Ch. 201Battle

Ash and Serena competed in Professor Oak’s Summer Camp contests, then teamed up in a Double Battle against Zhang Shengkai and Fang Chengen. Ash felt a strange sensation in his blood during the camp, and the battle ended with both teams still fighting for an advantage.

  • Ash used his charm and violin to attract more than half the Pokémon for his team in the camp’s attraction contest.
  • Ash told Serena that a Pokémon’s strength depended on the bond with its Trainer as well as its species, while carrying the egg he had chosen as his Starter Pokémon.
  • Professor Oak organized the camp’s final-day Pokémon battles, and Ash chose a Pidgey while Serena chose a Vulpix.
  • Ash felt something strange in his blood and grew pale, but Serena could not get him to explain what was wrong.
  • Team One defeated Team Two in the opening match after Sandshrew overcame Voltorb.
  • Ash and Serena faced Zhang Shengkai and Fang Chengen; their Pidgey and Vulpix took early damage from Poliwag and Bellsprout, then dodged the opponents’ follow-up attacks.

Ch. 202Slumber

After Ash and Serena won their Pokémon match, Ash suffered agonizing pain as his bloodline evolved, and a newly hatched creature named Puni put him to sleep until he was nearly ten. Ash's guardian took him to Red Leaf City, where Hong Shenglong arranged for Cynthia to become Ash's fiancée and ordered people to care for him until he woke.

  • Ash and Serena defeated Fang Chengen, but Ash hurried to the lounge and drank blood as an unbearable craving overtook him.
  • Serena discovered Ash in pain, and Xiao Lei arrived on Zapdos as a creature hatched from an egg and healed Ash.
  • Puni introduced itself, explained that Ash's bloodline was evolving, and used Soul Interference to put him to sleep until shortly before he turned ten.
  • Xiao Lei took the sleeping Ash to Red Leaf City, while Serena received a token from him and Professor Oak questioned her about Puni.
  • Hong Shenglong learned that Ash would remain asleep and ordered Xiao Lei to arrange Cynthia's engagement to Ash and send people to care for him until he woke.

Ch. 203Love?

After waking from a two-year sleep, Ash reunited with his parents and learned why his family arranged his engagement: their immortal bloodline had caused his father’s other wives to die. As Ash recovered, he learned more about his family’s powerful guards and decided to reveal Puni’s abilities before his upcoming engagement.

  • Ash woke after two years and reunited with Hong Shenglong and Du Xin, then grew angry when he learned his engagement was only days away.
  • Hong Shenglong took Ash to the Ice Burial Chamber, showed him the young women buried there, and explained the risks and purpose of the family’s immortality-granting bloodline.
  • Ash accepted his father’s explanation and agreed to try to win over his fiancée, while Hong Shenglong teased him about it.
  • As Ash practiced walking, Ice Attendant explained that the family had twelve guards, each backed by a Legendary Pokémon, and described the family’s dealings with the League.
  • Ash asked Puni about its abilities and instructed it to tell Professor Oak that its type was Holy-type and its Ability was Pure Body.
  • Puni asked Ash to give it his body, and Ash blushed and rejected the idea of human-Pokémon romance.

Ch. 204Evolution

Yi Qinglan brought Cynthia to Red Leaf City to meet her fiancé, Ash, and the two got acquainted over tea and ice cream. Cynthia challenged Ash’s Puni, and after Gabite evolved into Garchomp, their battle continued with Puni unharmed by Garchomp’s attacks.

  • Yi Qinglan and Cynthia arrived in Red Leaf City, where Hong Shenglong introduced Cynthia to Ash as his fiancée.
  • Ash took Cynthia to the lounge for tea and ice cream, and she asked to meet his new Pokémon, Puni.
  • Cynthia examined Puni and challenged Ash to a battle after tea.
  • Puni defeated Gabite with Holy Light and Sky-Rending Break, prompting Cynthia to surrender.
  • Gabite evolved into Garchomp, and Cynthia continued the battle as Garchomp’s dragon-head projectiles passed harmlessly through Puni’s incorporeal form.

Ch. 205Talking about Puni

Ash defeated Cynthia’s Garchomp with Puni, then carried the exhausted Cynthia to the lounge. Meanwhile, Johanna gave Yuanjun a backpack full of supplies and a near-hatching Ground-type Pokémon Egg, but his guesses failed to identify its species.

  • Puni overwhelmed Garchomp with Thousand Fierce Void Light Flash, and Cynthia conceded the battle.
  • Ash carried Cynthia to the lounge as she rested against his shoulder; Ice Attendant and Yi Qinglan observed Ash’s closeness with her.
  • Yi Qinglan and Hong Shenglong discussed Puni’s extraordinary power, possible forms, origins, and unusual connection to Ash.
  • Johanna gave Yuanjun a High-Tech Backpack stocked with supplies and a nearly hatching Pokémon Egg, advising him to wait before beginning an adventure.
  • Yuanjun and Tōdō Kazuya guessed several Ground-type Pokémon, but Johanna rejected every guess, including Baltoy.

