"What's wrong with killing Digimon that are vicious by nature?"
Kurata was unbothered. He placed no value whatsoever on Digimon lives.
Never mind Digimon-he barely cared about any human life other than his own.
In his eyes, Suguru Daimon was an utter fool for getting angry over that.
"Kurata, you don't understand Digimon at all..." Suguru Daimon clenched his fists.
What had happened ten years ago had largely been an accident. There was no point bringing it up.
But five years ago, if not for Kurata, the Digital World and the Human World could have achieved peaceful coexistence.
He could have retired with his work done and returned to his family.
Instead, Kurata had begun slaughtering Digimon five years ago, forcing him to stake his own life to buy humanity time. As a result, Yggdrasil had kept him under house arrest for five years.
It was all Kurata's fault!
Suguru Daimon gritted his teeth. "I'm taking you before Yggdrasil to stand trial!"
"What's this Yggdrasil thing?" Kurata asked dismissively.
He didn't know what Yggdrasil was, didn't want to know, and considered it beneath him to find out.
It was probably a place name.
"No one can judge me! Saint, take them all out."
As soon as Kurata spoke, BioDarkdramon launched a ruthless attack.
A metal lance was equipped on BioDarkdramon's right hand.
"Giga Assassination Lance!"
Golden arcs of electricity flickered constantly along the lance.
This lance could rival Gallantmon's Holy Spear Gram. Its power was beyond question.
"Hmph..." BanchoLeomon's eyes blazed. Despite BioDarkdramon's ferocious charge, he neither dodged nor retreated, drawing the short blade he carried.
"Lion Raging King Slash!"
The short blade was named Man's Soul. It was too broad and thick for a human, and hardly short, either, but for someone of BanchoLeomon's build, it truly amounted to no more than a short blade.
Scratches covered its surface, proof of countless battles.
Clang!
Blade and lance collided!
The clash of metal rang across the sky.
BioDarkdramon was more than ten times larger. BanchoLeomon looked like a doll he could hold in one hand, and the difference between the short blade and the Giga Assassination Lance was like that between a fruit knife and a blade built to cleave warships.
The two seemed worlds apart from the outset. From his size to his weapon, BanchoLeomon appeared to have no chance of winning.
Yet the result defied all expectations.
BanchoLeomon remained rooted to the spot, while BioDarkdramon, more than ten times his size, was driven back over ten meters by the impact.
"What?!"
Watching this, Kurata was as stunned as if he had seen an ant drive back an elephant.
That defied science!
"Damn it!" Unlike Kurata, who was merely watching, BioDarkdramon had taken the blow himself and was even angrier.
He'd actually been driven back by this little runt?
How humiliating!
Seething with rage, BioDarkdramon opened his fang-filled maw. A pitch-black substance poured from his mouth-"dark energy"-and gathered into an energy sphere as it flowed out.
"Dark The Roar!"
BioDarkdramon could spit dark energy in the form of an energy blast. This was a forbidden move of unparalleled power. No one in the world could survive taking such an attack.
"Die!"
The pitch-black dark energy sphere shot out.
BanchoLeomon's gaze sharpened. He sheathed his short blade and met it with a punch.
"Shining Bancho Fist!"
Blinding light wrapped around BanchoLeomon's right fist. His massive fist blasted forward like a cannon shot.
It struck the underside of the dark energy sphere with precision, deftly redirecting it into the sky.
Boom!
A deafening blast shook the heavens. The dark energy exploded in midair into a huge, scorching firework, and the shock wave slammed into the ground, sending sand, stones, and dust flying.
With his back to the explosion's light and rushing air, BanchoLeomon stood with his clothes snapping in the wind and his beastly eyes shining.
A true powerhouse!
"How is that possible?!" BioDarkdramon could hardly believe it.
His forbidden ultimate attack had been countered just like that?
"Kid, you've still got a long way to go!"
Fighting wasn't as simple as unleashing an ultimate attack!
Taking advantage of his opponent's momentary daze, BanchoLeomon lunged forward as swiftly as the wind and drove another Shining Bancho Fist straight into BioDarkdramon's chest.
With a thunderous boom, BioDarkdramon was sent flying more than a hundred meters away.
Meanwhile, Suguru Daimon walked toward Kurata, one step at a time. "Kurata, surrender!"
Seeing his ace fighter, BioDarkdramon, beaten by BanchoLeomon, then watching Suguru Daimon approach menacingly, Kurata recoiled half a step in fright.
Cold sweat broke out on his forehead as he cried in panic, "Y-you-stay away!"
Suguru Daimon remained unmoved and continued closing the distance between them.
Kurata's heart sank.
Yet that very feeling calmed him down. A thought suddenly struck him, and he began to smile.
"What are you smiling about?" Suguru Daimon asked coldly.
With a faint smirk, Kurata asked, "Do you remember the Space-Time Shock Bomb?"
"..." Suguru Daimon stopped in his tracks.
Of course he remembered it. Ten years ago, the expedition team had escaped the Digital World through a passage opened by a Space-Time Shock Bomb.
However, the Space-Time Shock Bomb caused far too much damage to the space-time barrier between the two worlds. It was outdated technology with severe side effects, long since phased out and replaced by DATS's new Transport Device.
Kurata regained his composure-an infuriating composure.
He smiled faintly. "You should know how destructive the Space-Time Shock Bomb is to the space-time barrier. And I've been using it around Tokyo all these years. The space-time barrier in the Tokyo area is already riddled with holes."
In truth, he hadn't originally known any of this-or rather, hadn't cared.
But after Saint had been controlled and then freed from that control, he had told Kurata about his experiences at DATS.
That was how Kurata had learned about the effects of his years of using Space-Time Shock Bombs.
He knew that further intensive use of Space-Time Shock Bombs would shatter the space-time barrier and cause the Digital World and the Human World to collide.
For humans and Digimon alike, it would be utter catastrophe!
But to Kurata, it was a wonderful thing!
Especially right now-it gave him an enormous advantage!
"What do you think would happen if I set off Space-Time Shock Bombs on a massive scale again?"
Kurata's lips curled upward. "You should understand. The space-time barrier would be completely destroyed, and then the two worlds would collide. All eight billion humans, and every Digimon here, would perish!"
Suguru Daimon's pupils constricted.
BanchoLeomon's brow furrowed deeply.
"Kurata, have you gone mad?!" Suguru Daimon cried out.
"Hahaha!" Kurata burst out laughing. The more anxious Suguru Daimon became, the happier he was.
Then he continued, "Of course I don't want the world destroyed. I'm no world-ending demon king. But... Suguru Daimon, you're the one who pushed me this far!"
"What?" Suguru Daimon was stunned.
Kurata snorted and continued, "If the space-time barrier shatters and the two worlds collide, it'll all be your fault! Suguru Daimon, you'll become the greatest sinner in the history of both worlds!"
"..." It was twisted nonsense, yet Suguru Daimon found himself unable to respond.
Kurata sneered. "Suguru Daimon, you wouldn't want the world destroyed, would you?"
"..." Suguru Daimon didn't answer.
Of course he didn't want the world destroyed. But at this moment, what could he possibly say?
Slap!
Kurata backhanded Suguru Daimon across the face, knocking him back several steps.
"Suguru!"
BanchoLeomon roared in fury.
"Where do you think you're looking?!"
Just then, BioDarkdramon attacked, swinging the Giga Assassination Lance.
Seeing Suguru Daimon humiliated had distracted BanchoLeomon with rage. He could only hastily block with his short blade, but without time to put his strength behind it, he was blasted away by the terrifying force of the Giga Assassination Lance.
