A journey into the mysteries, starting with Harry Potter
Author: Brainless Tofu Pudding
Synopsis:
(The new book is expected to launch in May. I hope you'll all support it then.)
Edward had transmigrated again, this time into the world of Lord of the Mysteries.
From then on, this world had an outsider who could regularly travel between two worlds.
So, what would he bring to both worlds?
PS1: This is a traditional fanfic, not a story that completely abandons the original cast. The female lead is Miss Justice, and the Queen may join later.
PS2: The protagonist's Pathway is partially original. He follows [Apprentice] early on, with changes beginning midway through.
PS3: The protagonist is practically invincible against opponents at his own level, but he can't go around slaughtering high Sequence opponents indiscriminately.
Chapter 1: Miss Justice, your dog has been kidnapped!
Wand in hand, Edward stared blankly at the enormous garden that had suddenly appeared before him, stunned.
The last time he had been this shocked was three years ago, when he had inexplicably transmigrated into the world of Harry Potter and become a first-year student at Hogwarts.
As someone who had boarded the transmigration express, Edward had been both lucky and unlucky. Unfortunately, he hadn't gotten the much-loved system. Fortunately, this body was fairly talented: by his third year, he had already mastered most spells.
However, he was already sixteen this year-unlike the other Hogwarts students, who normally enrolled at eleven, Edward hadn't entered Hogwarts until fourteen. Sometimes he wondered whether his supposed "talent" was simply the natural advantage of being three years older.
As for why he had enrolled at fourteen, he had no idea-he had none of this body's memories from before his arrival. He had even borrowed Dumbledore's Pensieve specifically to investigate, but unfortunately, he could only view the memories formed after he had arrived in this world.
Edward shook his head and returned to reality. "Just now... I pushed open the Room of Requirement's door and walked in, like always. Sure, it can turn into whatever place you want, but it should still be a 'room,' right? What's with this enormous garden?"
A thought struck him. Could someone have secretly replaced the Room of Requirement's door with a Portkey?
At that thought, Edward immediately waved his wand and cast a Disillusionment Charm and a Shield Charm on himself. On the highest alert, he quickly scanned his surroundings.
Before him lay an exceptionally magnificent garden, its vibrant flowers swaying gently in the breeze beneath the sunlight. The trees throughout it and the vines along the walls were all neatly trimmed, clearly tended to regularly.
In a shady corner of the garden stood a small hanging chair, with a lady's blue lace hat lying casually on it. Its owner might have left it there by accident.
Not far away stood a luxurious European-style villa, like a small castle, making its owner's wealth abundantly clear.
Edward frowned slightly. Could this be Malfoy's... or some other pure-blood family's estate? Ugh, the air here really stinks.
He cautiously approached the villa. When he was only a dozen or so meters from its front door, a girl in a maid's uniform hurried over from the side, and he quickly followed her.
The maid walked into the lavishly decorated villa and stopped outside a bedroom, knocking gently. "Miss, the ball is about to begin. It's time to change."
There was no response from inside. The maid sighed. "I'll have them bring your gown over first."
As the maid turned to leave, Edward appeared out of thin air, his wand shooting out a beam of light. "Petrificus Totalus."
The maid's body rapidly stiffened and froze in place, her eyes wide with terror.
Edward strode forward and met the maid's eyes. "Legilimency."
"Woof!"
An enormous golden dog lunged out of the shadows. Edward instinctively fired a Stupefy at her, and the golden dog yelped as she was blasted away.
Just then, a flood of information from Legilimency poured into his mind. The maid's memories were simple: looking after her mistress, directing the other maids' work, eating, sleeping, looking after her mistress.
Nothing useful?
The thought had barely formed when a series of familiar yet unfamiliar images suddenly surfaced:
The crimson moon, the Church of Evernight, Audrey Hall, Backlund, Earl Hall...
Edward's face instantly drained of color. "Audrey... Backlund... the crimson moon..."
"This is the world of Lord of the Mysteries!!!"
Without enough strength, the more you know, the greater the danger. The more you know, the more easily you become corrupted. The more you know, the faster you die...
And he had previously read the entirety of Lord of the Mysteries!
Wait! If this is Lord of the Mysteries, the maid should have been speaking Loenese just now. Why could I understand her?
Suddenly, the nerves in his brain began throbbing violently, as if his head were about to explode, as if something unimaginably dangerous and terrifying was about to happen.
But the next second, Edward felt a burning sensation on the back of his hand, where several indistinct lines faintly appeared. Then a cooling sensation washed down from the top of his head-the intense sense of impending danger vanished.
He froze, but there was no time to think. He abruptly raised his wand, pointed it at himself, and growled through gritted teeth, "Obliviate!"
Bang! Edward flew backward two meters and crashed to the floor.
A moment later, he sat up, clutching his forehead with a pained expression. "Can somebody tell me why a Memory Charm can send someone flying two meters?"
