BOOM!!
The energy blast slammed into Venom's face and exploded violently, blowing a hole straight through Wolverine's face.
Hit by that blast, Venom couldn't even spare the attention to heal Wolverine's injuries.
He stared at the man before him in utter bewilderment, finding the whole thing absurd.
I'm not even in Marvel anymore, and that fucking Iron Man is still chasing me?
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A barrage of energy blasts erupted from Lynn's hands, their tremendous impact sending Venom Wolverine flying.
His body sailed several meters backward like a rag doll before crashing heavily to the ground.
Watching from beside the street, Harley Quinn frantically pulled the trigger as well, firing rockets at him.
"Hahaha! Kick him while he's down! Dinosaur War God, we're gonna slaughter them all!!"
Harley Quinn wore a crazed grin, as though madness were simply her nature.
The violent explosions nearly tore the entire block apart. Countless buildings were caught in the blasts, and flames soared into the sky.
Only after bombarding him for several minutes did the two stop flattening the area with firepower.
Neon lights between the high-rises shone down on countless low buildings blasted into collapsed heaps.
Rubble littered the entire street, and smoke filled the air. The place had become a wasteland.
"Is he dead?" Harley put away her rocket launcher and stared ahead.
"No." Lynn glanced at his quest log and shook his head. "Not yet."
He hadn't received a quest completion notification, which meant Venom Wolverine had survived that furious bombardment.
CRASH!!
A concrete wall toppled to the ground, kicking up clouds of dust.
A figure flickered into view through the dispersing smoke. He looked much shorter than before, probably a little over a meter tall.
"ROAR!!"
A beastlike roar came from ahead.
Then, wearing a withered face, the figure roared and swung his adamantium claws, lunging at them like a wolf.
When Harley got a clear look at his face, her scalp prickled, and she couldn't help swearing.
"Holy shit! What the fuck is that thing? A zombie from the movies, or some other fucked-up shit?"
She swore she'd never seen such a corpse-like monster before.
Oh, wait, isn't there a big zombie out in the suburbs of Gotham... Solomon something?
Harley scratched the back of her head and frowned slightly, unable to remember.
"Shit!" She suddenly slapped herself hard across the face, leaving her right cheek visibly red and swollen.
That slap set her astonishing intellect racing, and she remembered his name.
"Holy shit! You're one of Solomon Grundy's kind?!"
Lynn recognized the charging monster at a glance.
"He's not one of Solomon Grundy's kind. He's Zombie Wolverine from next door."
Venom must have fled Zombie Wolverine's body just now, leaving Zombie Wolverine to charge out on his own.
But the question was... where had Venom gone?
"ROAR!!"
Zombie Wolverine rushed up to Lynn and immediately reached for his face. Lynn raised his arm and drove an elbow into his head.
Before Zombie Wolverine could react, the Boss's Martial Soul True Body behind Lynn brought an elbow crashing down as well.
"Man!"
Lynn followed up with an energy blast straight ahead, sending Zombie Wolverine crashing to the ground like a kite with its string cut.
He wasn't done yet. Propelled by the Iron Man Armor, Lynn instantly rushed up to Zombie Wolverine again and stomped directly on the vulnerable spot between his legs.
"Huh? Zombies can feel pain there too?" Seeing Zombie Wolverine's pained reaction, Lynn grew curious.
"You're not much of a proper zombie, are you? Still, that healing factor and adamantium skeleton are a real pain. Let's see if I can burn you to death..."
With that thought, Lynn's leg armor instantly began spewing terrifyingly hot flames, slowly roasting Zombie Wolverine's vulnerable spot.
Shrill screams and roars tore from Zombie Wolverine's mouth.
His rotting flesh burned to charcoal, exposing adamantium bones that gleamed with a metallic sheen.
But under the effects of his healing factor, pink buds of flesh slowly began sprouting beneath the charred tissue.
Only, the moment that new flesh emerged between his legs, Lynn's flames burned it away.
If Zombie Wolverine could speak, he probably would have cursed eighteen generations of Lynn's ancestors by now.
"It's working." Lynn's eyes lit up.
Since it worked, he would just keep burning. He refused to believe he couldn't burn Zombie Wolverine to death.
Then he could even dismantle the adamantium skeleton and use it as equipment.
And so, for the next stretch of time, Zombie Wolverine's entire body entered a peculiar state of being both alive and dead.
We call this-Schrödinger's Zombie Wolverine.
Neon signs lined the street one after another, like scattered playing cards.
"What if I fail at what my godfather asked me to do?"
Riding on Batman's back, Jason looked worried.
"Relax. Your godfather only told you to keep an eye on me. He didn't say I had to stay in his villa."
Beneath the night sky, Batman carried Jason on his back and hurried toward Gotham Harbor.
"As long as I take you with me, you're still technically completing your task. I'm sure he'll help resurrect your parents."
As the two spoke, a mass of black slime suddenly lunged toward Batman's chest.
The moment Venom saw Batman, a wave of delight surged through his entire body.
He had only ever felt this way... around Spider-Man.
"Oh ho ho..."
Venom let out a strange laugh, then roared as he lunged at Batman's chest.
"A man like Spider-Man... let me wrap myself around you!"
He could already imagine taking control of this man and trampling that Iron Man from earlier beneath his feet.
Startled by the monster's sudden appearance, Batman hurriedly dodged to the side with Jason on his back.
But
The mass of black slime seemed to have a mind of its own. Even after Batman dodged, it continued lunging toward his face.
Just as Venom was about to attach himself to Batman-
"Watch out, Master!"
Alfred suddenly rushed out from beside the street and shoved Batman away. The black slime struck his shoulder.
"Alfred?"
Batman froze at the sight. Then he watched the black slime instantly envelop Alfred's entire body.
Venom's body surged like a tide, wrapping Alfred inside in an instant before transforming into a terrifying monster over three meters tall.
At the sight, Batman's expression immediately grew grave.
"What is that thing? Why can it attach itself to Alfred?"
"It's a monster from a comic."
Clad in the Iron Man Armor, Lynn came streaking through the dark night sky.
He slowly landed, looking at Batman with some surprise.
"I didn't expect you to actually escape."
"He's still keeping an eye on me. He hasn't failed the task you gave him."
Batman pointed at Jason on his back as he explained, seemingly afraid Lynn would go back on his earlier agreement with Jason because of him.
Lynn understood what he meant. He silently glanced at Jason and Batman, their anxious figures reflected in his dark eyes.
Just as Jason was growing uneasy-
"I said I'd resurrect Jason's parents, and I'll keep my word."
Jason abruptly turned to exchange a look with Batman, and each saw joy on the other's face.
Lynn turned toward Venom and raised an eyebrow, his expression a little odd.
"Venom, give it a rest. Don't you think attaching yourself to all these people and wrapping around their bodies makes you a bit like... some kind of s*x toy?"
Venom: ???
You're fucking saying I'm like a fleshli*ht, huh?
