The reaction between the Dark Digicore and the Angel Digicore did not surprise Mo Yan.
Or rather, Mo Yan had anticipated it all along.
That was why he had directed his ten remaining DigiCores to orbit the dark Digi-Egg.
After the Angel Digicore left the orbit, the remaining nine DigiCores formed a new cycle, continuing to sustain this digital space.
As light and darkness confronted each other and released their power, the digital space formed by the nine DigiCores swallowed this force in which light and darkness coexisted.
Light and darkness faced off, their two powers clashing.
From the outset, darkness was suppressed by the power of light, leaving it at a disadvantage.
After all, Mo Yan had been accumulating and refining his power of light from the very beginning.
He had even condensed a Holy Ring from the light within the DigiDestined's hearts.
Compared with the power of darkness, whose data had only just been consolidated, the power of light was clearly stronger.
However, for the sake of achieving Holy-Demon Unity in the future, Mo Yan could not allow the power of light to overwhelm darkness, let alone destroy it.
Of course, he could not allow the power of darkness to surpass light either.
An imbalance on either side would skew the nature of his power, creating considerable difficulties for his plan to achieve Holy-Demon Unity.
What Mo Yan needed was to bring the powers of light and darkness into balance.
Ultimately, they would restrain and spur each other on, coexisting and sustaining one another.
So, while light and darkness fought, Mo Yan began adjusting and converting their data, determined to bring them into balance.
Drawing on his research and analysis of light and dark data, and using the data transmitted from the Wizard DigiCore as his source, Mo Yan began adjusting and balancing the powers of light and darkness.
With Mo Yan's help, the power of darkness gradually grew stronger, no longer at a disadvantage in the confrontation.
Even so, his power of darkness still could not contend with his own power of light.
The teachings of the most orthodox angel organization had given Mo Yan's Angel Digicore a power that ordinary Dark Digicores could not match.
Faced with this, Mo Yan had no choice but to unseal the data the Gluttony Demon Lord had given him.
From the very beginning, Mo Yan had never intended to use this data from the Gluttony Demon Lord.
That remained true even after he had used other means to eliminate any contingencies the Gluttony Demon Lord might have left behind.
What Mo Yan feared, however, was the darkness within his own heart.
The "darkness" he had witnessed in modern society in his previous life, and the experience of his "death" in that life.
Those memories still lingered deep within Mo Yan's mind.
That feeling of helplessness, that bitter indignation-Mo Yan still remembered them vividly.
That was why he feared darkness.
Because those were the emotions darkness could stir most easily.
Even after he had become a Digimon, a life-form made of data, those memories had followed him like a shadow, never leaving him.
Now, to balance the powers of light and darkness, Mo Yan had to act.
He had to use data drawn from the deepest darkness, the data most capable of stirring negative emotions.
When this dark data, embodying primordial sin, poured into the Dark Digicore, it was like dry tinder meeting a raging fire.
Dark Angemon's power of darkness rapidly swelled, as though it had suddenly gained powerful support.
The power of darkness, which had previously been able to do little more than keep itself from being purified by light, swiftly rose to stand on equal footing with it.
Light and darkness.
Life and death.
Hope and despair.
Justice and evil.
As light and darkness clashed relentlessly, Mo Yan gained a new understanding of them.
Power generated from data was, in essence, still data.
But just like data, this power still required its structure to be untangled, the relationship between its beginning and end clarified, and a clear central thread established.
Otherwise, power generated from a disordered jumble of data could neither be used effectively nor produce additional power.
That was why differences in data gave Digimon different powers and different allegiances.
Of course, the influence of their data also gave Digimon clearly defined ways of thinking and relatively straightforward personalities.
As a result, kind Digimon would remain kind, while evil Digimon would continue to be evil.
Unless different data was entered into their DigiCores.
If I want to achieve Holy-Demon Unity, light and darkness should be able to transform into each other.
Feeling the powers of light and darkness crushing against each other, Mo Yan instinctively began comparing what he observed with his understanding of them.
Knowledge gained from books was ultimately shallow; true understanding required firsthand practice.
As he identified gaps and filled them in, Mo Yan gradually grasped how to transform light and darkness into each other.
He acted as soon as the idea came to him, using the digital space he had created to begin his first conversion between light and darkness.
Compared with turning the power of darkness into light, making the power of light fall into darkness was undoubtedly easier.
So Mo Yan began by converting the power of light into darkness.
Isolating a segment of light data, he corrupted it with data containing various negative emotions, causing it to fall and become dark data.
Like thick ink dripping into clear water, the light data began to fall as the negative emotional data contaminated it.
Once darkness seeped into light, that light was no longer truly light; it began sliding into the abyss of darkness.
In the end, darkness devoured the light, becoming an even purer darkness.
This darkness was every bit as potent as the dark data the Gluttony Demon Lord had given him.
Turn evil and your strength doubles; turn good and you lose a third?!
Seeing this, Mo Yan could not help muttering inwardly.
Still, this successful conversion gave him further insight into transforming light and darkness.
Next, he had to find a way to turn darkness into light.
Compared with light falling into darkness, elevating darkness into light was undoubtedly difficult.
Fortunately, both light and darkness existed through Mo Yan.
Their shared origin considerably reduced the difficulty of his task.
After carefully examining the information recorded in his dark data, Mo Yan began infusing it with the corresponding light data.
Giving hope to despair.
Giving radiance to darkness.
Giving new life to death.
Through repeated experiments, Mo Yan soon worked out a way for dark data to shed its darkness and ascend into light.
Using this method, he quickly completed the conversion from darkness to light.
With that, Mo Yan had discovered how to transform light and darkness into each other.
Next, he would begin establishing the relationship that allowed this mutual conversion.
Of course, this relationship applied only to Mo Yan's own light and dark forms.
Even so, it could serve as a reference for dealing with beings of either affinity in the future.
Drawing on certain principles of the yin-yang symbol and the ouroboros from his previous life, Mo Yan set the powers of light and darkness chasing and transforming into each other.
Light pursued darkness, purifying the data darkness left behind before devouring it as nourishment to strengthen itself.
Darkness hunted light, contaminating and corrupting the data light left behind until it fell, forming new darkness.
Light and darkness.
Good and evil.
The opening chapter had begun.
The seed would germinate and grow with the passing years.
Ultimately, it would bear the fruit of chaos.
