After absorbing Hamir's magical talent for the Rings of Raggadorr, Wang Yang could feel his mastery of the spell growing more refined, his understanding clearer.
And though this old man looked perfectly ordinary, he was anything but.
Despite missing a hand, he wielded magic with incredible skill and power.
Seeing the look in Wang Yang's eyes, Hamir regained a measure of confidence, recovering somewhat from the blow he had suffered.
The apprentice before him was indeed extraordinarily gifted, but he still lacked polish.
"Would you like me to give you some pointers?"
Hamir looked at Wang Yang as he spoke. His understanding of magic was naturally deeper than Wong's.
Even a genius like the one before him still needed his guidance.
"Thank you, Master Hamir!"
Wang Yang spoke respectfully.
At Wang Yang's words, Hamir's face lit up with delight, and he immediately began explaining.
He failed to notice that Wong was watching him with pity.
After all, Wang Yang's talent was simply too extraordinary.
Once Master Hamir realized that, he would probably regret this.
Wang Yang had no idea what Wong was thinking. He listened attentively as Hamir explained the spell.
Like a dried-out sponge, he soaked up Hamir's knowledge, his understanding of magic growing ever deeper.
And Master Hamir truly deserved his reputation as a master of magical scholarship. His insights into magic far surpassed Wong's.
As Hamir watched Wang Yang, anticipation began to fill his eyes.
Nothing excited him more than teaching a genius who was looking at him with such respect.
Especially with Wong watching from the sidelines.
When it comes to teaching students, I'm the one to watch. With that thought, Hamir grew even more earnest.
Wong's face remained expressionless, but inwardly, he found this increasingly amusing.
Hamir is so old, yet still so naive. Hasn't he noticed the Rings of Raggadorr changing in Wang Yang's hands?
After a while, Hamir caught on as well.
Teaching a genius had made him a little excited, but that did not mean he was an idiot.
He, too, noticed that the Rings of Raggadorr in Wang Yang's hands had changed and were rapidly becoming more refined.
Their strength was already approaching that of his own Rings of Raggadorr.
Wait, that's not right.
Normally, after listening to a sorcerer's explanation, shouldn't you go back and reflect on it carefully, then start correcting your shortcomings once you've gained some insight?
How can this kid improve his magic while he's still listening to me?
How is that possible?
Hamir was stunned.
He was beginning to question everything. Is this what a genius is?
Someone who can keep rapidly refining his magic, beyond anything an ordinary person can match?
Hamir already had an inkling, but he still could not believe it.
Can someone really be this incredible?
Even though it was happening right before his eyes, he still could not believe it.
For so many years, he had believed magic was difficult to learn, yet now something like this had happened.
Wong watched from the side.
You're finally questioning everything, aren't you? You finally can't believe it either.
It was as though Wang Yang had come to shatter their long-held beliefs.
Wang Yang had accomplished everything they had thought impossible.
It was downright terrifying.
And Hamir had walked right into it himself, volunteering to experience this feeling. What a fool.
Of course, having someone share the burden let Wong relax quite a bit.
Hamir, meanwhile, stared at Wang Yang with a strange expression, utterly shocked.
The boy was like a monster.
Wang Yang could not only remember something after hearing it once, but also grasp it thoroughly and apply it.
Even Hamir, who had studied magic for so many years, had never encountered anyone like him.
If I keep explaining, won't this kid catch up to me?
By comparison, he felt as though all those years of his life had gone to waste.
"All right, all right, Wang Yang. That's enough instruction for today!"
Hamir was still smiling, but his smile had grown strained.
Anyone faced with this situation would probably struggle to smile.
"Master Hamir, I still feel I have many shortcomings. I hope you'll continue explaining!"
Wang Yang spoke respectfully.
Hamir's instruction had greatly improved his understanding of magic. Naturally, he hoped Hamir would continue. Perhaps some more Magic Talent Fragments would drop, too.
But seeing Wang Yang's expression left Hamir with deeply mixed feelings.
In this short span of time, he had shared nearly all his insights into the Rings of Raggadorr. More importantly, Wang Yang had absorbed them all.
There was no sense of being a teacher at all.
If this continued, they would probably end up on equal footing.
Hamir did not object to that, but the boy could at least slow down a little. What was he supposed to make of someone learning it all in a single day?
Hamir frowned, his expression turning serious. "You mustn't rush when learning magic, Wang Yang. You should understand that going too far is just as bad as falling short!"
"The most important thing is to build a solid foundation first!"
"You must reflect carefully on everything you learn!"
Since Master Hamir had put it that way, Wang Yang could only nod.
Besides, he was in no hurry. He had only been studying for a few days. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future to have these Masters of the Mystic Arts teach him magic.
"Yes, Master. I'll work hard to build a solid foundation!"
Wang Yang replied respectfully.
Hearing Wang Yang's response, Hamir felt a little embarrassed as a Master of the Mystic Arts, especially before someone so obedient and so gifted.
"Ahem, Wang Yang, I can see that your grasp of magic is already quite solid!"
"I'll teach you another spell I developed!"
Hamir spoke confidently.
Kamar-Taj had a wide variety of spells, and with Hamir's talent, he had created several of his own.
Those spells were all immensely powerful.
Aikenrol Chaos Thunder Spirit!
Although Hamir had created this spell himself.
More importantly, it required multiple people to cast. Casting it alone multiplied the difficulty.
Given Wang Yang's extraordinary talent, perhaps only a spell like this could stump him.
When Wang Yang heard that Hamir was going to teach him another spell, he was naturally delighted.
"Thank you, Master Hamir!"
At Wang Yang's words, Hamir smiled and shook his head. "There's no need to thank me. Fundamentally, all of Kamar-Taj's magic is available to everyone!"
Wang Yang remained grateful.
Perhaps all the magic in Kamar-Taj was available to everyone, but that only meant the spellbooks. Most sorcerers would not readily teach others their personal insights into magic.
Now that Hamir was willing to teach him, he was naturally deeply grateful.
"Next, Wong and I will demonstrate it for you!"
Before you continue
