescent crystalline armor and a crystal-cluster crown resembling a blend of all eighteen types 186.
- After evolution: As Meowscarada, she stands nearly two meters tall, with pale fur, dark legs, a leafy collar and cape, and a dark-green facial mask 240.
Xia Chi suspects that her unusual size may relate to system bonds, the Chosen Badge, or equipment, but does not establish a definite cause 52.
Personality
Floragato is gentle and affectionate with Xia Chi, rather than the show-off he expects from the Pokédex’s description of her species. She enjoys sleeping close to him, being held, and receiving reassurance. Her earlier abandonment nevertheless leaves her sensitive to rejection and protective of her place as his closest partner 7 52 90 109 156.
Her affection frequently becomes jealousy. She objects even to the male Larvitar sleeping on Xia Chi’s lap, resents Ogerpon occupying his bed, and later grows jealous when Kubfu helps him train. Xia Chi can usually calm her by affirming their special bond 66 108 109 207.
Beneath her gentleness, she remains proud, stubborn, and intensely ambitious. She is disappointed at failing to defeat Cynthia’s Roserade despite the enormous strength gap, refuses to withdraw during her sweep of Ruby’s team, and feels renewed pressure to improve when Misdreavus evolves 55 86 128 181.
Her determination also has a protective purpose. Pecharunt’s final surprise attack deeply shakes her, and she pushes herself against Ruby because she wants to become strong enough to protect Xia Chi, as Ogerpon can 129.
Abilities & Skills
Protean
Protean changes Floragato’s type to match the move she uses, allowing Xia Chi to combine offense with immediate defensive adjustments 85 96.
- Grass: Negates Roserade’s Sleep Powder and resists Pawmot’s and Bellibolt’s Electric attacks 85 96 186.
- Ghost: Avoids Pawmot’s Mach Punch and Red’s Poliwrath’s Close Combat through Shadow Claw 96 149.
- Steel: Uses Shift Gear to become immune to Sludge Bomb and Poison Jab 86 139 149.
- Ground: Uses Earthquake against Bellibolt’s incoming Thunder during the Terastallization exhibition 187.
- Normal: Uses Tail Whip so that Armaldo’s Ghost-type Tera Blast passes harmlessly through her 226.
- Limitations: The response must use a move she actually knows and must happen before the attack lands. Roserade’s Dazzling Gleam hits before she can change types 86 96.
Speed and Physical Combat
Floragato excels in both movement speed and move execution. Cynthia considers these her strongest qualities and recommends keeping her below 40 kilograms until evolution to preserve her agility 85 87.
- Shift Gear: Raises Attack and Speed while enabling Steel typing. Two uses provide boosts equivalent to one Swords Dance and two Agilities 54 140.
- Trailblaze and Quick Attack: Supply acceleration, rapid repositioning, and openings for follow-up attacks 86 125 128.
- Triple Axel: Delivers rapid Ice-type strikes with her claws or feet; at maximum boosts, it leaves shallow cuts on Cynthia’s Roserade 86 186.
- Play Rough: Learned from Cynthia’s Togekiss and used in sustained close-range exchanges against Pawmot and Zoroark 97 140.
- Energy limit: Maximum boosts sharply increase move expenditure. Against Roserade, she collapses from depleted energy rather than depleted health 86.
Flower-Stem Manipulation
Her flower stem serves as a tether, restraint, and means of propulsion. Xia Chi and Floragato refine its use while she studies Vine Whip techniques with Lin Qunzhi’s Venusaur 125.
- Binds Skeledirge’s jaws to interrupt its attempt to unleash Fire Blast 98.
- Anchors to rocks so she can swing across an icy battlefield while attacking with her claws and Bullet Seed 125.
- Redirects Swampert’s airborne attack into a rock pillar 128.
- Catches Silvally’s tail to halt her own knockback and pull herself into a counterattack 141.
- Hooks Staraptor’s talon, allowing her to hang beneath it and fire Bullet Seed upward 170.
- Attaches to Team Magma’s airship to bypass Camerupt and approach the capture net 232.
