Chapter 39: Begin Your Performance

The three men, the ones on the left and right, seemed like subordinates, while the man in the middle was burly with a prominent scar on his face.

A heavy killing aura emanated from him, suggesting he was someone who had lived a life of bloodshed.

Just as Xu Zimo and his companions were eating, the scarred man walked directly to Xu Zimo's table, grabbed a chicken leg from his bowl, and started eating without a word.

"Who are you? Can't you see these are our dishes?" Xiao Guizi stood up and said sternly.

The scarred man glanced sideways at Xiao Guizi, his right hand surged with spiritual energy, and he slammed a palm onto the dining table in front of him.

The table instantly shattered into pieces, and all the food was spilled onto the ground.

"Who is this guy? So arrogant?" a diner asked in confusion.

"He's the leader of the White Crane Mercenary Group, Xiao Baihe. He's a ruthless one, don't make a sound," someone nearby advised.

"Who sent you here?" Xu Zimo asked, not angry, a smile playing on his lips.

Xiao Baihe froze, his expression shifting slightly, but he still said boldly, "Who sent me? I just don't like the look of you."

Xu Zimo smiled, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and then everyone saw a flash of blade light. Xiao Baihe's legs were directly severed from the knee down.

Xiao Baihe hadn't even reacted yet. Because it was too fast, he didn't feel any pain.

When his legs fell to the side and Xiao Baihe, with no support, collapsed onto the ground.

Only then did the piercing pain shoot into his nerves. He looked at his legs and screamed in agony, his face pale, large beads of sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Who sent you here?" Xu Zimo still asked with a smile.

"I don't know," Xiao Baihe retorted defiantly.

A sharp blade grazed his neck, and blood spurted out a meter. Xiao Baihe's eyes were still filled with disbelief as he died.

Beside him, his two subordinates who had come with him seemed to be scared stiff, frozen in place.

When Xu Zimo's gaze swept over them, they both trembled and snapped back to reality.

They immediately knelt and begged for mercy.

"Who sent you?" Xu Zimo asked again.

"It was the Situ Family. Their inner courtyard's head steward found our leader," one of them quickly replied.

"Then are you willing to go to the Situ Family with me to testify?" Xu Zimo asked.

"I..." The man hesitated.

A flash of blade light, and a head that died with its eyes wide open fell to the ground.

"Are you willing to go with me to testify?" Xu Zimo asked the last of the three.

The man's face contorted in struggle, and then he frantically kowtowed to Xu Zimo on the ground, his forehead already bleeding profusely. "Sir, please spare me. If I go to testify, my whole family won't survive."

"I gave you a chance, but you're useless," Xu Zimo shook his head and swung his blade again.

The head rolled on the ground like a ball. He yawned, shook his head helplessly, and muttered to himself, "Boring."

"This brother is too impulsive," a young man in white, holding a folding fan, walked out and looked at Xu Zimo, sighing.

"What do you mean?" Xu Zimo asked, looking at him in confusion.

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Zheng Kai," the young man said, opening his folding fan. "I can see you're no ordinary person. If you had kept these three men, even just one, you could have sought justice from the Situ Family. But now that you've killed all three, with no witnesses or evidence, isn't that a pity?"

"What's it to you?" Xu Zimo retorted.

"Uh..." The young man was taken aback. Realizing he had overstepped, he stood aside without speaking.

Xu Zimo glanced at Xiao Guizi beside him and said, "Xiao Guizi, begin your performance."

Xiao Guizi nodded, then picked up the iron rod from his back and swung it directly at Xu Zimo.

Xu Zimo kicked him to the ground and asked sternly, "Tell me, who instigated you?"

"It was the Situ Family's inner courtyard head steward. I am willing to testify," Xiao Guizi quickly replied.

"Let's go, then we'll go to the Situ Family to settle this," Xu Zimo said, pulling Xiao Guizi along. Lin Ruhu followed behind them, and the group swaggered towards the Situ Family.

The young man named Zheng Kai on the side was dumbfounded. Watching the departing group, his eyes widened, "Holy crap, there's a move like that?"

As they walked through the bustling streets, Lin Ruhu asked curiously, "Brother Zimo, why would the Situ Family cause trouble for us?"

"Because we saved Situ Yunqing and disrupted someone's plan," Xu Zimo said with a smile.

Lin Ruhu nodded as if he understood but not quite, "Then will the Situ Family believe us if we have Xiao Guizi impersonate someone from the White Crane Mercenary Group like this?"

"Don't you understand yet? It doesn't matter if Xiao Guizi is from the White Crane Mercenary Group or not, and it doesn't matter if they believe us or not," Xu Zimo said. "What matters is that we have the strength."

Lin Ruhu was stunned. "Strength? I think I kind of get it now. Because we have strength, we can make black appear white, and white appear black."

The Situ Family, with Situ Yunqing's return, was in a state of impending storm.

Inside the Situ Family's council hall, the atmosphere was heavy.

The First Elder looked at the family head, Situ Yuntian, seated at the head of the table, and said, "Family Head, we are all happy that niece Yunqing has returned, but is it appropriate for her to formally rejoin the family and be recorded in the genealogy immediately upon her return? She hasn't grown up in the Situ Family since childhood, so perhaps we should delay this matter?"

"I agree with the First Elder," the Second and Third Elders, as if in agreement, nodded simultaneously.

"What, do you have objections to my decision?" Situ Yuntian asked, frowning.

"We are merely thinking of the Situ Family's future," the First Elder said in a deep voice. "Moreover, it's not just us who oppose this; rumors are spreading throughout the entire family. I believe the Family Head must consider the bigger picture."

As they were speaking, a servant rushed in frantically. "Family Head, esteemed Elders, three people have arrived outside demanding justice from our Situ Family. They've injured several members of the patrol team, and Instructor Lou went to stop them but was killed by one of them with a single sword strike."

Situ Yuntian frowned slightly. Instructor Lou was in charge of the family's security patrols and was the strongest person in the entire Situ Family besides himself and a few elders.

"The person said he is a disciple of the True Martial Sacred Sect and claimed someone from our Situ Family instigated an assassination attempt on them," the servant continued.

"The True Martial Sacred Sect?" Situ Yuntian also immediately felt the situation was troublesome. This behemoth was like a mountain, towering over the entire Far West Land. "We don't seem to have provoked any disciples of the True Martial Sacred Sect, have we!"