Ch. 206An alarming connection

Johanna gave Yuanjun a Trapinch Pokémon Egg from the Wataru Clan and explained that he would need to earn the family’s approval. Yuanjun learned that Johanna had traveled with Lance, who would assess him, and looked forward to starting his Pokémon journey once the egg hatched.

  • Johanna revealed that the egg she had obtained for Yuanjun contained a Trapinch and told him it was worth as much as a pseudo-Legendary Pokémon.
  • Johanna explained that she had earned the Wataru Clan’s approval and passed its test, but Yuanjun would still need to earn the family’s approval before raising the Pokémon.
  • Yuanjun realized the egg came from the Wataru Clan of Blackthorn City, and Johanna revealed that Lance would assess his character.
  • Johanna told Yuanjun she had helped raise Lance’s Pokémon and encouraged Yuanjun to beat sense into people whose heads were not screwed on right.
  • Yuanjun went to bed excited about the egg hatching and his plans to travel and compete in regional leagues.

Ch. 207Goals

Yuanjun prepared for his Pokémon Egg to hatch while Johanna taught him how to make nutritious Moomoo Milk. The egg still had about three hours before hatching as Yuanjun finished a Ground-type formula and looked forward to raising his starter Pokémon.

  • Yuanjun checked the incubator and found that the Pokémon Egg would hatch in roughly three hours.
  • Tōdō Yūdai told Yuanjun that she and a young investigator had caught all the poachers.
  • Johanna revealed that the egg had inherited Quick Attack, Gust, Thrash, Fury Cutter, and Feint, then taught Yuanjun basic Moomoo Milk formulas.
  • Yuanjun made a bottle of Moomoo Milk and earned Johanna's praise for his first attempt.
  • Tōdō Yūdai left for work after telling Yuanjun she looked forward to seeing his starter Pokémon.
  • Yuanjun spent two hours preparing Moomoo Milk with a Ground-type formula for Trapinch.

Ch. 208Setting off again

Yuanjun welcomed his newly hatched Trapinch and, after five days of caring for him, left home to begin his journey. He reached Route 1, where he prepared to battle alongside Trapinch on the way to Pallet Town.

  • Johanna told Yuanjun he would need to rely on himself once he began traveling, and Trapinch hatched from his Pokémon Egg.
  • Yuanjun welcomed Trapinch, fed and cared for him, while Johanna reminisced about her own travels and resolved to work toward reaching elite four level.
  • After five days, Yuanjun registered Trapinch, took him for a checkup, and learned that the healthy Beginner-rank male knew eight moves.
  • Johanna reminded Yuanjun to cross Route 1 as part of Lance's test and visit Professor Oak's Laboratory in Pallet Town; Yuanjun then left home.
  • Yuanjun arrived on Route 1, released Trapinch from his Poké Ball, and told him they were about to battle wild Pokémon.

Ch. 209Route 1

Yuanjun postponed battling and trained Trapinch to improve its Quick Attack, then fed a hungry Oddish and considered asking her to guide them along Route 1.

  • Yuanjun persuaded Trapinch to practice its moves before battling and chose Quick Attack as its first focus.
  • Yuanjun timed Trapinch charging into a tree and trained him until he cut his time from ten seconds to five.
  • Yuanjun rested beneath a tree and fed Trapinch Pokéblocks, then spotted an Oddish drawn by the food.
  • Yuanjun shared a Pokéblock with Oddish and considered asking her to guide them along Route 1.

Ch. 210The eerie forest

Yuanjun followed Oddish through an eerily silent forest and left after learning that something had frightened her. Elsewhere, Anxiong and his Pokémon climbed a mountain, where a colony of Graveler and Geodude attacked them as they searched for a legend hidden in the mountains.

  • Yuanjun asked Oddish to help find a Pokémon strong enough to battle Trapinch, and she agreed.
  • Oddish led Yuanjun and Trapinch through a forest where they encountered no Pokémon and she seemed frightened by something that had happened there.
  • Yuanjun followed Oddish out of the forest across a stream and decided to continue toward Pallet Town rather than investigate.
  • Anxiong climbed a windy mountain trail with Aggron, hoping to find a mysterious legend connected to dragons and the wind.
  • A migrating colony of Graveler and Geodude surrounded Anxiong and his Pokémon, then attacked with Rock Throw as they advanced up the trail.
  • Anxiong's Pokémon defended him, but the barrage forced him to stop and send out another partner.

