Yang Cheng, a transmigrator living in Konoha, got punished by Iruka for sleeping through class and mocking the Third Hokage’s lesson. He reflected on his ordinary abilities and his determination to survive in the dangerous Naruto world.
Yang Cheng discovered that a mysterious space connected him to two versions of himself from other worlds, and they exchanged memories and abilities. The Shakugan no Shana version had powerful ice-based abilities, while the Naruto and One Piece versions gained room to grow with their new advantages.
Yang Cheng tested his newly gained Azure Flame and chose to hide his power while he built his strength. After school, his friends abandoned him to clean, and Ino asked whether he could defeat Sasuke Uchiha in the upcoming graduation exam; Yang Cheng believed he could win easily.
Yang Cheng returned to the Yamanaka home with Ino after being kept late at the Ninja Academy, where he explained that he had fallen asleep in class because he was nervous about the upcoming graduation exam. Rino Yamanaka fussed over him and encouraged him, while Ino was left wondering whether Rino was really her mother.
Inoichi Yamanaka offered Yang Cheng and Ino extra training to assess their abilities before they graduated from the Ninja Academy. When Yang Cheng’s powerful kick forced Inoichi to use the Substitution Technique, Inoichi realized the boy’s physical strength far exceeded his expectations and decided to get serious.
Yang Cheng surprised Inoichi Yamanaka with his speed, ninjutsu, and taijutsu during a spar, though Inoichi ultimately defeated him with the Mind Body Switch Technique. Yang Cheng judged that he had Chunin-level strength without his trump card and could fight a Jonin with it.
Inoichi struggled with the embarrassment of nearly losing a spar to Yang Cheng, while Ino bragged about the fight to Sakura. At the Ninja Academy graduation exam, Naruto failed the Clone Technique, and Mizuki approached him as Yang Cheng chose not to interfere.
Yang Cheng graduated from the Ninja Academy and was assigned to Team 6 with Mitaraishi Anko as its jonin instructor. The chapter ended as Anko introduced herself and summoned Yang Cheng and his two teammates to leave with her.
Mitaraishi Anko began testing Yang Cheng and his teammates with a surprise attack, eliminating two of them for letting their guard down. She gave Yang Cheng a chance to earn a place on her team, and their assessment continued as he fought back against her techniques.
Yang Cheng passed Anko’s assessment by matching her ninjutsu, and Anko formed Team 6 with him and his two classmates. The next morning, the Third Hokage reviewed the new teams, while Kurenai warned Anko to take her instructor duties seriously.
Naruto Yang Cheng met Devimon Yang Cheng and a Tiger-level slime monster from the One-Punch Man world in the Chaos Space. One-Punch Man Yang Cheng feared his dangerous world and hoped the other Yang Chengs could help him survive the bald hero.
Yang Cheng reflected on his new powers and growing strength, then spent time with Nami and Nojiko in Cocoyasi Village. He encouraged Nami’s crafty habits, leaving Nojiko worried about what Bellemere would think.
Yang Cheng rushed back to Cocoyasi Village after spotting the Arlong Pirates landing and found Arlong demanding protection money while Bellemere lay defeated. Nami and Nojiko offered their saved money to spare Bellemere, leaving the villagers astonished by how much they had.
Yang Cheng rescued Bellemere from Arlong and revealed his strength by sending the fish-man flying. As the Arlong Pirates surrounded him, he told Nami, Nojiko, and the villagers to leave the fight to him.
Yang Cheng defeated Arlong’s officers and faced Arlong in a fierce sword clash. When his weapon began to break, he revealed his Azure Flame power, reinforced the blade with ice, and slashed Arlong across the chest.
Yang Cheng defeated Arlong with his blue flames, and Bellemere mistook the power for a Devil Fruit ability. After the villagers captured the pirates, Yang Cheng planned to take them to the Marines for a reward, leaving for the Marine base with Bellemere and Nami.
Yang Cheng and Bellemere brought the captured Arlong Pirates to the 16th Marine Branch to collect their bounties, where they encountered Rear Admiral Momousagi and a corrupt Captain Nezumi. The chapter ended with Nezumi accusing them of fraud and demanding the pirates, while Momousagi watched.
Yang Cheng challenged Captain Nezumi to prove that he had defeated the Arlong Pirates, while Momousagi arranged a sparring match and watched him evade Nezumi’s gunfire. Yang Cheng then used the Six Powers techniques to vanish from Nezumi’s sight, and Momousagi realized he was trying to kill the captain.
Yang Cheng refused Momousagi’s offer to join the Marines and used the bounty money from the Arlong Pirates to propose building a ship. The chapter ended with Bellemere realizing Yang Cheng might be preparing to leave Cocoyasi Village.
Yang Cheng left Cocoyasi Village to pursue his dream at sea after Bellemere arranged a ship for him, and Nami gave him the nickname “Orange Killer.” As he sailed away, he found a letter from Bellemere among his clothes.
Six years after leaving Cocoyasi Village, Yang Cheng had become the feared bounty hunter Orange Killer and joined Baroque Works as Mr. 5, wielding a Famous Sword that had eaten the Bomb-Bomb Fruit. In Whiskey Town, he and Miss Valentine were sent to assess new recruits, and she questioned why he had not risen higher in the organization.
Yang Cheng and Miss Valentine arrived at Whiskey Peak to help capture the pirate Destruction King Laboon, while Miss Valentine worried that Yang Cheng might leave her behind if he advanced in Baroque Works. The chapter ended as Laboon charged at Miss Valentine and she leaped into the air using her Devil Fruit powers.
Mr. Valentine defeated Laboon and his pirates, while undercover agents Vivi and Igaram worried about Baroque Works’ strength. Yang Cheng unexpectedly offered them a promotion, leaving their covers intact and giving them a chance to rise within the organization.
Yang Cheng revealed that he knew Vivi was Alabasta’s princess and warned that her current rank in Baroque Works would not let her uncover its leader or crimes. He claimed he meant to repay a kindness she had once shown him, leaving Vivi and Igaram wary but listening.
Yang Cheng revealed that Crocodile was behind Alabasta’s drought and unrest, and warned Vivi and Igaram that the Navy would not protect them from him. The Unluckies discovered Yang Cheng and Miss Valentine’s identities, leaving them both on Baroque Works’ blacklist.