Edward picked up his fallen wand and staggered to his feet. "That was insane. I actually used Obliviate on myself. Luckily, the Memory Charm can selectively erase memories. I only forgot..."
He paused. "What did I forget again?"
The more you know, the faster you die!
That thought immediately surfaced. So I erased every memory I shouldn't have.
"This is the world of Lord of the Mysteries. This is Backlund. This is Miss Justice's family villa, and this golden retriever on the floor..."
Edward turned his gaze back to the unconscious giant golden retriever, only to catch her cautiously inching along the floor, a perfect demonstration of fooling nobody but herself.
Feeling Edward's gaze, the golden retriever flopped down again with a thud and continued playing dead. Susie: I'm just a dog. What bad intentions could I possibly have?
Is this the future Dog of Imagination? Why did she wake up so quickly?
Stupefy!
Susie yelped again and passed out.
Edward walked over, rubbed her head a few times, and muttered softly, "Tsk, this fur is as smooth as silk. She must eat very well."
He glanced at the room the maid had knocked on earlier. That should be Miss Justice Audrey Hall's bedroom. Susie's surprise attack, followed by his own two-meter flight, had made quite a racket, yet Miss Justice hadn't reacted at all-was she attending a Tarot Gathering?
"Hmm, I should get out of here first. I think Earl Hall's household has Beyonders. A Disillusionment Charm can fool ordinary eyes, but there's no telling whether it'll work on Beyonders who can activate Spirit Vision."
He would think about returning to the Harry Potter world once he was safe.
Two casts of Transfiguration turned the petrified maid and the unconscious Susie into a chair and a flowerpot. Then he renewed his Disillusionment Charm,
and turned toward the exit.
Just as he approached the doorway, two maids hurried over, looking around and whispering:
"The noise came from here just now, didn't it?"
"But there's nothing here. Didn't Annie come to fetch Miss? Where is she?"
"I don't know. Huh? Why is there an extra chair over there?"
"Did Annie leave it?"
The two maids approached as they spoke. Edward pressed his back against the wall and carefully avoided them.
"Emily, am... am I seeing things? That flowerpot seems to have gotten bigger?"
"The... the flowerpot is growing fur!"
"Susie! It's Susie!"
"Someone, come quick! Susie's turned into a flowerpot!"
"No, the flowerpot turned into Susie."
The two maids screamed, their faces pale.
No longer caring about the sound of his footsteps, Edward broke into a run.
I should've shamelessly tagged along to learn Apparition back then!
At Hogwarts, Apparition was "advanced magic" that only sixth-year students aged seventeen or older could learn. The risk of Splinching was one reason; another was that Apparition was forbidden within Hogwarts. Students had to wait until sixth year for a specialist instructor from the Ministry of Magic to conduct their initial training in the Great Hall, where the restriction on Apparition was temporarily lifted, before continuing their lessons in Hogsmeade.
With his excellent grades and love of learning, Edward had always been well liked by most professors, and he was on particularly good terms with Headmaster Dumbledore-Dumbledore himself had brought him from the orphanage to Hogwarts. Over the past three years, he had therefore managed to sit in on all sorts of classes, learning plenty of magic and knowledge far beyond the third-year curriculum.
"Woof!"
A gust of wind rushed at him from behind. Susie had returned to normal and woken up again!
Edward had no time to cast a spell and could only scramble backward to dodge.
Susie landed on the floor with a thump, then kicked hard with her hind legs and slid rapidly forward. She bit down on Edward's trouser leg and crossed her front legs, locking them tightly around one of his legs.
Shock and anger surged through Edward:
A Beyonder dog really can see me under a Disillusionment Charm, and she's highly resistant to magic too!
He hurled another seven or eight Stunning Spells at her as though they cost nothing, and his figure became visible. The two maids screamed again, "Help! An assassin! Help!"
Their screams rang throughout the villa, and hurried footsteps approached from every direction.
"This damn dog actually used a dirty trick!"
Cursing, Edward hit Susie with a Leg-Locker Curse as well. Without bothering to wait for her front legs to release him, he ran outside, dragging her along.
Behind him, the maids shouted themselves hoarse:
"Help! Someone's kidnapped Miss's dog!"
Chapter 2: Miss Justice has been kidnapped too!
Edward had only just managed to pull his leg free when he saw a crowd rushing toward him. At their head was Earl Hall, whose figure and skin had lost their youthful form with age. His blue eyes were full of wariness. "Who are you!"
Edward ignored him completely and concealed himself with another Disillusionment Charm.
Earl Hall's expression darkened. He immediately addressed his eldest son, Hibbert Hall, behind him. "Hibbert!"
Hibbert nodded, stepped back, and disappeared into the crowd before leaving.
Surrounded by servants and guards, Earl Hall regained his composure:
"My friend, whatever you need, just say the word. I can promise you'll be allowed to take it and leave safely."
