History

Far West leadership and conflicts

Xu Qingshan was first identified as the sect's Vice Sect Master and its most powerful figure; his son Xu Zimo was consequently regarded as the sect's “Crown Prince” 1. Xu Qingshan later served as Sect Master, hosted the Six Sects Grand Competition, and led the sect's campaign against the Yin Yang Sect 135 147.

The sect destroyed the Yin Yang Sect after deciding that leaving it intact would create future threats. Its force included more than one hundred Divine Meridian experts, more than a dozen Saint Meridian experts, and the aid of Ice Cold Sword Saint Mei Ao Han 147 148.

When the Divine Sun, Blood Nether, Purgatory, and Dan Family forces descended upon the sect over Xu Zimo, Sect Master Xiao confronted them. The sect activated its protective formation during the ensuing conflict, while its elders retaliated by destroying enemy Imperial Foundations 522 526 527.

Heaven Tier restoration

The rebuilt Heaven Tier sect initially lacked knowledge of much of its own past: even disciples such as Xiao An'an had never heard the names of the Three Blades Great Emperor, Empress Hongtian, or Divine Movement Great Emperor 1623.

Xu Zimo identified himself as an ancestor of the sect, completed Xiao An'an's True Martial Sword Body with the True Martial Token, and used her as a key defender during the attacks surrounding the sect 1623 1630. After uncovering the Gongshu Family's involvement in the assault on the sect, he left to destroy the Ancient Dragon Upper Kingdom and confront the Ten Great Clans 1632.

The sect's resurgence culminated in the return of the True Martial Progenitor and other surviving high-level figures. The Progenitor restored the war-ravaged land, rivers, plants, and wildlife around the sect through the power of his Great Way 1688 1689.

Recruitment and trials

The sect's early admissions process assessed aptitude and Dao heart. Aptitude was divided into nine grades, with Grade One highest and Grade Four or above generally acceptable 31. Dao heart testing used an illusionary realm; candidates received full marks either by retaining clarity throughout or by breaking free from temptation at the final moment 32.

After the Heaven Tier revival, recruitment emphasized character and loyalty even more than talent. Candidates were tested for aptitude and courage through a Dao Stone and an illusionary realm designed to determine whether they would flee in a crisis 1770.

Competitions

The sect hosted recurring outer, inner, and core disciple competitions. Its grand competition included combat, alchemy, formations, and other professions, with combat as the principal event 316 517.

It also hosted the Six Sects Grand Competition in the Heavenly Domain, receiving the Divine Sun, Immortal Spirit, Purgatory, Sacred Spring, and Yin Yang Sects, alongside over one hundred second-rate sects watching the event 134 135.

Territories and Facilities

• Heavenly Domain — A self-contained competition space established during Empress Hongtian's era. It covered tens of thousands of square miles and contained nearly one hundred Black Tortoise True Iron arenas capable of withstanding several Imperial Meridian attacks 135.
• Imperial Sky Pavilion — Held the sect's Sacred Ships and Flying Shuttles. Divine Movement Great Emperor developed their flying formations and later integrated Spirit Gathering formations, allowing Sacred Ships to replenish energy during travel 85.
• Scripture Repository — Its third floor contained confidential intelligence, while the fourth held the inheritances of four Great Emperors at the time Xu Zimo visited. The sect's intelligence network extended across all five continents 788.
• True Martial Trial Tower — A Dao heart aptitude tower whose results ranged from red to black, with black highest. It was later revealed that Heaven Annihilation had been disguised as this tower 1625 1685.
• True Martial Monument — A monument preserving sect history and the resting place of the True Martial Sword 1633.
• Buzhou Peak — A peak reportedly severed by the True Martial Progenitor. The Sword Intent and Laws remaining there endured through the ages, making it a cultivation ground for later generations 1624.
• Sect-protecting formation — Originally established during the True Martial Great Emperor's era and enhanced by successive Great Emperors. It later weakened as its Dao patterns faded, but remained the central defense of True Martial Mountain 107 2168.

Legacy and Ancestral Assets

• True Martial Token — Left by the True Martial Great Emperor; intended to guide later successors toward traces of the sect and its founder in Beyond the Heavens. Xu Zimo used it to complete Xiao An'an's True Martial Sword Body 1060 1623.
• True Martial Sword — The True Martial Progenitor's companion sword, recovered from the True Martial Monument by Xiao An'an 1633.
• True Martial Sword Body — A battle physique left by the founder that is especially suited to sword cultivators 831.
• Martial God Sword — One of the Great Emperor treasures deployed in the sect's defense against Li Changsheng 2176 2177.
• Undying Blade — A Great Emperor treasure wielded alongside the Martial God Sword by Sect Master Chu Yishan 2176 2177.
• Tongtian Jianmu seed — One of the sect's Great Emperor treasures 2176.
• Divine Movement Great Emperor's dragon talisman — A Great Emperor treasure retained by the sect 2176.
• Heaven Swallowing Demonic Pot — An ancient demonic item refined and left in the sect by Xu Zimo; it was deployed as the fifth Great Emperor treasure during Li Changsheng's attack 2176.

Defenders and Allies

• True Martial Great Emperor / True Martial Progenitor — Founder of the sect and its central historical figure. He rebuilt its Heaven Tier territory after the return of the surviving ancestors and later personally established its Core World territory 2 1689 1782.
• Xu Zimo — Holy Son of the Far West sect and later recognized as an ancestor of the Heaven Tier sect. He defended its reputation, directed its revival, and intervened personally when Li Changsheng attempted to annihilate it 325 1634 2180.
• Sky Curtain War God — Former war general of the True Martial Great Emperor; remained behind to defend the sect for millions of years and later provided Xu Zimo with the True Martial Token 525 785 1060.
• Heavenly Blade War General — One of the three war generals who protected the sect. He destroyed hostile sects' Imperial Foundations during the four-sect assault 527 785.
• Walker — A young war general of the sect who fought Purgatory Sacred Sect General Sword Devourer during the same conflict 527 785.
• Nangguo Family and Zhao Family — Former members of the Ten Great Clans who allied with the sect during its war against the other clans 1670 1672.
• Blade and Sword Siblings — Great Emperor-level rogue cultivators who offered support after the establishment of the True Martial Upper Kingdom 1652.

Major Conflicts

• Yin Yang Sect annihilation — Xu Qingshan mobilized the sect to eliminate the Yin Yang Sect and prevent future retaliation 147 148.
• Four-sect assault — The Divine Sun, Blood Nether, Purgatory, and Dan Family forces pressured the sect over Xu Zimo; the conflict ended with retaliatory strikes against their Imperial Foundations 522 526 527.
• Ancient Dragon Upper Kingdom campaign — Xu Zimo led the revived Heaven Tier sect against the kingdom after discovering its connection to the Gongshu Family's plot 1632 1644.
• War against the Ten Great Clans — The sect confronted the clans with the support of the Nangguo and Zhao Families. Its surviving ancestors and Dao Fruit Experts openly joined the battle 1671 1672.
• Eight Kings siege — The Eight Kings surrounded True Martial Mountain to erase the sect's name. The aging sect-protecting formation was eventually broken, forcing the defenders to unleash their ancestral treasures 2167 2168 2175 2176.
• Li Changsheng's invasion — Li Changsheng broke the protective formation and threatened annihilation. Xu Zimo ultimately revealed himself, killed the Seven Emperors, and declared that he would protect the sect because of its sentimental value to him 2175 2180.
