Zhang Jingxiu, reborn as an Uchiha infant after failing to achieve immortality in his previous life, grew up determined to pursue it again. At five, he trained with his brothers Madara and Izuna, then sensed a watcher outside their room and prepared to defend them.
Uchiha Tajima and Butsuma Senju clashed at Eight-Banner Plain while a Senju-Hyuga force attacked Ueno Camp. Jingxiu stayed behind to fight Hyuga Chenxi as Izuna fled with their younger brothers, and the shadow helping Jingxiu vanished completely.
Jing Xiu defeated Hyuga Chenxi with a lightning technique but collapsed from the spiritual strain as the Ueno Camp was devastated. After waking in the Uchiha Clan Compound five days later, he discovered his abilities had grown and found something extraordinary within his spirit.
Jing Xiu discovered the three divine artifacts of Hades within his sea of consciousness and pursued his goal of becoming the Underworld’s Hades in the Shinobi World. After the Uchiha, Senju, and Hyuga agreed to an armistice, Madara grew angry at his clan’s elders and returned home to Jing Xiu and Izuna.
The Uchiha elders planned to lure the Hyuga into an ambush by using Uchiha Jing Xiu as bait, and Uchiha Tajima assigned the mission to his son. Jing Xiu asked what reward he would receive if he completed it.
Jing Xiu prepared magical artifacts and supplies for a dangerous mission, while Madara and Izuna resolved to protect him. The mission’s cover would be an elaborate defection by a grieving Uchiha Jōnin.
Uchiha Jing Xiu traveled with the defecting Uchiha Black Wolf through the Land of Rain, then helped trigger an ambush by Uchiha forces and the Yuki Clan. Black Wolf fought his way through the attackers, while Jing Xiu revealed his surprising strength; the battle remained unresolved when a scream broke the standoff.
Jing Xiu and Black Wolf escaped the Yuki Clan and traveled to Hyuga territory disguised as a samurai father and son, hoping to join a caravan bound for the Kaguya Clan. After training together in Biei Town for a month, they finally met the caravan’s Hyuga guards, and Black Wolf faced a test to earn them passage.
Jing Xiu and Black Wolf attacked the Hyuga caravan after a Genin tried to mistreat Jing Xiu, turning their covert journey into a battle with Hyuga Kiyomei's forces. Jing Xiu was about to inspect the cargo when blades came slicing through the air behind him.
Jing Xiu and Black Wolf escaped into Gale Gorge after Fūma Sasaki tried to capture Jing Xiu, and they sheltered in a cave. Jing Xiu planned to raid the Hyuga shipment before it reached the Land of Rain, warning Black Wolf that the Hyuga could expose their plans to the clans in the Land of Water.
Jing Xiu and Uchiha Black Wolf sabotaged the Hyuga convoy with explosive tags enhanced by natural chakra, setting the camp ablaze and destroying its cargo. As Hyuga Kiyomei and Fūma Sasaki pursued them, Black Wolf realized they would be caught before reaching Gale Gorge and asked Jing Xiu what he planned to do.
Jing Xiu fled into Gale Gorge and hid in a cave while Hyuga Kiyomei recruited Fūma Sasaki to help hunt Uchiha Black Wolf. The two Hyuga Chunin found Jing Xiu, but one walked into a trap as Jing Xiu taunted them.
Jing Xiu survived a cave trap that killed two Hyuga Chunin and prepared to wait out the battle. Meanwhile, Hyuga Kiyomei manipulated Uchiha Black Wolf into killing Fūma Sasaki and offered him an alliance against the Uchiha, leaving Black Wolf to consider the proposal.
Hyuga Kiyomei killed Uchiha Black Wolf, but Black Wolf survived his counterattack with Izanagi and escaped with Jing Xiu. Their movements set the clans’ plans in motion as the Senju prepared to exploit a coming clash between the Uchiha and Hyuga.
Jing Xiu and Uchiha Black Wolf were cornered by Hyuga and Fūma forces, and Hyuga Sesei attacked Jing Xiu with Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. As Black Wolf tried to escape, he exposed a rift between the Fūma Second Elder and Hyuga Kiyomei over Fūma Sasaki’s death; Jing Xiu had already endured sixteen strikes, and Sesei warned that the next sixteen could kill him.
Madara Uchiha rescued Jing Xiu from Hyuga Sesei, while Uchiha Tajima fought Hyuga Tennin on the battlefield in the Land of Rain. As the Uchiha claimed major gains, Tennin warned Tajima that Butsuma Senju was acting elsewhere.
Butsuma Senju prepared to march while Madara Uchiha returned to a clan threatened by the Senju and struggled to choose a strategy. Jing Xiu warned Madara that his father’s death could doom the Uchiha, proposed retreating across the sea as a last resort, and asked whether he knew a story about a tiger, a wolf, and a dog.
Jing Xiu advised Madara that the weakened Uchiha should ally with the Hyuga to stand against the Senju, and Madara sought the First Elder’s help preparing the plan. The chapter ended with Uchiha Black Wolf nursing his hatred for Uchiha Tajima and vowing revenge.
Hyuga Tennin used the Hyuga Clan’s secret medicine and Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack to defeat Uchiha Tajima, but the Uchiha Gunbai helped Tajima survive, and the two leaders agreed to join forces against the Senju. Madara Uchiha then confronted Hyuga Kiyomei on Greenleaf Cliff as the Hyuga Clan faced a crisis.
Madara and Hyuga Kiyomei exchanged alliance agreements at Greenleaf Cliff just as the Senju destroyed a dam and sent the Shinano River surging toward them. Madara assembled the Uchiha forces and laid out a strategy to hold Greenleaf Cliff while the Hyuga attacked the Senju from behind.
Madara recalled the strategic discussion with Izuna and Jing Xiu, then used Greenleaf Cliff’s terrain and explosive tags to inflict heavy losses on Hashirama Senju’s forces. After the first battle, Butsuma Senju challenged Hashirama to learn from the seventy-seven clansmen who had died under his command.
After the Uchiha won the opening battle, Madara personally patrolled the camp, following Jing Xiu’s warnings about a Senju night raid. Butsuma Senju ambushed and gravely wounded Madara, leaving his fate uncertain.
Butsuma Senju used a two-person tactic to kill the Uchiha Hidden Ninja and prepared to finish off the apparently lifeless Madara. In Madara’s mind, Jing Xiu explained that the essence of golden light was not overwhelming force or defense, but a natural state of being that brought out an object’s inherent ability.
Madara Uchiha awakened with a new power and drove Butsuma Senju to retreat as Uchiha Tajima and Hyuga Tennin arrived. After the clans returned to camp and prepared for further conflict, an Uchiha chunin reported that Madara was missing.
Madara recovered in Ryūchi Cave, survived Tagitsuhime’s attack, and was brought before the White Snake Sage, who offered him the power of the cave in exchange for a summoning contract. Madara refused, insisting his own strength could bring peace, and the White Snake Sage sent a tiny snake darting into his arm.