System Bonds
| Bond | Documented effect |
|---|---|
| Dark-type | Collects Fear from victories. By the Floragato stage, every 100 Fear provides 10% additional damage; the bonus reaches 40% against Nemona and nearly 200% by the Slaking battle 54 97 240. |
| Speedy Attacker | Provides a 70% increase to move execution speed during the Pawmot battle 97. |
| Grass-type | Once activated with Ogerpon, grants bonded Pokémon 1% Attack, Defense, and HP per second after battle begins, up to 100%. The HP increase is central to Floragato’s survival against Ruby 109 128. |
| Victory Star | Combines with Training Aid to improve the gains from battles in Area Zero; its precise bonus is not specified in the passage 172. |
Stellarization
Exposure to Terapagos’s crystal changes Floragato’s Tera Type to Stellar without disabling Protean 185.
- Gives a double boost to the first move she uses of each type, rewarding a varied sequence of attacks 185.
- Produces crystalline armor that reduces damage from non-Terastallized Pokémon, though less dramatically than Terapagos’s own protection 185.
- Does not maintain the same exceptional boost on repeated uses: later Petal Blizzards against Bellibolt are markedly weaker than the first 187.
- Does not make her invulnerable; Bellibolt’s repeated area attacks still leave her struggling to remain standing 187.
V-create
Floragato learns Victini’s V-create through Sketch, adding a powerful Fire-type move to her otherwise limited answers to Fire attacks 193 239.
- Destroys Roxanne’s boulder fortress and knocks out Armaldo 226.
- Counters Norman’s Slaking’s Fire Punch, although the clash does not overpower it 239.
- Lowers Defense, Special Defense, and Speed, making repeated use dangerous 239 240.
Energy-Control Training
Mustard identifies wasted move energy as a weakness in Xia Chi’s team and introduces both Single Strike and Rapid Strike principles. He specifically recommends Rapid Strike’s continuous rhythm and penetrating attacks for Floragato 207.
- Begins waterfall training alongside Xia Chi and his other Pokémon 207.
- Is encouraged to learn from both styles rather than treating them solely as Urshifu’s evolutionary branches 207.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Trinity Force — Grants +33% to HP, physical Attack, Special Attack, Defense, Special Defense, Speed, and move execution speed 11.
- Bloodthirster — Grants +10% physical Attack and Special Defense; physical moves restore HP equal to 20% of damage dealt. This sustain helps her outlast Pawmot and survive Ruby’s team 11 97 128.
- Chosen Badge — Supplies additional stat bonuses alongside Trinity Force; exact values are not given in the supplied passages 52 86.
- Titan’s Resolve — Used against Red’s Poliwrath. Rapid Bullet Seed hits build its stacks, and its fully stacked effect provides a 50% Defense boost 149.
- Terapagos’s crystal — Kept in her chest fur inside a pocket woven from Grass-type energy. It enables the spacetime incident and eventually changes her Tera Type 176 185.
- Miracle Seeds — Valuable seeds from Mt. Coronet given to her by Cynthia, originally intended as snacks for Roserade 82.
Relationships
- Xia Chi — Trainer, rescuer, and closest companion. Their bond begins before her capture; he explicitly reassures her that they are each other’s most special partners 6 7 109.
- Lin Lange — Former trainer who abandoned her as Sprigatito. Floragato later accepts renewed contact on her own terms, determined to demonstrate her progress 6 55 56.
- Misdreavus / Flutter Mane — Closest Pokémon companion and fellow early team member. They regularly explore together at night; Floragato takes the practical lead during their spacetime displacement. Flutter Mane is genuinely happy when she finally evolves 176 242.
- Ogerpon — Initially a rival for Xia Chi’s affection. Floragato reluctantly accepts a big-sister role after his reassurance, later becoming less hostile and allowing Ogerpon to sit in his lap without objection 108 109 129 221.
- Larvitar / Pupitar — Younger teammate she initially agrees to help care for. Her jealousy resurfaces when he sleeps on Xia Chi’s lap 61 66.
- Cynthia — Gives her nurturing resources, arranges training with Roserade, and advises Xia Chi on her diet and physical development 82 86 87.
- Mustard — Martial-arts instructor who directs her toward more efficient energy control and Rapid Strike principles 207.
- Victini — Source of her copied V-create. After evolving, she also indulges Victini’s playful exploration of her new collar and cape 239 242.
