Xie Wen and the crew subdued Smiley with Klee Meow’s violet flames, then used Suika Meow’s ability to shrink it. Xie Wen left Smiley in Ai Haibara Meow’s care, tasking her with reducing its toxicity or isolating it before it could remain safely aboard the ship.
Suika Meow fought and defeated the fire dragon that came after the Toot Toot Forward, and Sanji Meow prepared its meat for a feast. Smiley watched the dragon’s defeat and ate with the others, relieved it had surrendered earlier.
Xie Wen and the cats named Smiley Sherry, then split up to attract Punk Hazard’s survivors while Sherry was taken to the laboratory. Xie Wen discovered Sherry’s image in Shirahoshi’s Hunter’s Notes entry and wondered whether it hinted at a new summoning pool.
Xie Wen learned that the poisoned survivors on Punk Hazard could not recover their legs, and refused to help the pirate group beyond rescuing them from the gas. After questioning them, he gained information about the island’s research facilities and a rough map to guide his search for the Sakura Dragon Fruit.
Xie Wen searched the abandoned experimental base and found the Sakura Dragon Fruit, an artificial Mythical Zoan. The Hunter’s Notes gave him only a Zoan Fragment, and he kept the fruit for a possible new companion while Ai Haibara Meow studied the base’s research data.
After leaving Punk Hazard, Xie Wen and his companions reached Fordyce, where Shirahoshi experienced the islanders’ kindness toward the Fish-Man Race. They soon departed to avoid endangering the locals and chose a course toward the people pursuing Robin.
Xie Wen kept the Sakura Dragon Fruit for a future companion despite Ai Haibara Meow’s demands, while Vergo worried over Doflamingo’s plans concerning Nico Robin. Vergo’s thoughts were cut short when the Big Mom Pirates and Beasts Pirates were reported heading for the G-5 Base.
Xie Wen led Katakuri and Jack’s crews to the G-5 Branch, where Vergo tried to slow him down with Marine gunfire. The Toot Toot Forward transformed and submerged, leaving the shells to fly toward the pursuing pirates.
Xie Wen brought Robin to the G-5 island as the Marines and the Big Mom and Kaido crews clashed at sea. Vergo arranged for his Marines to hold back the pirates while letting their officers through to fight Xie Wen, and stayed near Robin, leaving his motives unclear to Xie Wen.
Katakuri, Jack, and their pirate crews arrived to seize Nico Robin, and the battle began. Suika Meow fought Jack, setting him on fire and dodging his attacks before preparing another strike to knock him unconscious.
Suika Meow kept Jack enraged and under control while Robin and Scarlet Tiger-sama stopped the Beasts Pirates from joining the fight. Link Meow battled Who's-Who, who transformed into his saber-toothed tiger Human-Beast Form, and their clash left Link Meow pushed back but still fighting.
Link Meow broke Who's-Who's fangs while Suika Meow, Hua Mei Meow, and Link Meow held back the Beasts Pirates. Jinx Meow attacked the Big Mom Pirates with explosives and gunfire, and Meow Jūshirō helped her escape Katakuri's counterattack as another fighter confronted him.
Xie Wen fought Katakuri to test his Observation Haki Killer and tried to overcome Katakuri’s future sight with increasingly fast attacks. The fight remained unresolved as Xie Wen began changing his presence unpredictably.
Xie Wen used his newly developed Undying Seal Art to disrupt Katakuri’s future sight, then resumed their fight with a shield and sword to improve his Observation Haki. The battle reached a crisis when Katakuri attacked the cats as well as Xie Wen, prompting Xie Wen to counter with Scarlet Sky’s End.
Meow Jūshirō overwhelmed Cracker with water-based sword attacks, but Katakuri intervened before he could finish him. Katakuri transformed the ground into mochi and carried the injured Cracker away.
Klee Meow and the other cats fought the Big Mom Pirates as Katakuri rescued his younger brothers and retreated. Xie Wen wounded Katakuri and suspected Vergo was about to act, so he called the cats back to protect Robin.
Vergo abandoned his plan to capture Nico Robin after seeing Xie Wen's strength, but Kaido's sudden arrival turned the battle into a new crisis. Kaido attacked the Marines and then charged Xie Wen, who prepared and met him head-on.
Xie Wen and the cats fought Kaido long enough to create an opening, then escaped aboard the airborne Dudu. As they relaxed, an unknown person appeared on deck, touched Robin, and vanished with her.
Triff captured Robin aboard a G-5 Branch Marine warship during the battle with Kaido and tried to take her away, but Xie Wen and the cats returned to rescue her. The chapter ended with a lightning strike hitting Triff as Robin prepared to fight back.
Xie Wen and the cats returned to rescue Robin from a Warp-Warp Fruit user while Kaido continued attacking the G-5 Branch. After Robin escaped aboard the Dudu, Kaido attacked Xie Wen, who found that Seastone did not restrain him and called for Plan C.
Xie Wen and the cats helped the Toot Toot Forward escape Kaido, while Xie Wen and Sanji Meow drew Kaido away by diving into the sea. Kaido followed them underwater, and Xie Wen continued swimming with another backup plan still in reserve.
After escaping Kaido underwater, Xie Wen and Sanji Meow confirmed that the other cats were safe and reunited by Den Den Mushi. Xie Wen used the Hunter’s Notes to locate the Palicoes and set off toward them.
After news spread that Xie Wen and the Palico Research Commission had escaped Kaido twice, the crew reached a tiny drift island and reunited with their ship. Xie Wen and Sanji Meow shared a meal and resumed their usual bickering just as Scarlet Tiger-sama arrived.
After escaping danger, Xie Wen reunited with his worried companions and received their affection and support. Robin finally approached him with a quiet embrace, while the cats’ mysterious new plan remained unrevealed.
Xie Wen questioned Triff, the Warp-Warp Fruit user who had attacked them, but learned nothing before killing him and trying to carve out his Devil Fruit. He instead found a photograph identifying Triff’s employer as Ochoku, and decided to postpone confronting him until the crew sailed near Hachinosu.
