Add [Provisional Hashira]?
Everyone could still understand the reforms Xia Xi had proposed earlier.
If they were actually implemented, the only obstacle would be how readily the current Corps members and Cultivators accepted them.
But Xia Xi had also said that Swordsman ranks would not be tied to the basic pay system.
The new ranks would serve as labels for the Swordsmen's strength.
The strong would carry out high-level missions.
The weak would be responsible for clearing out the small fry.

"They would be stronger than Kinoe, and their main responsibility would be assisting the Nine Hashira."
"From another perspective, we could also call them [Hashira Candidates]-reserves who could take over as one of the Nine Hashira at any time."

They would be partners for routine missions and supplementary fighting strength in emergencies.
They did not need to be as strong as a Hashira, only strong enough and reliable enough.

The adjutants could lead teams independently to improve efficiency.
Of course, the Corps did not currently have that many formidable Kinoe members.
But they could be trained gradually.
At the very least, promising Kinoe and Kinoto members should not be sent straight into doing a Hashira's work and missions.
Then again.
As the Demon Slayer Corps' most precious top-level fighting force, the frequency and speed at which the Nine Hashira died in battle these days...
Were simply far too high.
