As Verdu went to divine the missing ship’s location, a terrifying presence appeared through a rotten wooden door and froze Edward in place.

• Edward delivered blood from Medici’s descendants to Medici, who told him to find two other kinds of blood before he could get the real Card of Blasphemy.

Meanwhile, Fors and Xio were discovered while investigating Yuriges’s death and escaped to Cherwood Borough, where they wondered whether their commission still merited payment.

After leaving the church, Edward received a letter from Emlyn and learned that Black Bird had picked up its nickname habit from a headless woman.
