Background / History
Early quests and wolf hunting
Emperor of Sinking initially gained a reputation as a mysterious expert by acquiring chakra before the renowned speedrunner One Sword Opens Heaven. Ye Chen’s replay revealed a less glamorous explanation: the cat he returned for a quest kept escaping, allowing him to find it five times. Emperor of Sinking encouraged the other players’ admiration by maintaining a deliberately inscrutable expression 4.
Attracted by the 80 contribution points awarded for killing a Ninja Beast, he led the players into the forest. Their first charge ended when a Giant Wolf wiped out almost the entire party with one swipe. Learning Eight Extremes Collapse did not immediately improve his results: his punch shattered his own hand against a smaller wolf’s hide, and the pack tore him apart. The other players erected a mock grave using his recovered clothes before he returned from the Resurrection Hall 4 5 8.
Repeated failures exhausted his purchased chakra, forcing him back to quest grinding. He accumulated nearly 100 contribution points in two days, largely by finding missing pigs, cats, and dogs. His eventual hunting breakthrough came after chasing a rabbit to a cliff and seeing it fall to its death. He used chicken drumsticks suspended over the drop to lure the Wolf King into a fatal plunge, earning 120 points. Further wolf kills pushed his contribution total into four figures, and he allowed other players to use the site 9 13 14.
Defeating Youzhi
Emperor of Sinking joined the attack on Youzhi, a Kusagakure Genin who had infiltrated Hidden Jun Village. Although the players’ initial techniques were too weak to threaten him directly, Emperor of Sinking landed a surprise Eight Extremes Collapse strike that broke one of Youzhi’s ribs. One Sword Opens Heaven followed by striking the injured chest with lightning 15 16.
The players repeatedly died, revived, and attacked again, learning to dodge Youzhi’s techniques and coordinating to block his escape. They killed him on the eighth wave, receiving 600 contribution points each. Emperor of Sinking spent his reward on chakra and reached confirmed Genin-level reserves 17.
Locating Kusagakure
Dai Xiaomei recruited Emperor of Sinking for the Kusagakure exploration mission specifically to benefit from his luck. He instead believed she had chosen him for his combat intelligence. Their search ended in capture by a Grass Ninja patrol—which conveniently escorted them straight to their objective. Both received the mission’s 2,000-point reward upon reaching Kusagakure 19 20.
When Ukulele threatened them with torture, Emperor of Sinking killed himself with Eight Extremes Collapse rather than submit to interrogation. He and Dai Xiaomei subsequently respawned in Hidden Jun Village. Their account made him a highly sought-after teammate, while their captors’ alarm prompted Anbu captain Bibiye to order a search for their home village 20 21.
Leading newer players
After the second player batch arrived, Emperor of Sinking recruited three or four male newcomers. He reunited with Dai Xiaomei’s group to hunt enemies and explore the map, but led them into a Kusagakure squad commanded by a ninja Ye Chen judged to be a Jonin 25 26 27.
The squad repeatedly overwhelmed them. Recognized from their earlier captivity, Emperor of Sinking and Dai Xiaomei were restrained alive while their companions were killed; both killed themselves to return to the Respawn Point. The players challenged the squad three times without even touching their opponents’ clothes. The same enemies subsequently became targets of a main quest 27 28.
Rasengan offensive and aftermath
When the Rasengan entered the shop, Emperor of Sinking volunteered to be the first player killed and sent back to the village to purchase it. After mastering the technique, he joined the renewed offensive against Kusagakure. When the enemy squads withdrew, he urged the players to pursue them for contribution points 40 41.
Later, he and Dai Xiaomei investigated thunder and a dark cloud east of the village, finding the aftermath of Ye Chen’s destruction of a Kusagakure attack force. Emperor of Sinking lamented the missed rewards and questioned why the apparent event had not been announced. When village jobs were introduced, he immediately asked for easy duties with high pay; Ye Chen’s answer was Pig Keeper, to the other players’ amusement 45 46.
Appearance
- Has a slight build, making him appear particularly small beside Giant Wolves nearly three meters tall 8.
- Uses an intentionally inscrutable expression when presenting himself as an expert 4.
