DATS headquarters was decorated entirely in white, giving it a distinctly futuristic feel.

It looked like the sort of base that often appeared in science fiction.

Tonight, the command room at headquarters was unusually lively.

Besides the regular team members, there were Mo Si, Etemon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, Kunemon, and other Digimon, as well as Saint, the Digimon Hunter who was still unconscious.

Even Director Hashiba, who rarely visited the rank and file, had come in person!

Director Hashiba looked Mo Si over, rubbing his hands together with a humble air as he asked, all smiles, "Are you the diplomat from the Digital World?"

"What do you think?"

Mo Si answered casually as she pulled over a swivel chair, sat down, and crossed her right leg over her left.

Her expression and movements were relaxed, as though she were treating the DATS command room as her own home.

Etemon and Goblimon stood to her left, while Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, and Kunemon stood to her right, looking like a group of bodyguards.

"..." Marcus Damon, Thomas H. Norstein, Yoshino Fujieda, and the others exchanged glances.

Kudamon, who had reverted to Rookie level and was curled around Captain Satsuma's shoulders, said, "There's no such thing as a diplomat in the Digital World."

Mo Si showed no embarrassment at being exposed. She merely smiled faintly and said, "Despite its advanced technology and immense power, the Digital World's social structure is still tribal. It's true that there's no such thing as a diplomat."

Kudamon frowned. Was that supposed to be a jab?

Even if it was true...

Director Hashiba had already been somewhat suspicious. Now that he heard the Digital World had no diplomats, his last flicker of hope finally died.

If Mo Si really had been a diplomat from the Digital World, he wouldn't have had to take the blame for this.

But since she wasn't, the responsibility would fall on him.

Director Hashiba immediately straightened his back. The more he thought about it, the angrier he grew. "Do you have any idea how much trouble your reckless behavior has caused me?!"

The existence of Digimon had been a secret. If only one or two people found out, they could simply have their memories erased. DATS had devices for that.

But tonight, Mo Si's chase with BioThunderbirdmon had covered too much ground and drawn too many witnesses. Even with memory-erasing devices, they could no longer conceal the existence of Digimon.

This would seriously damage his career prospects!

Mo Si chuckled. "If it's too much trouble, you can resign. There are plenty of people willing to take your place."

"You!" Director Hashiba choked on his words, his bluster vanishing at once.

I just wanted to vent a little. Did you have to take it that far?

Director Hashiba composed himself and pretended nothing had happened. He said to Captain Satsuma, "I still have to deal with the aftermath. I'll leave these Digimon in your hands, Captain Satsuma."

Captain Satsuma nodded.

Director Hashiba gave a quiet huff, clasped his hands behind his back, and turned to leave the DATS command room.

Once the command room door closed, a few clear laughs rang out from the crowd.

Everyone looked toward the laughter. It had come from DATS operators Miki Kurosaki and Megumi Shirakawa-one a woman with long purple hair, the other a woman with short blond hair.

The two had been with DATS longer than Marcus Damon, Thomas H. Norstein, and Yoshino Fujieda, so they knew Director Hashiba fairly well and were often given a hard time by him.

Seeing their boss put in his place naturally delighted them.

Captain Satsuma gave a light cough, quieting the room.

Then he looked at Mo Si and said, "Angewomon, you're a very unusual Digimon."

"There's no need to repeat something so obvious," Mo Si said with a faint smile.

Captain Satsuma fell silent for a moment, then said, "You called yourself a diplomat because you wanted to draw DATS out, didn't you?"

Mo Si looked around. "I'm not familiar with this world. Finding this place would have taken quite a bit of effort."

Not familiar?

Captain Satsuma didn't believe that, but he didn't dwell on it. Instead, he continued, "Why were you looking for us?"

Mo Si said, "It's simple. We want to return to the Digital World."

At those words, Etemon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, Kunemon, and the other Digimon all looked at Captain Satsuma expectantly.

The human world was too terrifying. They wanted to go back to the Digital World!

Captain Satsuma didn't answer. Instead, Kudamon spoke from his shoulders. "Any Digimon that causes chaos in the human world must be converted into a Digi-Egg before returning to the Digital World."

Mo Si asked, "Why?"

Kudamon said, "Those who do wrong must be punished."

Mo Si smiled. "You have a point. But what if we were abducted?"

"Abducted?"

Kudamon froze at her words.

Marcus Damon, Thomas H. Norstein, Yoshino Fujieda, Captain Satsuma, Miki Kurosaki, Megumi Shirakawa, and the others all looked shocked.

Until now, every Digimon DATS had encountered had accidentally fallen into the human world. This was the first time they had heard of Digimon being abducted.

But who had the ability to go to the Digital World and capture Digimon?

Mo Si pointed at the unconscious Saint. "They're the ones who captured us in the Digital World and brought us here."

"They?"

"They're Digimon Hunters."

Mo Si rose, walked over to Saint, and nudged his stomach with her foot. "You're already awake, aren't you? If you keep pretending to sleep, I'll put you to sleep forever."

Saint slowly opened his eyes and glared hatefully at Mo Si. He snorted. "Bitch! Stay away from me!"

Mo Si smiled slightly, lifted her left leg, and planted her foot on Saint's abdomen.

She rotated her heel counterclockwise, aiming the roughly one-centimeter-wide heel of her shoe at a spot below Saint's lower abdomen.

Mo Si smiled. "What do you think will happen if I press down just a little?"

Saint's face instantly went pale with terror, cold sweat pouring from his forehead. "Y-you... you..."

Marcus Damon and Thomas H. Norstein stared, dumbfounded. Even Captain Satsuma's eyes widened.

Agumon, Gaomon, and the other Digimon merely looked bewildered.

Yoshino Fujieda, Miki Kurosaki, Megumi Shirakawa, and the others gave knowing looks.

"I'll count to three. Three..." Mo Si said with a bright smile.

"Don't!" Saint cried, all his earlier defiance gone.

Mo Si continued, "Two."

Saint hastily apologized. "I'm sorry! I spoke a little too loudly just now. Ask me anything you want to know. I'll tell you everything I know."

Mo Si chuckled a few times and withdrew her left leg.

At that, Saint let out a long breath, as though he had narrowly escaped death.

"Are you really an angel?" Kudamon stared at Angewomon, at a loss for words.

Mo Si smiled warmly. "Of course. I'm a genuine Cyber Angel."

As she spoke, she stretched her wings.

Angewomon's wings were far more flexible than those of other angels. Spread out, they formed eight gleaming wings; hanging down, they resembled a cloak.

Mo Si held her hands over her conscience and said, "No angel is kinder than me."

"..." Kudamon was even more speechless.

You must have misunderstood what kindness means.

The saying that appearance reflected the heart applied even more to Digimon than to humans.

Different behavioral habits changed the facial muscles. For example, in people who smiled often, the muscles responsible for smiling would grow stronger, gradually giving their faces a cheerful, sunny look.

For humans, that was about as far as the heart could affect their appearance.

For Digimon, however, it could directly trigger evolution, changing their appearance from the inside out.

That was why, to Kudamon, it was simply unbelievable that Mo Si could behave the way she did and still remain an Angewomon!

By all rights, she should have fallen and become a dark Digimon long ago.

Something like LadyDevimon.
