Seeing Lynn's stiff expression, Willis took a deep breath, as though he had made some sort of decision.
"Just lend me fifty thousand dollars. I, Willis Todd, will do anything to pay you back!"
He paused, then continued:
"If you don't believe me, I... I can kill someone for you. Anyone you want."
"Forget it. I'll cover the hundred thousand for you." Lynn waved a hand. "I might be a player, but I still have some morals."
Batman had made the money Joker stole from Gotham Bank disappear. Lynn could just rob Batman later.
If Willis couldn't scrape together the money, Two-Face would probably kill the Todd Family.
Lynn might have been a vicious, ruthless player, but Willis was the NPC teammate he had chosen. He still had some basic morals.
"But let's get this straight first. You have to make Jason call me his godfather."
"Sure." Willis nodded and immediately started leading Lynn toward the stairs.
"Wait, do you even know my name?"
"..."
Nothing was scarier than the air suddenly falling silent~
Willis froze. He really didn't seem to know this lunatic's name.
"Were you going to introduce me to Jason as his godfather, Briar?" Lynn quipped.
"Then what's your name?"
"You can call me Dinosaur War God."
At that moment, Willis felt as though speechlessness was his native language.
Maybe he should find a chance to have someone take this guy to Arkham Asylum for an examination?
He felt certain the man before him belonged in Arkham Asylum even more than Joker did.
As they walked, Lynn casually pulled a wallet from his pocket.
"Here. Your wallet."
Willis patted all his pockets, looking confused.
"Why do you have my wallet?"
He hadn't even noticed anyone stealing it.
"Sorry about that. Forgot to turn off auto-loot."
Besides Willis's wallet, Lynn also pulled a whole pile of little black devices bearing bat symbols from his pockets.
Willis stared at the gadgets in his hand, utterly bewildered.
"What are these?"
What was this guy's deal? Where had he gotten all these bizarre things?
"Some psychopath's listening devices."
Lynn casually tossed the bugs away. The round little devices landed right in the corner of the alley, next to several men and women engaged in an illegal transaction.
"Your place is seriously shabby."
Lynn made his way through the narrow, filthy stairwell while watching the system minimap gradually light up.
He had assumed that however badly Willis was doing, his home would at least look fit for human habitation.
Instead, when the door opened, the room that greeted him was an absolute disaster. Even a dog wouldn't live there.
All kinds of garbage were piled in a corner, with flies and countless other insects swarming around.
A skeletal woman with a haggard face leaned weakly against the couch. The dark circles beneath her eyes put a panda's to shame.
A skinny little boy who looked sickly sat on the filthy floor, holding a toy.
It was impossible to tell what shape the toy was supposed to be. It looked like assorted trash and plastic toy fragments had been melted together with a lighter.
[Side quest "Escape Batman's pursuit" completed] [Rewards obtained: Blood Pack (fully heals any injury or illness-truly the mother of all bleeding hearts), Iron Man's Iron Man Armor, Mark 3 (from Marvel Rivals, essential gear for Bat Gang members, all attributes +5.2, durability 100)]
The system notifications appeared before Lynn.
He finally had a decent set of gear.
Lynn felt a little excited.
Iron Man's Mark III might not have been particularly powerful, but at least it gave a hefty attribute boost.
But that durability... was it actually a consumable?
Oh well. Having it was better than nothing.
Willis kicked aside the garbage at his feet, walked over to Jason, and patted his head.
"You can take the bed tonight. Jason, Katherine, and I will sleep on the couch."
"Don't bother. This place isn't fit for people to live in. I've got a few villas. Why don't you bring Jason and your wife over?" Lynn offered.
"You only have a little over a hundred thousand dollars. I'm already grateful enough that you're lending me a hundred thousand."
Willis shook his head. In his eyes, Lynn had to be lying. He was probably just another criminal who made a living through robbery, like Willis himself.
After all, if the guy really owned several villas, he would be genuinely rich.
What rich man in Gotham would have nothing better to do than go out at night dressed in such a freakish outfit and match wits with supercriminals?
"Forget it, then." Lynn shook his head and turned his attention to Jason.
Jason looked barely over ten at this point. He hid behind Willis's leg, peering timidly at Lynn.
"Jason, say hello to your godfather."
Jason: ???
Willis gave an awkward smile and explained to Jason, "Jason, he really is your godfather."
"Then what's his name?" Jason asked timidly, looking confused.
"You can call me Dinosaur..."
Before Lynn could finish, Willis cut him off.
"Just call him your godfather. His name doesn't matter. Doesn't matter."
Dinosaur War God? How could anyone possibly have a name like that?
He didn't want his son knowing he was hanging around with a lunatic.
"Whatever. My quest's already complete, so none of that matters."
Lynn casually took out a hundred thousand dollars in cash and set it on the Todd Family's table.
Willis and Jason stared, dumbfounded, as he produced a stack of bills out of thin air.
"Where did you get that money from? Are you a magician? Or some other weird thing?"
"I told you, I'm a player. Oh, right. I'm also Dinosaur War God of the Bat Gang."
Lynn looked at Jason's sickly appearance, thought for a moment, and took out the Blood Pack.
Despite being called a Blood Pack, its packaging actually looked like Hakimi, and it contained soy milk.
"What's this?" Willis took the Blood Pack
and asked in confusion.
"Hachimi Southern and Northern Mung Beans. Your son hasn't fully recovered yet. Have him drink this, and he'll be better in no time."
Lynn explained. He had a resurrection card anyway. He could leave minor injuries untreated and simply die if he suffered a serious one. He had no use for the Blood Pack.
Willis: ???
What on earth was this Hachimi Southern and Northern Mung Beans thing?
Completely ignoring the Todd Family's confusion, Lynn changed out of his Big Bear Outfit and into the red-and-gold Mark III before their bewildered eyes.
Whoosh!!
Flames suddenly blasted out, and the Iron Man Armor rose into the night before speeding off into the distance.
Holding Hachimi Southern and Northern Mung Beans, Jason stared at the dark sky in the distance, his face full of disbelief.
"Dad, I'm not dreaming, am I? Dinosaur War God of the Bat Gang... do we have a gang like that in Gotham?"
Holding the Hachimi Southern and Northern Mung Beans in his hand, Willis struggled to calm down for a long time.
"I thought I was dreaming too."
How could someone like that exist? None of it obeyed science or made any sense.
The Batcave.
Bruce Wayne sat in front of the Batcomputer.
Although he had lost track of that bizarre fellow, at least he had planted all the bugs on him.
He was sure the listening devices would turn up some information about the man.
As his fingers tapped across the keyboard, sounds soon came from the speakers.
"OMG... YES! YES!"
Waves of lewd sounds from men and women poured out, enough to get anyone's blood pumping.
Robin, Dick Grayson, walked in, looking curious.
"Bruce, since when did you start watching Japanese porn?"
Startled, Bruce hurriedly turned toward him, took a deep breath, and began to explain:
"If I told you I was listening in on someone to investigate a case, would you believe me?"
"I believe you." Robin nodded, then suddenly realized something.
"Wait, why does that sound even more perverted?"
Bruce Wayne: "..."
