The eight children followed their strange watch-like devices to a group of Digi-Eggs, which hatched into Digimon that quickly digivolved. Taichi Yagami recognized Koromon, and Genai appeared on Koushiro Izumi’s laptop to explain that they were in the Digital World and had been chosen to save it from darkness.

• The children followed the lights from their watch-like devices to the Digi-Eggs, then each picked up the egg corresponding to their device.
• The Digi-Eggs hatched into In-Training I Digimon and immediately digivolved into In-Training II Digimon.
• Taichi Yagami recognized Koromon, and Koromon greeted him; the other children began cautiously interacting with their Digimon.
• Genai appeared on Koushiro Izumi’s laptop and told the children they were in the Digital World, which darkness was consuming, and that they had been chosen to save it.
• Genai’s transmission began to break up, but he warned the children that the forces of darkness were on their way and urged them to stay safe.

The Chosen Children and their partner Digimon encountered Devimon, who attacked them as they fled from Soundbirdmon. The Holy Digimon shielded and concealed the group, leaving the children unconscious and urging them to strengthen their bonds with their partners.

• Soundbirdmon spotted the children and herded them toward danger, while Devimon learned they were there.
• Devimon emerged from black mist, mocked the Chosen Children, and unleashed Purgatory Storm.
• The partner Digimon protected the children, whose emotions powered their evolution into Agumon, Gabumon, Patamon, Palmon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Gomamon, and Wormmon.
• The eight newly evolved Digimon attacked Devimon, but their strikes had no effect and he retaliated with his storm.
• A Holy Digimon protected and concealed the children and their partners, told them to grow stronger through their bonds, and then the group lost consciousness.

After waking on File Island, Taichi Yagami and Sora Takenouchi met Candlemon, who asked them to help defeat Devimon and save the island. Candlemon explained that their Digivices could help their partner Digimon evolve, leaving Taichi and Sora convinced they might be able to fight back.

• Sora woke beside Taichi and learned that the children had been scattered when Devimon attacked; she and Taichi recalled hearing a voice before they lost consciousness.
• Taichi and Sora wondered how to find the others, then Candlemon emerged from nearby bushes and introduced himself.
• Taichi’s Digivice displayed Candlemon’s information, and Sora asked why Candlemon had approached them.
• Candlemon explained that Devimon had seized control of File Island and that its remaining Digimon had waited for the DigiDestined to appear.
• Taichi doubted that they could defeat Devimon, but Candlemon said the Digivices could channel their hearts’ power to help their partner Digimon evolve.
• Taichi and Sora recalled their partners’ changes during the encounter with Devimon and accepted Candlemon’s explanation.

Taichi and Sora learned that Candlemon believed their Digivices could help them defeat Devimon and save File Island. When Flame Kuwagamon attacked, Taichi stopped running and called on his Digivice to answer him.

• Candlemon told Taichi and Sora that Devimon feared the Digivices and urged them to master their bond with their partner Digimon to save File Island.
• Flame Kuwagamon flew toward the group, and Candlemon explained how Devimon's arrival had changed File Island and corrupted Digimon around Mount Infernus.
• Sora's Digivice identified Flame Kuwagamon as a Champion-level Virus Digimon with the special move Demon Flame Scissor Kill.
• Taichi questioned why they had been chosen if they kept fleeing, then stopped and asked Agumon whether he was afraid.
• Agumon said he feared nothing while beside Taichi, and Taichi raised his Digivice and called for it to answer him as it began to shine.

Taichi Yagami’s Courage awakened while Devimon prepared for his arrival, and Genai questioned Sassumusmon and BloomLordmon about their plans and altered states. Elsewhere, Omnimon X revived Dorumon and returned to the Royal Knights, where Mo Yan and the others were refining their use of DigiSoul.

• Devimon sensed Taichi Yagami’s Courage awaken, laughed, and sent Soundbirdmon across File Island.
• Genai questioned Sassumusmon about using Desire to draw out Taichi Yagami’s Courage and challenged him and BloomLordmon about their mental states and deliberate imperfections.
• BloomLordmon said that imperfection and incompleteness could offer infinite possibilities, and the Digital Space fell silent.
• Omnimon X asked the Yggdrasill Host to revive Dorumon, and the request was approved.
• Omnimon X sent the reborn Dorumon back to his companions, watched him play with them, and then returned to Mo Yan and the Royal Knights.
• Mo Yan and the Royal Knights continued practicing with DigiSoul, and Omnimon X pointed at his best buddy, Gallantmon X.

Mo Yan arranged for the Iron Empire to finish assembling Darkdramon and chose new paths for the Knightmon Legendary Mode and Void DestructionDramon DigiCores. He then joined the others watching Gallantmon X and Omegamon X fight.

