Gen Chisei did not know how to respond and scratched his head awkwardly.
"This is what I came to Japan for. First, let's suppress our rebellious branch." Angers looked at Lu Mingfei. "You still haven't caught Tachibana Masamune? Knowing your style, the entire Japanese Branch should already be kneeling here, begging my forgiveness, Mingfei."
"That certainly wasn't my plan." Lu Mingfei shrugged, then clapped his hands.
A wooden door creaked open in the shadows, and a figure in a wide-sleeved kimono slowly emerged.
Gen Chisei rose, staring fixedly at the newcomer, his pupils trembling.
"Long time no see, brother." Kazama Ruri smiled faintly. His makeup was very light, using only the slightest touches of color, thin strokes of vermilion and mineral blue between his brows and at the corners of his eyes. Yet his beauty was breathtaking, an uncanny loveliness poised between male and female.
Gen Chisei simply stared at him in silence.
Over the years, he had suffered the same nightmare again and again: at the bottom of a deep, dark well, a pair of lifeless eyes gazed up at the sky. He leaned over the edge to look at the corpse, and it slowly reached out to drag him into the well. Gen Chisei could not resist. The corpse was Minamoto Chisei, whom Gen Chisei had sealed in that well with his own hands. All his life, Gen Chisei had remained trapped in that nightmarish moment. He had killed his own younger brother and buried him with his own hands.
His feelings were complicated. He scarcely knew how to face his brother, nor could he be certain whether the person before him was Minamoto Chisei returned from the dead or an evil spirit that had crawled out of that well.
"You must be the renowned Hilbert von Ange."
