"The whole island is actually a desert?! How does that even work, meow?! Doesn't it collapse, meow?!"
Ai Haibara Meow stared at the enormous island in the distance, almost entirely composed of sand, with utter incomprehension on her face.
"Is there a Jhen Mohran on this island, meow?" Hua Mei Meow asked curiously too.
"How could there be..." Xie Wen chuckled. "There are only Sea Kings here, no Elder Dragons... Well, probably none. Even if there are, they wouldn't be quite like the Elder Dragons you know."
"Then how does a desert like this form in the ocean, meow?" Ai Haibara Meow simply couldn't figure it out. "Given the properties of sand, it shouldn't be able to stay stable under the pounding of the waves... Especially when there's hardly any vegetation in sight around here, meow."
Xie Wen wasn't particularly surprised. He shrugged and said, "Nature is amazing, especially nature in this world. Haven't you gotten used to that yet?"
Ai Haibara Meow recalled the various unbelievable sights they had seen along the way and had to admit that Xie Wen had a point...
So the Little Kitten stopped dwelling on it and bit Xie Wen hard.
Xie Wen: "..."
Actually, aside from already being used to things in the One Piece world that defied earthly common sense, another reason he was so calm was that... Earth also had an enormous coastal desert.
It was just that the desert called the Namib bordered the sea rather than being an entire desert island, but the principle should be about the same?
Come to think of it, Xie Wen had only learned this when he specifically searched online while reading the manga, after similarly questioning whether the Alabasta Kingdom could exist.
"Ugh... Big Brother Xie Wen, the smell here really stings, meow!"
