He returned to the Haoyue Branch Hall.
The dormitories were behind the Branch Temple, with training grounds for Squires and Knights farther back. All told, the place was fairly spacious.
Yang Tian had not transferred into an existing class. He had advanced through an assessment held at the scheduled time.
As such, he did not have to rush straight into training the way Long Haochen had at the beginning.
Besides, the Squires' instructor probably was not that Night Asura, was he?
He was only the chief instructor. He could not oversee everything himself.
What Yang Tian did not know was that this particular "talent" already had his eye on him.
Knights each had their own private quarters, while Squires shared dormitory rooms in groups of four.
"I'm here. This feels so familiar!"
Looking at his assigned room among the rows of dormitories, Yang Tian thought of the dormitories in another world.
Of course, getting a room to yourself in that world had been difficult!
He opened the door and walked in. This was his room, and the Knight had not mentioned anyone else living there, so Yang Tian did not hesitate.
As the door opened, a gentle wave of spiritual power, far denser than outside, washed over him.
The Squire dormitories also had magic arrays that gathered spiritual power to aid cultivation.
Four separate beds came into view. There were none of those rare bunk beds, which was rather nice.
At least there would be no strange shaking from the upper or lower bunk when he went to sleep at night.
Those who passed the Squire assessment were all hot-blooded youths, after all.
Then he noticed a set of bedding on one side, folded neatly and beautifully!
"Wait, is someone else living here?"
"My roommate?"
Yang Tian thought to himself. That's fine. Living alone would get lonely, ahem.
Having someone to chat with seemed pretty nice, too. But Yang Tian did not know himself very well-he was no good at making conversation.
He chose a bed opposite the one with the bedding and laid the sheet he had brought on it to show that it was taken.
Then he put his bundle in the designated spot.
Yang Tian took particular care to wrap the money card holding his gold coins in a pair of underpants.
Surely there were no perverts who liked rummaging through other people's underwear?
Once that was done, Yang Tian checked what he still needed so he could buy it at the nearby general store.
The Branch Temple permitted the store to operate. It sold drinking water, mattresses, bedding, and so on, making it feel just like a little shop on a school campus.
After Yang Tian went out, the Knight named Lin Jun arrived.
"He hasn't come back yet?"
"All right. Since the chief instructor wants to see him, I'll wait a little!"
Lin Jun muttered to himself, then found a corner to squat in and wait.
Half an hour later.
Yang Tian finally appeared!
"Uh, did I forget to tell him that bedding and things would be issued to everyone later?"
"Ahem, I'm sure I told him. What an impatient kid!"
Seeing Yang Tian laden with bags, Lin Jun froze for a moment, then chuckled with barely concealed amusement.
Once Yang Tian found out, he would surely develop a certain "disdain" for this Knight.
From the practiced way Yang Tian opened the door, he clearly had been inside the dormitory before.
"Right, I've basically got everything!"
"I'll get all this sorted out first and make a good impression on my roommate!"
Looking at his bags, Yang Tian was about to start organizing them. His towel, toothbrush, and other things needed to be put away separately.
"Yang Tian!"
Lin Jun came over and called out.
Hearing someone call his name, Yang Tian looked toward the doorway. It was that esteemed "Knight."
"Sir Knight, is there something you need?"
Yang Tian set down what he was holding and replied politely.
"Come with me!" Lin Jun said coldly.
Hearing those words, Yang Tian felt as though he were being hauled away like a prisoner.
But the other man was a genuine Knight, a third-tier professional. Yang Tian could not beat him.
He did not know whether Lin Jun had acquired a mount yet, either. With a mount helping him fight, it would practically be two against one.
"All right!" Yang Tian answered, then followed him outside.
He locked the door again. After all, two years' worth of his wealth was hidden inside.
As he followed Lin Jun, he felt that the man was only putting on a cold front-the sort who hid a mischievous streak beneath a reserved exterior.
Still, Yang Tian did not feel comfortable asking what this was about. He had already asked, and the man had not answered.
They returned to the Branch Temple's main hall, then headed straight up to the second floor.
Beyond the stairs, directly opposite the entrance, stood six extremely ordinary-looking chairs.
But those were not for people to sit on.
No, wait, they were for people to sit on!
That was not quite right either. People could sit on them.
Fine, these were merely stone replicas. Only those with sufficient strength were worthy of possessing the real things.
The current owners of three such seats were all high-ranking figures in the Knight Temple!
They were the Divine Thrones!
Yang Tian stopped in his tracks, staring at the six seats ahead, which reproduced only their shapes.
Sitting on one of those would definitely be something else!
That was what Yang Tian thought at that moment.
The two kinds of "sitting" were different.
Sitting on one of these stone models would chill his backside and give him the runs. That certainly would be something else.
And sitting on a real Divine Throne would naturally be something else, too.
"Those are the lifelong goal of every Knight, and the glory of us Knights!"
Seeing Yang Tian stop, Lin Jun spoke with pride.
"Yang Tian, do you know about the Divine Thrones?"
Lin Jun asked him. He, too, had been shocked when he learned Yang Tian's age.
However, Temple Master Nalan and Lin Zhan, the man in charge, had spoken to him privately. He did not dare reveal Yang Tian's age, having already sworn on his honor as a Knight.
"No, but they must be incredibly powerful!"
Yang Tian thought for a moment, then answered sincerely.
The name of every Divine Throne was too long. When he had read about them back then, he had not remembered them very clearly.
There was only one throne Yang Tian remembered: the Divine Throne of Eternity and Creation.
Still, anyone who gained the recognition of even one of those divine artifacts would be qualified to challenge the top thirty-six demon gods.
"Yes, they are incredibly powerful!"
"You'll understand someday. All right, follow me!"
Lin Jun nodded. He did not explain them to Yang Tian one by one, since there was still business to attend to.
Yang Tian said nothing and followed Lin Jun to the door of a room in a quiet corner.
Knock, knock, knock.
Lin Jun knocked solemnly.
"Come in!" A familiar voice came from inside. It belonged to that plump Temple Master.
"Temple Master, I've brought Yang Tian!"
After opening the door, Lin Jun stepped inside, stopped three paces from the doorway, and spoke respectfully.
"Good. Go back to your duties."
Temple Master Nalan nodded slightly and spoke amiably.
Then Lin Jun withdrew.
Now, inside the room.
Only Yang Tian, Temple Master Nalan, and a frightening-looking middle-aged man remained.
"Yang Tian, close the door."
Temple Master Nalan spoke to Yang Tian.
Yang Tian was a little nervous now. That man beside him had to be Night Asura, Ye Hua.
"Yes, Temple Master!" Yang Tian came back to his senses and replied respectfully.
He turned around and closed the door.
"Well, Zombie Face? This child is only seven, yet he only froze for a few seconds in front of you!"
While Yang Tian turned away, the Temple Master teased the man beside him.
So that's "Zombie Face"?
They called me here... could it be?