Personality
Emperor of Sinking is boastful, thick-skinned, and quick to overestimate his abilities. He declared himself invincible after learning Eight Extremes Collapse, despite his earlier defeat by the wolves. His eagerness for instruction could be equally undignified: he clung to Bullfighting Master’s leg, offered all his contribution points, and volunteered to serve as bait 6 8.
He relentlessly pursues rewards, whether by monopolizing available quests, calculating the value of an entire wolf pack, or seeking a well-paid village job. Nevertheless, he freely shared his profitable cliff trap and stated that the game was enjoyable enough to play without rewards 8 9 14 15 46.
His stubbornness keeps him returning after humiliating defeats. That persistence eventually produces genuine combat improvement, especially during the repeated attacks on Youzhi. He is less patient with techniques that do not yield immediate results: when players struggled to use an S-rank ninjutsu, he suggested it might be a money-making sham 9 17 49.
Abilities & Skills
Chakra Enhancement
- Initially increased his strength and other physical abilities fivefold; his demonstration punch penetrated a tree by five centimeters 4.
- Can refine chakra and purchase additional reserves with contribution points 5 17.
- Repeated unsuccessful fights depleted his purchased chakra until even running left him breathless 9.
Eight Extremes Collapse
- Channels chakra into close-range strikes using Bullfighting Master’s contributed taijutsu 7 16.
- Broke Youzhi’s rib with a surprise palm strike to the chest 16.
- Initially lacked the power to injure a small Giant Wolf, shattering his own hand instead 8.
Ninjutsu
- Participated in the players’ five-element attack against Youzhi; the passage does not identify which individual elemental technique he used 15.
- Learned C-Rank techniques and later purchased upgrades for them 18 22.
- Mastered the A-Rank Rasengan and used it during the offensive against Kusagakure 40 41.
Resurrection and Combat Adaptation
- Returns to Hidden Jun Village’s Respawn Point after death, enabling repeated attacks against stronger enemies 16 17.
- Used deliberate death to escape captivity in Kusagakure and later evade the elite squad’s restraints 20 27.
- Improved his dodging and combat proficiency rapidly enough that Youzhi’s Great Fireball failed to hit anyone during a later exchange 17.
- Resurrection does not guarantee victory: the stronger Kusagakure squad repeatedly defeated his group without being touched 27.
Traps and Exceptional Luck
- Devised a cliff trap after accidentally witnessing a fleeing rabbit fall to its death 13.
- Killed the Wolf King and dozens of Giant Wolves by exploiting their attraction to chicken drumsticks 13 14.
- Benefited repeatedly from fortunate circumstances, including the recurring cat quest and capture that delivered him to Kusagakure. The passages present this as remarkable luck, not a named supernatural ability 4 19 20 22.
Equipment / Items
- Chicken drumsticks and rope — Bait suspended between two trees at a cliff’s edge. A wolf’s pounce breaks the rope and sends it over the drop 13.
- Cliff hunting site — His self-designated secret base, later opened to other players for farming wolf kills 13 14.
Relationships
- Dai Xiaomei — Frequent teammate who initially sought his luck. Their successful Kusagakure mission established a recurring partnership, and their boastful antics became familiar entertainment for her livestream viewers 19 21 27 45.
- One Sword Opens Heaven — Fellow early chakra user and combat ally. Followed Emperor of Sinking’s strike on Youzhi with lightning and directed the teams that prevented the enemy’s escape 4 16 17.
- Bullfighting Master — Creator of Eight Extremes Collapse. Emperor of Sinking begged him for instruction before purchasing the technique through the shop 6 7.
- Ye Chen — Village chief who observes his exploits through system replays. Recognizes both his remarkable luck and his comic failures, while benefiting from his quest work and chakra growth 4 8 9 17 22.
- New player followers — Three or four male recruits drawn to his reputation for extraordinary luck 26.
- Youzhi — Enemy Genin whom he wounded and helped defeat through repeated, coordinated attacks 16 17.
- Ukulele — Kusagakure captor whose interrogation attempt Emperor of Sinking escaped through death and resurrection 20 21.
