During his time as a demon, Su Mu had long since grown accustomed to silence. Often, he would sit quietly in one place, gently stroking his Nichirin Blade. If not for taking care of Kanao, he probably would have sat there all day.
For Kie Kamado, however, such prolonged silence was clearly somewhat unbearable, especially with the pressure of facing a demon.
So she cautiously raised her head. The demon seemed unconcerned by her movements, which gave her the courage to shift her ankles, numb from kneeling.
Seeing that the tea beside the demon seemed to have gone cold, she hesitated, then bent slightly, carefully picked up the teapot, and went to fetch some hot tea.
"Thank you."
Su Mu opened his eyes and spoke gently.
Kie Kamado had just been setting down the teapot. Her small hands trembled almost instinctively, and she nearly dropped it on the floor.
Setting the teapot down in a fluster, Kie Kamado cautiously glanced at the demon. His gaze was gentle, not nearly as fierce and menacing as she had imagined.
For some reason, she felt a little relieved.
Actually, thinking about it carefully, aside from the terrifying presence he had shown when he broke into their home that day, the demon had been gentle ever since he arrived today, so gentle that he hardly seemed like a demon.
Besides, even though the demon had shown a terrifying side that day, he had not actually harmed the Kamado Family.
After pouring the demon another cup of tea, Kie Kamado respectfully returned to her original place and knelt, stealing glances at him.
The demon was quietly lifting his cup and drinking his tea in silence.
He did not look as frightening as she had imagined a demon would.
This put Kie Kamado somewhat at ease.
