Although Mo Yan and Witchmon had both condensed dark data and touched the Darkness Power,
the dark data Witchmon had condensed was different from Mo Yan's. It was more aggressive and had a greater influence on her personality.
"I should never have sent my research on multiple DigiCores to our teacher, or 'shown off' my DigiCores in front of you."
Mo Yan looked at Witchmon in her red wizard robe, his voice tinged with regret.
He truly hadn't expected his teacher and Witchmon to be so bold as to actually tamper with their own DigiCores.
What Mo Yan failed to realize, however, was that he was every bit as reckless himself.
Or perhaps all wizards had this same insane knack for courting death.
With that, Mo Yan reached out and tapped his Plant Digicore.
"Nature Magic: Balanced Environment!"
Pale green digital waves radiated from the Plant Digicore.
Virtual plants formed from data began taking root and sprouting within Witchmon's Darkness Domain, drawing on the Darkness Power as nourishment to grow.
Green soon claimed a vast swath of space, and countless vivid flowers blossomed in a riot of colors.
"As wizards, we study magic and explore the unknown.
When we come up with a hypothesis, shouldn't we test it through experiments?
Or has the chivalry data affected your thinking?
Made you abandon a wizard's logic?
Left you knowing nothing but brute force?"
At Mo Yan's words, Witchmon couldn't help mocking him.
She had warned Mo Yan long ago not to collect too much chivalry data. It would only interfere with his magical research and turn him into a brute who knew nothing but force.
Mystery and elegance were what a wizard ought to embody.
"I collect chivalry data so I can evolve into a wider range of forms, and to balance out my somewhat excessive rationality."
Pointing at his head, Mo Yan explained why he collected chivalry data.
"Besides, dark data has a far greater influence than you imagine."
Then Mo Yan pointed at the black-robed Witchmon, whose demeanor was growing ever more unrestrained and whose attacks were becoming increasingly frequent and vicious.
"Our teacher asked me to tell you again: only by experiencing darkness and embracing it can you truly understand darkness and light, both their differences and what they have in common."
A wisp of white light appeared at her fingertip. Witchmon looked haughtily at Mo Yan, as though waiting for the embarrassed look on his face when she proved him wrong.
SageMon had once told Witchmon that Mo Yan harbored a certain darkness in his heart, which was why he refused to delve into darkness and experience it.
Only after Mo Yan condensed the Holy Ring of an Angel-type Digimon would he consider touching darkness and condensing a dark Digimon of his own.
Thus, when SageMon foresaw Mo Yan condensing a Holy Ring, arrangements were made.
Originally, however, IceWizardmon was supposed to guide Mo Yan and give him the gift SageMon had prepared.
Instead, Witchmon had appeared here.
It wasn't hard to imagine that IceWizardmon must have encountered something "terrifying."
Of course, Mo Yan knew nothing about any of this.
If Mo Yan found out, Witchmon would undoubtedly be reminded of her past "miserable experiences" all over again.
"Then tell me, what have you learned?"
With a beckoning gesture, Mo Yan summoned the Dark Digicore above his palm, where it spun continuously and released pure Darkness Power.
"Tch. Why don't you experience it yourself? Then you'll know."
The black-clad Witchmon folded her arms across her chest, accentuating her assets, and brushed a finger of her right hand across her bright red lips as she spoke suggestively.
"Thank you, but no."
Closing his hand around his Dark Digicore, Mo Yan rejected the black-clad Witchmon's invitation with great "righteousness."
"Oh, right. These are the initial fragments of mythological data and ancient data our teacher prepared for you."
Witchmon wasn't surprised in the slightest by Mo Yan's response.
As she spoke, Witchmon reached into her dimensional storage space, took out what SageMon had prepared, and handed it to Mo Yan.
This was the data Mo Yan had previously asked SageMon to help him collect.
Only Digimon such as SageMon and Qinglongmon, who had existed since the Digital World's birth, possessed data like this.
Ordinary Digimon could neither possess such data nor gain access to it.
Data like this inherently signified power.
Mo Yan wanted to advance all of his Twelve Digicores to Ultimate, then seek out his own infinite possibilities.
That made mythological data and ancient data essential for Mo Yan.
Given Mo Yan's strength and standing, he had no way to obtain data that inherently held such tremendous power.
So Mo Yan could only ask his teacher, SageMon, for help.
As for why Mo Yan hadn't sought Qinglongmon's help, it was because theirs was a relationship between superior and subordinate.
What employee could ask their boss to collect such data for them and make their boss do all that hard work?
SageMon was different. They were teacher and student.
In the Digital World, the bond between teacher and student was equivalent to the bond between a human father and son.
After all, Digimon were born from data and naturally had neither fathers nor mothers.
Thus, the relationships Digimon formed with one another were generally unbreakable.
Mo Yan had first caught SageMon's attention because of his talent.
Only after spending some time with Mo Yan had SageMon accepted him as a student and devoted every effort to nurturing him.
Likewise, SageMon was also nurturing Mo Yan in pursuit of further evolution.
This was very common in the Digital World.
Many Digimon at the pinnacle of the Digital World had trained students.
For example, Lucemon had trained the Three Great Angels.
Seraphimon was currently teaching Angemon.
Gankoomon was traveling with Huckmon as part of his education.
They were not merely seeking higher evolution, but also testing some of their ideas and nurturing companions who could continue down the same path alongside them.
"What did you do to IceWizardmon?"
After accepting the data, Mo Yan fell silent for a moment, then abruptly questioned Witchmon.
"Huh?!
I... I didn't do anything.
That's right, IceWizardmon asked me to bring these to you."
At Mo Yan's question, Witchmon began explaining in an unusually flustered voice.
"IceWizardmon taught you water and wind magic for a while, after all. How could you do something to him?"
Seeing Witchmon's expression, Mo Yan instantly knew his guess had been right.
IceWizardmon was a renowned water and wind wizard of Witchelny, whose greatest specialty was ice magic.
He was also one of Witchelny's permanent instructors, teaching the many Digimon who came there to study magic.
Witchmon had also attended IceWizardmon's classes and received his instruction.
"Teacher IceWizardmon is fine! I only put him to sleep for a while."
Mo Yan's words struck Witchmon right in the heart, making her hasten to protest.
