Nezuko clenched her little fists and summoned her courage.
But when the Demon looked over, the courage she had just summoned deflated completely, like a ball that had only just been inflated.
Su Mu smiled at Nezuko, who had her head lowered and looked so easy to bully that he could hardly resist reaching out and poking her little cheek.
It was an absolutely wonderful experience.

Nezuko almost instinctively hugged her arms to her chest, but she did not dare move her face, afraid of angering the Demon and putting her family in danger. She let a Demon poke her cheek with his finger.
In truth, his finger did not press very hard against her cheek, but having someone poke her face, especially a Demon, made her feel as though he would tear her little face apart the next moment and swallow it straight down. Weren't Demons all that terrifying?
At the thought, Nezuko began trembling all over, her eyes welling with tears.
"That-afraid of Demons?"
Su Mu chuckled and withdrew his finger, looking at the little bowl in front of Nezuko. "Eat."
Nezuko's delicate body went almost rigid. She nearly shut her eyes as she waited for the Demon to say something else, but after waiting a while and hearing nothing, she stole another look at him.
The Demon did not seem to be paying her any attention at all. He was putting food into Kanao's bowl, looking very gentle, nothing like the terrifying way a Demon ought to look.
He was completely different from what she had seen that night.
That day, he had felt terrifying to her, but today, he did not seem so-fierce.
Was he really the Demon she had seen that day?
