Xie Wen toured Loguetown with Klee Meow and Sanji Meow, dealt with thugs who tried to steal them, and ordered clothes for the cats. Discovering that Yubashiri had completed a Summon Ticket, he summoned a new Palico, but the chapter ended before it appeared.
Xie Wen summoned the black Palico Hiko Seijūrō, who pledged himself to Xie Wen and agreed to teach him swordsmanship. After learning about the pirate world, Meowjūrō became eager to test himself against its swordsmen, while Xie Wen discovered that he had created his own version of the Hiten-Mitsurugi Style.
Xie Wen introduced Meow Jūshirō to Haki, and the prodigious cat quickly learned to use it. Meow Jūshirō ended the chapter demonstrating Armament Haki on his sword.
Xie Wen bonded with Meow Jūshirō, Klee Meow, and Sanji Meow before leaving Loguetown with his cats. Pirate ships surrounded Explorer One, and Klee Meow prepared to attack them with bombs.
Xie Wen and the cats defeated a group of East Blue slave-trading pirates, collected the bounties of the most valuable captives, and sank the rest. He then set course for an uninhabited island so Meow Jūshirō could teach him Flying Cat Hiten-Mitsurugi Style.
Xie Wen sparred with Meow Jūshirō to study the cat samurai’s Flying Cat Hiten-Mitsurugi Style. Meow Jūshirō revealed a powerful secret technique, leaving Xie Wen eager to learn from him.
Xie Wen learned the Flying Cat Hiten-Mitsurugi Style and helped Meow Jūshirō train his Haki by enduring Klee Meow’s increasingly powerful bombs. The chapter left them continuing the explosive training on the island.
After Klee Meow’s explosive training left Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō exhausted, Xie Wen explained why Meow Jūshirō had not awakened Observation Haki and proposed training him through surprise attacks. He then tried to resume his own training, but Klee Meow clung to him and asked for a story.
Xie Wen searched the East Blue for Nami’s hometown and Arlong’s base, hoping to find reliable charts and the region’s highest-bounty pirate. After following Klee Meow’s directions, the group spotted a ship shaped like a fish.
Xie Wen and the cats reached the seafaring restaurant Baratie, where Sanji Meow met the young human Sanji and the crew learned their names were the same. The Baratie staff laughed at Sanji Meow, provoking the cats as Xie Wen sensed danger.
Xie Wen and the cats visited Baratie, where Sanji Meow and Zeff’s Sanji clashed over their shared name and similar looks. After Zeff took the two Sanjis into the kitchen, the group sampled the restaurant’s dishes, and Sanji Meow changed his opinion of the soup when he noticed Sanji’s reaction.
Xie Wen and the cats sampled the Baratie’s courses, and Sanji Meow criticized Sanji’s soup while praising the other dishes. After Zeff kicked Sanji for rejecting the criticism, Xie Wen proposed a cooking contest between the two Sanjis, leaving the challenge ahead.
Sanji challenged Sanji Meow to a cooking contest after Xie Wen suggested they settle whose cooking was better. The contest began at Baratie with three rounds, leaving the dishes and winner unknown.
Xie Wen and the cats watched Sanji and Sanji Meow compete in cooking at the Baratie, where Sanji won the dessert round but Sanji Meow’s dishes delighted the cats. Zeff agreed to lend Xie Wen nautical charts and a sailing log, while the contest continued with seafood dishes.
Sanji Meow defeated Sanji in the final cooking round, winning their bet and giving Sanji the nickname Squid Tentacles. Xie Wen proposed a fight to settle Sanji and Sanji Meow’s argument over what Sanji should be called, and they both agreed.
Sanji and Sanji Meow fought on the Baratie’s expanded deck over whose name would prevail. Sanji Meow dodged every attack with Observation Haki and then launched a counterattack, leaving Sanji’s defeat—and the threat of being renamed Squid Tentacles—imminent.
Sanji Meow defeated Sanji in their sparring match using his electric Mink-style Diable Jambe and gave him the humiliating nickname Squid Tentacles. Xie Wen took the cats and the paralyzed Sanji away, while Zeff agreed to give Sanji Meow pointers on his rough kicking techniques.
Xie Wen and the cats stayed at Baratie while Sanji Meow trained with Zeff, then left for Cocoyasi Village to confront the Arlong Pirates. Their departure left Sanji and the cooks bidding them farewell.
The author announced that the novel would become paid the next year, discussed release plans and subscriptions, and explained how the story’s premise and direction developed. The chapter ended with the author inviting reader suggestions while noting that future summoned characters would draw from a variety of works.
Xie Wen dealt with Sanji Meow’s attempt to smoke dried catnip before bringing the Explorer One to the Conomi Islands, where the Arlong Pirates oppressed the local residents. After Meow Jūshirō spotted something happening nearby, Xie Wen decided to dock and investigate.
Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō rescued Kesha Town from Chew and confronted the Arlong Pirates at Arlong Park. Xie Wen killed Arlong and his crew, leaving the villagers free from their rule.
Xie Wen defeated the Arlong Pirates, recovered their stolen treasure and Nami’s charts, and returned to his ship with a new Summon Ticket. Sanji Meow began the summon, leaving the identity of the new companion unknown.
Xie Wen used the Summon Ticket to summon Li Huamei, a capable navigator who joined his crew as an Exploration Palico. After welcoming her and explaining their situation, the group prepared to attend a feast, with Huamei ready to help guide them through the ocean-dominated One Piece world.
After defeating Arlong, Xie Wen and the cats attended a grateful village’s banquet, where he met Nami and Nojiko and learned how Arlong had forced Nami to work for him. The cats reunited with Xie Wen after exploring the village and collecting gifts.
At Arlong Park, Xie Wen decided Meow Jūshirō needed a bath and tried to wash Klee Meow too. Klee used the Flame-Flame Fruit to clean herself, while Xie Wen began bathing Meow Jūshirō as the other cats listened to his cries.