• Gallantmon X and Omegamon X clashed, and the Royal Knights and Mo Yan watched their battle.
• Mo Yan asked Datamon to install Darkdramon's core device and DigiCore and complete its final adjustments.
• Mo Yan sent the Knightmon Legendary Mode DigiCore to Cerberumon while he considered its future evolution.
• Mo Yan sent Void DestructionDramon to seek Qinglongmon and apply to continue the Four Great Dragons Trial.
• Mo Yan joined the spectators as Gallantmon X and Omegamon X continued fighting.

Taichi Yagami’s Agumon evolved into Greymon, who fought Flame Kuwagamon while Taichi’s Digivice empowered him. Sora Takenouchi’s Biyomon then evolved into Birdramon, who joined Greymon in attacking Flame Kuwagamon.

• Sacred light and data from Taichi Yagami’s Digivice caused Agumon to evolve into Greymon.
• Flame Kuwagamon charged Greymon, and the two fought at close quarters, with Flame Kuwagamon gaining the advantage.
• Taichi Yagami’s Digivice converted his Spiritual Power into strength for Greymon, letting Greymon keep counterattacking.
• Sora Takenouchi’s Digivice responded to her feelings, and Biyomon evolved into Birdramon.
• Birdramon seized Flame Kuwagamon with her talons and dragged him skyward while Greymon held on to him.

Taichi Yagami, Sora Takenouchi, Greymon, and Birdramon defeated Flame Kuwagamon, but a black flame absorbed the fallen Digimon and their attacks before flying toward Mount Infernus. Candlemon explained that Mount Infernus absorbed corrupted Digimon to grow stronger and eventually create a powerful fire-controlling Demon-type Digimon for Devimon.

• Greymon startled Flame Kuwagamon with Super Flame, letting Birdramon carry him upward while Greymon landed safely.
• Birdramon threw Flame Kuwagamon toward the ground, and Greymon and Birdramon struck him with Super Flame and Meteor Wing.
• Flame Kuwagamon exploded in a burst of fire, and Greymon and Birdramon reverted to Agumon and Biyomon.
• A black flame absorbed the explosion's fire, Flame Kuwagamon, and the Digimon's attacks, then flew toward Mount Infernus.
• Candlemon explained that Mount Infernus absorbed corrupted Digimon after their deaths and would use their power to create a powerful fire-controlling Demon-type Digimon who obeyed Devimon.

Baalmon secretly revealed himself as Candlemon and confronted a Meramon who accused him of protecting the Chosen Children. The chapter explained how Baalmon joined Sassumusmon’s plan to guide the children and organize resistance against Devimon, then left Baalmon threatening the Meramon.

• Taichi Yagami and the others rested in a cave after Candlemon told them about Devimon’s rule and the resistance network.
• A black flame confronted Candlemon outside the cave, demanding to know why he had stopped the Chosen Children from being eliminated.
• Candlemon digivolved into Wizardmon and then Baalmon, while the black flame transformed into Meramon.
• The chapter recounted how Baalmon’s rampaging Demon Lord Power was subdued in Witchelny, after which SageMon sent him to Mount Infinity and he discovered Devimon was one of Mo Yan’s avatars.
• Baalmon contacted Sassumusmon, reverted to Candlemon, and helped unite resistance Digimon, establish shelters and a messaging system, and guide the Chosen Children.
• Meramon claimed he was eliminating a threat to Devimon, but Baalmon dismissed his justification and threatened to kill him.

After Devimon scattered the group, Yamato Ishida, Takeru Takaishi, and Ken Ichijouji woke up together and met Floramon. Floramon explained that Digimon were life-forms formed from data, leaving Yamato questioning what he had learned about the world.

• Yamato Ishida woke Takeru Takaishi and Ken Ichijouji, and both said they were unharmed.
• Yamato Ishida realized they had been separated from Taichi and the others, while Gabumon warned the group that something was approaching.
• Floramon appeared, and the Digivices identified Floramon as a Rookie Plant Digimon with the special move Allergy Shower.
• Takeru Takaishi asked why Floramon looked like a flower and how a flower could walk, and Floramon explained that they were a Plant Digimon.
• Ken Ichijouji asked what Digimon were, and Floramon explained that they were life-forms created from accumulated data and incredible powers.

Floramon led Yamato Ishida, Ken Ichijouji, and Takeru Takaishi through the Digital World and explained what he chose to reveal. Snimon ambushed them, and after seeing his friends injured, Yamato resolved to fight alongside Gabumon and took out his Digivice.

• Floramon gave Yamato, Ken, and Takeru a selective explanation of the Digital World, while Wormmon assured them that Floramon could be trusted.
• Snimon attacked the children with Cross Scissor, but their Digimon pulled them out of its path and counterattacked without harming him.
• Snimon unleashed Scythe Dance, leaving the children and their Digimon injured as Floramon secretly helped them evade the worst of the attack.
• Yamato heard Takeru, Ken, and the Digimon answer him and resolved to fight so his friends would not have to face danger alone.
• Yamato asked Gabumon to fight alongside him, and Gabumon agreed; Yamato then took out his Digivice.
