While Xie Wen and the others were discussing Imu, the dispute over the Big Mom Pirates also drew to a close.
Actually, calling it a "dispute" was not quite accurate, because neither Whitebeard and Red-Hair, who had arrived first, nor Kaido, who had come a step later, had any intention of fighting.
Whitebeard and Red-Hair did not want to fight, while Kaido knew he could not beat the two of them alone.
But Kaido was equally unwilling to give up such a juicy prize as the Big Mom Pirates so easily, so he cunningly invoked his status as an "ally" and proposed competing fairly with Whitebeard.

Several of their strongest fighters, led by Perospero and Katakuri, were unwilling to let the Big Mom Pirates disappear just like that. They wanted to keep the crew going and decided to join neither side... even though they knew that inheriting the name of the Big Mom Pirates would bring their former enemies to their door.
There was also a small group who no longer even wanted to be pirates and wished to return to their original "homelands," according to their respective bloodlines, to live peaceful
