Tobi returned, bringing some rather bad news.
"Huh? What did you say? They refused to pay the ransom and even attacked you?"
Shinji looked astonished.
Even Kurotsuchi emerged from her lifeless stupor to look incredulous when she heard the news.
Her grandfather, the Kage of an entire village, actually refused to save her?
That was absolutely impossible!
Had these people demanded something outrageously unreasonable?
No one paid attention to her changing expression. Gesticulating wildly and speaking in an exaggerated tone, Tobi began describing all the unfair treatment he had suffered after sneaking into Iwagakure.
Of course, he never breathed a word about what had really happened.
He merely said that they had kept attacking him, leaving him no choice but to fight back.
After finally managing to meet the Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, he had nearly been killed again. Only his silver tongue and the "token" in his hand had barely earned him a chance to talk.
But the conversation had been just as unpleasant.
They had simply demanded that they release the hostage, or they would hunt them to the ends of the earth and never stop until they were dead.
Well, although Ōnoki had never said that, it was more or less what he had meant.
"Of course I was furious when that rotten old geezer said that, so I made a few threats. Then they started ganging up on me again, as though they didn't care whether this woman lived or died. I had no choice but to come slinking back."
The more Tobi spoke, the more aggrieved he became. Finally, he simply squatted in a corner and began sobbing.
Seeing this, Hidan could only think that those bastards were utterly despicable. How dare they bully Tobi!
Everyone knew he was the only one allowed to bully Tobi!