Ch. 211Rayquaza's credit

Anxiong and his Pokémon defeated the Graveler tribe’s evolved leader and reached the mountain summit, where they found Rayquaza. Rayquaza awakened and attacked, and Anxiong’s team began its challenge.

  • Alolan Sandslash Chuanzi scattered the Geodude and Graveler, but the leader’s Earthquake struck it down after it evolved into Golem.
  • Anxiong sent out Walrein Diyazi, whose Blizzard defeated Golem and cleared the tribe’s path.
  • Anxiong and his companions recovered in a tunnel, while Gardevoir Naisha’s history revealed her desire to find and challenge Rayquaza.
  • Anxiong’s party emerged at the summit and confronted the sleeping Rayquaza, which awoke and launched Air Slashes.
  • Aggron Bozai led the team through Rayquaza’s Air Slashes, allowing Wigglytuff, Salamence, and Aggron to press their attack.

Ch. 212The Dragon God Pokémon

Anxiong and his Pokémon appeared to trap Rayquaza in ice, but Rayquaza broke free and unleashed a devastating Ancient Power. With Naisha linking their minds, Anxiong helped Salamence awaken Draco Meteor, which began to wrest control of the sky from Rayquaza.

  • Anxiong’s team battered Rayquaza with a formation of attacks, and Sandslash and Walrein’s Blizzard encased him in ice.
  • Rayquaza burst out of the ice, darkened the sky, and summoned a barrage of boulders with Ancient Power.
  • Anxiong realized the dark clouds strengthened Rayquaza, while Salamence tried and failed to complete Draco Meteor as his companions shielded him.
  • Anxiong asked Naisha to link his mind with Salamence’s, then joined Salamence in searching for a way to unleash the move.
  • Anxiong recognized how Rayquaza drew on heaven and earth, and Salamence expanded Draco Meteor’s rune, turning the sky purple and disrupting Rayquaza’s control.

Ch. 213Losing two key fighters

Anxiong’s team endured Rayquaza’s Draco Meteor and continued fighting despite severe injuries and exhaustion. As Anxiong, Dingzai, and Naisha synchronized around an opening, they launched a coordinated attack, leaving the battle unresolved.

  • Salamence guided Draco Meteor toward Rayquaza, which deflected the meteors with Ancient Power before shattering the final meteor with a powerful strike.
  • Anxiong’s group escaped the falling meteorite ash on a Stone Edge pillar, while Naisha’s psychic power was nearly exhausted.
  • Anxiong, Aggron, Wigglytuff, and Diyazi attacked the wounded Rayquaza, and Aggron fell after taking a final Dragon Tail.
  • Anxiong and Dingzai kept dodging and striking Rayquaza as Naisha watched and began to understand their battle instincts.
  • Naisha joined Anxiong and Dingzai as they seized Rayquaza’s opening and leaped together to attack with their knees.

Ch. 214Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One

Anxiong and his Pokémon recovered after defeating Rayquaza, and he wondered who to challenge next. The story then shifted to a trainer who had found Lugia and began a battle to catch it.

  • Anxiong, Dingzai, and Naisha collapsed from exhaustion after Rayquaza fell, and wild Graveler carried them down the mountain.
  • Anxiong woke in a Pokémon Center, reunited with his healthy Pokémon, and shared the meal Naisha brought.
  • Anxiong spotted a fleeting yellow figure among the clouds and wondered who he should challenge next.
  • A trainer who had followed the Silver Wing confronted Lugia and sent Tyranitar, Golem, Gyarados, Dragonite, Lapras, and Vaporeon into battle.
  • Lugia knocked back Golem, Gyarados, and Tyranitar, but Dragonite's Dragon Breath created an opening for Tyranitar and Gyarados to close in.

Ch. 215Vaporeon

The trainer and his Pokémon battled Lugia, but Lugia knocked out Tyranitar, Golem, Dragonite, Gyarados, and Lapras while barely seeming hurt. With Vaporeon as his last active Pokémon, the trainer regained his resolve, and Lugia spoke to him, telling him to come.

  • Tyranitar and Golem struck Lugia with Crunch and Stone Edge, but Lugia knocked them both out with Sky Attack.
  • The trainer rallied his Pokémon and had Vaporeon and Gyarados soak Lugia before Lapras froze him with a blizzard.
  • Dragonite hit the immobilized Lugia with Outrage, but Lugia countered with Dragon Tail and knocked Dragonite out.
  • Lugia seized Gyarados and threw him into Lapras, knocking both Pokémon out and leaving Vaporeon as the trainer’s only fighter.
  • Vaporeon bit the trainer’s hand to encourage him, then faced Lugia as an azure glow gathered around his tail.
  • Lugia’s tail glowed purple, and the trainer heard Lugia tell him, “I've been waiting a long time. Come!”

