Over the next three days, Dio stopped giving the three poor Private Soldiers a hard time.
After all, he was not actually there to monitor whether they would attack the prince.
Anyone who had read the manga knew that the Fourth Prince would never make a move against the other princes before the Succession War began.
For those three days, he stayed in the Security Zone practicing [Zetsu] while on duty, then went to the Training Zone to work on his fitness and strength during his time off. His days were full but simple.
He also often chatted with Drobada and the other security personnel, asking about the inside workings of the bodyguard business and the details of this assignment.
After easily beating everyone in an arm-wrestling contest, he quickly fit right in with them.
For some reason, though, he sometimes caught a few of the security personnel sneaking glances at him during shift changes, then pretending they had done nothing.
As for the members of the Royal Guard, they took turns attending to the Twelfth Prince throughout the journey, ignoring everyone else's reactions. He could not glean any information from them at all.
After a three-day journey, the airship finally arrived at Lingong Airport in Yorknew City on the afternoon of August 31, just before dinner.
The airport was brightly lit. Although it had not been emptied as it had been for their departure from Kakin, a separate area had been cleared to keep them away from the other airships.
As the airship touched down smoothly at Lingong Airport, the reception staff the Kakin Empire had stationed in Yorknew City hurried forward to await the Twelfth Prince.
Whoosh-
As the airship's door opened, Drobada and Dio stepped out first, with the others following silently behind them.
The security personnel spread out without being told, while the guards surrounded the Twelfth Prince as she slowly descended from the airship and headed toward the waiting black armored limousine.
The Twelfth Prince remained as serene as ever, saying nothing, like a gentle, dignified royal princess from a picture book.
Standing beside the motorcade, Dio cast an expressionless sidelong glance at Mumuzawa as she approached.
Of everyone present, he was probably the only one who knew she was no serene, dignified princess.
She was merely a pitiful girl who had grown up in a warped environment rife with favoritism, deliberately trying to carry herself with such dignity.
Her mother had probably told her that she had to maintain that bearing at all times if she wanted to become king.
Just like Mumuzawa's fate in the manga-
At her mother's insistence, she had readily given up her own interests, only to be the first one killed.
Even before she was killed, she had still been pitying her mother and younger brother for their fear...
Even her Guardian Spirit Beast had to ask, "Excuse me, do you have a moment?" before it could control someone, and the other person had to explicitly say they did.
Pretty polite, really.
Bang!
A car door slammed shut, and Dio directed the security personnel into the other cars at the rear of the motorcade.
He kept walking forward and got into the front passenger seat of the lead car.
The Fourth Prince's Private Soldiers had arranged a small car of their own and followed behind the motorcade.
The motorcade slowly pulled away, heading toward the hotel they had booked in advance, one that specialized in hosting important guests-the Red Dragon Hotel.
