Joey trained his Nen control while Kite explained aura capacity and recovery, then the group returned to the Organization Base. As they prepared to enter the underground kingdom, Kite discovered a detailed map hidden inside Joey’s bloodstained Map.
Joey, Kite, Gon, and Killua entered the base and encountered Chimera Ants, prompting Gon and Killua to fight while Kite rescued Gon from a surprise attack. After Joey fired into a cave and more ants emerged, Kite assigned each of them a tunnel to clear, leaving Joey bewildered as the others rushed off.
Joey and the others cleared the Chimera Ants from the cave, while Joey discovered that Killer Queen could carry his aura as Ten. As they searched the base for documents, Kite realized the group had been detected, and Joey suspected a dragonfly-like Chimera Ant was tracking them.
Joey joined Gon and Killua as they confronted the Chimera Ants pursuing them through the base, then asked to fight one at close range to train. He faced a fast horse-headed Chimera Ant, but the chapter ended before their first exchange.
Joey, Gon, Killua, and Kite defeated the Chimera Ants in the cave and escaped before the powder magazine could become a danger. On the way out, Kite questioned Joey about details that suggested he knew about Joey’s unusual power and identity, leaving Joey stunned.
Joey concealed parts of his past while answering Kite’s questions about Yoshikage Kira, the strange bug, and the Wallet. Kite returned the Wallet and began explaining his conclusions and the inconsistencies he had noticed.
Kite explained that Ming was a soul-feeding insect from the New Continent Travelogue, and that its death left life-filled Nen on the wallet Joey had absorbed. He also described vows and limitations and revealed that he had tested Joey after suspecting he was no longer Yoshikage Kira.
Joey chose to become Kite’s student in exchange for protection and a chance to build a peaceful life, while Kite prepared to get him out of NGL. When Chimera Ants surrounded them, Kite unleashed his scythe’s sole move, Death Waltz, and cut down the enemies around them.
Kite, Gon, Killua, and Joey encountered a monstrous crocodile Chimera Ant wrapped in a terrifying aura, which had apparently returned despite being killed. Their attacks failed to stop it, and it continued pursuing Joey as Kite searched for a way to strike without hitting him.
Kite fought Neferpitou while Killua and Joey fled with Gon, and Joey severed his own hand to stop damage from spreading through the Skeleton Chariot. After a massive explosion at the base, Killua reached the checkpoint for help while Joey waited nearby, uncertain whether he could recover his hand.
Joey slept while Killua met Netero, Morel, and Knov and told them about the Chimera Ant threat, Kite’s records, and Joey’s identity. The Hunters set off to confront the enemy, leaving Killua and Gon to prove themselves, while Morel promised Joey he would bring Kite back if he was alive.
Joey was rescued from NGL by Andrei and brought to Kite’s companions, where Banana began treating his missing hand. He learned that the hand could not be reattached and listened as Andrei prepared to explain the situation.
After Pokkle leaked Joey’s identity as the Murderer, Andrei helped Joey disguise himself while Killua and Gon prepared to return to NGL and search for Kite. At the train station, they met their contact, Palm Siberia, who invited them to tea to explain the conditions for returning.
Joey, Gon, and Killua met Palm, who explained that she had to defeat Knuckle and Shoot to join their mission. Killua helped Joey test his Nen category, and the chapter ended with Joey preparing to investigate whether his Nen could help restore his severed hand.
Joey discovered that the Wallet’s aura could make a leaf grow roots and considered developing a life-giving Specialization ability like Gold Experience to replace his missing hand. After absorbing the Wallet’s Nen in private, he depleted it, and the Wallet bit his hand with a newly appeared mouth.
Joey discovered that the Wallet converted his aura into life-force-rich Nen and stored it as a supply, though the process left him exhausted. After writing down his findings and falling asleep, he woke to the sounds of Killua, Gon, and a woman he suspected was Biscuit arriving.
Joey met Biscuit and asked to develop his Nen ability, hoping to use his life-force aura to restore his missing hand. Biscuit confirmed his idea could work and agreed to teach him the basics, leaving Joey resolved to continue training.
Joey trained under Biscuit after she agreed to invest in his potential, while Gon and Killua worked to build their Ren stamina. Morel fulfilled his promise and brought Kite back alive, and Kite explained how Joey’s lost hand had powered Chariot’s rampaging explosions.
Kite survived his encounter with Neferpitou, and Joey’s choices had significantly changed the Chimera Ant incident. As Joey advanced his Gold Experience ability and followed Kite’s advice about vows, he finally created a replacement for his severed hand and pressed it to his wrist.
Joey restored his hand and helped Kite replace his missing limbs, then shared his dream of exploring the world and agreed to join Kite's team after the Chimera Ant crisis. As Gon and Killua prepared for their required training, Kite and Biscuit discussed the danger inside NGL and suspected Pokkle had been deliberately set up.
Joey trained the fundamentals of Emission Nen and planned to develop Nen Bullets that could carry Killer Queen’s First Bomb. He also began working toward creating an emitted Nen Beast as a vessel for Gold Experience, while remaining wary of the Wallet’s power.
Joey considered dating Palm, but her attention shifted to Gon, while Joey spent the remaining training days improving his Nen foundations. The chapter ended with Joey, Kite, and Andrei preparing to enter NGL as the contest to seize the tokens neared its conclusion.
Gon and Killua parted from Kite’s group after Gon lost to Knuckle, while Joey joined the Chimera Ant extermination team under a temporary identity. At the nest, the Queen died despite human efforts to save her, and Colt’s grief hinted at memories from his human life.
Colt discovered a surviving infant inside the Queen and promised to protect her, prompting Morel to offer him and the remaining Chimera Ants protection if they swore not to eat humans. The group accepted human arrangements, while Kite, Joey, and Andrei stayed behind to discuss Joey's ability and the chairman's preparations.
Kite’s team left the Chimera Ant nest and learned that Joey’s pursuers were connected to Kakin’s Fourth Prince, Tserriednich, who wanted Joey as a human collectible. Kite assigned Joey a dangerous solo combat exercise against Mafia fighters and Chimera Ants.