Ch. 216Dream

The narrator dreamed of proving his resolve to Lugia by catching him with one of ten white Poké Balls, ultimately turning the last ball golden with memories of his journey and his companions’ hopes. He woke at an inn with a mysterious white Poké Ball in his backpack, then continued traveling with Vaporeon as the story shifted to three figures outside a Pokémon Day Care in Unova.

  • Vaporeon attacked Lugia with Aqua Tail but was struck down by Lugia’s Dragon Tail and badly injured.
  • Lugia offered the narrator ten white Poké Balls and challenged him to prove he was worthy of fighting by Lugia’s side.
  • The narrator recalled his journey and his companions’ hopes, causing the final white Poké Ball to turn golden.
  • The narrator threw the golden ball at Lugia, and Lugia accepted his resolve as golden light engulfed them.
  • The narrator woke in an inn with his six companions asleep and found a plain white Poké Ball in his backpack.
  • The narrator left the inn with Vaporeon and continued toward the next town before the scene shifted to a Pokémon Day Care in Unova.

Ch. 217A New Journey

Ruoling set out for her journey with Shixue and Little Eevee, who made sure she had her forgotten receiver. In Nuvema Town, Ruoling received her Trainer supplies, declined a starter Pokémon, and met Ash.

  • Little Eevee found that Ruoling had forgotten her live receiver, so Shixue decided to travel with her after all.
  • Shixue and Ruoling traveled to Nuvema Town, where Shixue battled other Trainers to gain experience for her Snivy while Little Eevee secretly took revenge on Ruoling.
  • At Professor Juniper’s laboratory, Shixue introduced Ruoling, who received a Pokédex, two empty Pokémon Balls, and a Badge case.
  • Ruoling declined Professor Juniper’s available Oshawott, then met Ash, who introduced himself and excitedly asked whether she was a new Trainer.

Ch. 218The right way to coexist

Ruoling and Shixue traveled through Accumula Town, where Ruoling witnessed Team Plasma’s Ghetsis call for Pokémon to be liberated from human Trainers. Ghetsis’s speech left Ruoling uneasy as she recognized the argument and sensed his attention on her.

  • Ash left to find Trip, while Pika attacked Ruoling for doubting Ash’s victory over Paul and Little Eevee shielded her with a move.
  • Ruoling and Shixue watched Pika defeat Trip’s Snivy, then fled when Trip challenged Ruoling to a battle.
  • After traveling through Route 1, Ruoling and Shixue reached Accumula Town and joined the crowd watching a Team Plasma speech.
  • Ghetsis argued that Trainers exploited Pokémon and declared that humans must set them free, while Ruoling felt uneasy and Little Eevee glared at him.

Ch. 219The Battle in Striaton City

Ruoling met N and defeated his Purrloin with Little Ice before traveling on to Striaton City. She arrived at the Gym to challenge its Leaders, but their dramatic restaurant-style welcome left her confused as the battle was about to begin.

  • N approached Ruoling and Shixue, sent out Purrloin, and challenged them to let him hear their Pokémon's voices.
  • Ruoling sent out Little Ice, which defeated N's Purrloin, and Shixue led Ruoling away.
  • Ruoling explored Striaton City, learned the Gym Leaders were away, and later met Shixue at the Pokémon Center after Shixue had completed her challenge.
  • Shixue and Little Eevee accompanied Ruoling to the Gym, where Little Eevee pushed her to approach the three Leaders and announce her challenge.
  • The green-haired Gym Leader asked Ruoling how she had learned about the Gym, then the red-haired and blue-haired Leaders introduced themselves with theatrical flair.

Ch. 220The Pokémon Connoisseur Trainer

Ruoling challenged the Striaton Gym in a Triple Battle and defeated the Gym Leaders’ Pokémon despite the deliberate type disadvantages. Afterward, she awkwardly accepted their praise while Little Eevee and Shixue enjoyed her discomfort.

  • Ruoling cleared the Striaton Gym’s type-matchup trials and agreed to a three-on-three Triple Battle against Bert, Chili, and Cilan.
  • Ruoling sent out Little Ice, Little Leaf, and Little Fairy, while the Gym Leaders deployed Panpour, Simisear, and Pansage.
  • After Little Eevee pointed out that the Gym Leaders had arranged the type matchups deliberately, Ruoling ordered her Pokémon to attack swiftly.
  • Ruoling’s Pokémon defeated all three opposing Pokémon, earning her the Gym battle victory.
  • Bert put an arm around Ruoling, and she blushed awkwardly as Little Eevee, Shixue, and the Pokémon watched.
  • Cilan praised Ruoling’s battle in terms of flavor, reminding her that the Gym Leaders were Pokémon Connoisseurs.
