LadyDevimon was Angewomon's opposite. That much was certain.

That slapping scene had left quite an impression.

But why would her own fallen evolution turn her into ZombieSatanmon or Myotismon? If anything, those two should have been MagnaAngemon's fallen evolutions, shouldn't they?

Unlike Pokémon, Digimon evolution formed an interconnected web.

Digimon could change according to their moods, experiences, surroundings, and all sorts of other factors. A dragon might evolve into an angel, and an angel might turn into a dragon.

It was remarkably free!

But even if evolution was free, it couldn't veer this far off course for no reason.

There had to be an explanation.

Mo Si thought, ...Could it be because I have a male mindset?

That was the only thing she had that an ordinary Angewomon didn't.

If that was the case, it would explain why her fallen evolutions leaned toward the masculine forms of ZombieSatanmon and Myotismon.

After glancing over those two forms, Mo Si thought, I'm not evolving.

The chance of evolution failing was as high as eighty percent. If she failed, she would turn into something like Sukamon or Scumon. Returning to her previous world in that state would mean certain death.

Even if she evolved successfully, she would become ZombieSatanmon or Myotismon.

She wanted neither of them.

If they were Ultimate-level, she might have considered it.

Unfortunately, those two were only Ultimate-stage Digimon at the same level as her. Even a successful evolution wouldn't necessarily make her stronger than she already was, and it would hinder her activities in this Fairy Tail world.

So, between failed evolution and successful evolution, she chose not to evolve.

Splash~

She stepped out of the bathtub, droplets tracing trails down her skin.

Mo Si took a towel and dried herself off. When she set it down, white energy rose around her, burning like flames.

A closer look revealed countless "0" and "1" symbols within that energy.

This was digisoul!

In the fifth Digimon series, digisoul was energy humans released that could make Digimon evolve.

In a sense, Mo Si was both human and Digimon, and she could actually release digisoul too.

The warm power given off by her digisoul evaporated the moisture she hadn't managed to wipe away.

Once she felt clean and dry, she withdrew her digisoul and put her Angewomon outfit back on.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Mo Si gathered a ball of digisoul in her palm and thought, If I learn to use digisoul skillfully, I can strengthen myself even without evolving to the Ultimate level...

The boost wasn't very large, though, only about thirty percent.

Even the Ultimate-level Gryphonmon hadn't been able to withstand the laser fired by Kurata's Gizumon. She was merely a background Angewomon, so a little extra strength wouldn't do much good.

"I really do need to learn magic."

Mo Si leaned back onto the bed and soon drifted off to sleep.

The next day, after washing up, Mo Si met up with Mira, Lisanna, Elfman, and the others, then went to the Fairy Tail Guild for breakfast.

Afterward, Mo Si, Mira, Lisanna, Elfman, and the others approached Makarov, who was sitting on the counter drinking. "Master, please teach us magic."

"Come with me."

Makarov put down his glass and hopped off the counter.

He led Mo Si and the others to the guild library and said, "You haven't had any experience with magic before, so you'll need to start with the basics."

Those basics involved sensing and mastering the flow of magic power.

"Magic isn't the power of miracles. It takes tangible form when the flow of 'energy' within us matches the wavelength of the 'energy' fluctuating in nature."

"Magic is the result of combining spiritual strength and concentration-no, of pouring your entire soul into it!"

Makarov picked up a book on the fundamentals of magic and explained its foundations, which were also its key.

Magic built upon that foundation, whether elemental magic, soul magic, or space-time magic, consisted of techniques for applying magic power. That foundation was the basic principle behind all magic.

"Study this book first. If there's anything you don't understand, you can come ask me anytime."

Makarov handed the book to Mo Si.

Mo Si opened it, took a look, and said, "Master, I have a question."

Makarov asked in surprise, "Already?"

She had found a problem with a single glance. What astonishing intelligence!

Just what he would expect from an angel!

Mo Si said, "I can't read the writing in this book."

"..." The corner of Makarov's eye twitched.

He had given the book to Mo Si because she looked like a dependable adult. He had never imagined that she couldn't even read.

An angel, yet illiterate.

"Let me."

Mira volunteered, took the book from Mo Si, and began reading aloud. "Chapter one, section one. Mastering your own magic power requires meditation. Through meditation, concentrate your mind..."

Following the method in the book, Mo Si, Mira, Lisanna, Elfman, and the others found a clean spot in the library, sat cross-legged, closed their eyes, and concentrated on sensing the flow of "energy" within their bodies.

That energy was magic power.

About ten minutes later, Mira opened her eyes in delight. "I felt it!"

Hearing their sister's voice, Lisanna and Elfman opened their eyes too and regretfully admitted that neither of them had sensed any magic power within their bodies.

"Do we just have no talent?"

Lisanna and Elfman couldn't help doubting themselves.

Makarov said, "Don't worry. Mira has already awakened her Take Over Magic. Sensing magic power is as easy as drinking water for her. She's not a typical example."

Hearing that, Lisanna and Elfman regained their spirits and entered a meditative state again.

Their ability to enter meditation so quickly showed that they already possessed considerable talent.

Time flew by, and three days passed.

This was also Mo Si's fourth day since crossing over to this world. Twenty-six days remained until she returned.

That day, Lisanna and Elfman sensed their own magic power, one after the other.

Mo Si also sensed the flow of "energy" within her body. There wasn't just one flow, but two!

But she was certain neither was magic power. She could clearly feel that one was Angewomon's holy power, while the other was digisoul.

There was simply no magic power.

In Earth-land, where Fairy Tail was located, even the air was filled with magic power. Everyone born in this world had magic power within them; it was only a matter of how much.

Some people were born with immense magic power, so much that their bodies couldn't bear it and became weak.

Others were born lacking magic power, with so little that even as adults, they couldn't become mages.

Mo Si had crossed over from another world. She wasn't a native life-form of this world and had not a trace of magic power within her.

Logically, meditation was a waste of time for someone without magic power.

Yet she persisted in meditating.

Because...

[Name: Mo Si] [Race: Digimon · Ultimate · Free Type · Angel Type · Angewomon] [Skills: Holy Arrow, Heavenly Purple Light, Healing Light, digisoul, magic power] [Evolution path: Fallen evolution] [Time until return: 26 days]

Starting that morning, magic power had begun forming within Mo Si's body. She suspected that over the past few days, she had obtained some through eating and breathing.

There wasn't much, but as long as she mastered it, she would have her ticket to gaining the power of magic.
