|---|---|---|
| First Great Rune — before his return | 84 | Defeats Godrick the Grafted, obtains his first Great Rune at the Divine Tower of Limgrave, and receives an audience with the Two Fingers. |
| Elden Lord / Golden Order — before his return | 1 14 | Repairs the Elden Ring after confronting Radagon and the Elden Beast. Commands the Golden Order and spends a hundred years upon the throne during the Age of Fracture. |
| Returned body; restricted supernatural power | 1 3 | Returns to his eighteen-year-old body. His power initially strengthens his physique, but he cannot channel it into sorceries or incantations. |
| S-Rank recognition | 2 | Demonstrates his Golden Eyes to Ye Sheng and Jude Jiqu. Cassell formally registers him as an S-Rank student; this is a classification rather than a newly acquired power. |
| Blood Rage | 10 | Masters the mental technique that increases his bloodline’s purity and accelerates his metabolism. His attempt to release a violent “Dragon Raja” personality produces no such personality. |
| Second-Stage Blood Rage | 15 | Awakens while fighting Constantine. Develops scales and a mental domain that perceives attacks without relying on sight or hearing. |
| Third-Stage Blood Rage | 15 | After losing an arm and shoulder, rejects Lu Mingze’s temptation and transforms further. Grows wings and bone spurs, regenerates his arm, and overwhelms Constantine in close combat. |
| Constantine’s incomplete Great Rune | 16 | Takes authority over fire and metal, allowing him to cool the bronze hall, manipulate its structure, and seize a Dragon Servant’s flames. |
| Rune-based Blood Rage enhancement | 29 | Recreates Flame, Grant Me Strength! as a specialized Blood Rage technique, combining Third-Stage strength with stronger spiritual, fire, and metal control. |
| Combined Bronze and Fire authority | 32 | Takes Norton’s Great Rune and fuses it with Constantine’s. Gains deeper fire control and further understanding of other elements and Word Spirits. |
| Destined King / Conceptual Armaments | 70 | Recovers after Jormungandr destroys his heart. Manifests Warrior’s Armor and his twin blades; Jormungandr’s view of his health bar identifies him as the “Destined King.” |
| Direct elemental manipulation | 86 | After the otherworldly presence withdraws, sustains flight by moving wind through will alone, without alchemical formulas or Dragon Script. |
| Mastery of three great elements | 110 | Extracts elements from Herzog’s storm and remakes them into an ice sword. Golden power outside the Five Great Elements also begins emerging from him. |
| Order of Night assistance | 111 | Accepts Ranni’s help. Her Order shields him from Herzog’s clappers, transforms the Nibelungen, and allows him to forge the Dark Moon Greatsword. |
| Godhood recognized | 127 | The Greater Will reveals that he is already a god beyond Order and fate, and identifies Frenzied Flame as his inner shadow. |
| Lord of Frenzied Flame | 127 | Receives memories of another timeline at the exit of the illusion. Frenzied Flame consumes the illusion and threatens Melina and the world. |
| Frenzied Flame reclaimed | 129 | Draws the flame from the Lord of Frenzied Flame’s shell into himself. His formed human body breaks apart during the process and subsequently reforms. |
| Spiritual power with “infinity” | 133 | Can unleash Word Spirits, sorceries, and incantations without limit, provided he does not consume the world itself. |
| Fate-powered ascension | 146 | Receives the power of fate from the Greater Will. Endures its backlash as his divinity separates from his human self, refusing to let divinity replace his identity. |
Background / History
Journey through the Lands Between
Lu Mingfei’s early life as a Tarnished was marked by fear rather than heroism. He survived in ruins, terrified of pain and death, until encountering a soulless, undying wanderer made him recognize a fate worse than dying. Repeated deaths gradually stripped away his fear of battle 12 13.
He initially exploited resurrection at Golden Grace to learn enemy weaknesses. Against heavily armored foes such as the Dragonclad Tree Sentinels, he prepared poison rather than insisting on direct combat. His repeated battles against the Mimic Tear later forced him beyond these methods: an opponent possessing his own equipment and techniques could only be overcome through a transformation in his fighting spirit 14 31 32.
Melina accompanied him toward the Erdtree, but her sacrifice in the Fire Giant’s forge became his deepest regret. After her death, he traveled in heavy armor, refused to rely on resurrection, and fought onward through Crumbling Farum Azula and burning Leyndell. His eventual victory left him with a throne but without the person to whom he had wanted to prove himself 3 14.
Reign and return
After repairing the Elden Ring, Lu Mingfei ruled through a hundred years of the Age of Fracture. He repeatedly questioned his decisions: whether he should have embraced Ranni’s stars, repaired the Order more completely, or accepted Frenzied Flame to save Melina. Although he commanded the Golden Order, it had also permeated his body and bound him to the Greater Will 1.
His return to Earth restored his eighteen-year-old body without erasing that experience. Determined not to become a divine puppet again, he treated the new life as an opportunity to prevent the sacrifices he had once accepted 1 14.
Appearance
- Hair: Short and black 1.
- Eyes: Can activate molten Golden Eyes associated with his dragon bloodline 2 6.
- Bearing: Holds his head high and back straight, with a composed gaze and relaxed posture; a hotel attendant mistakes him for a wealthy young man 2.
- Blood Rage transformation: Develops blue-black scales, bone spurs, reversed knees, and wings at higher stages 15.
- Warrior’s Armor: Ornate metal armor engraved with fiery feather patterns, a half-plate and chain-mail helmet, and silver-white wolf fur behind the helmet 70.
Personality
Lu Mingfei’s confidence is the result of prolonged hardship, not an overnight change caused by admission to Cassell. His former classmates notice that he has become gentle, polite, and self-possessed, while Nono perceives an immense will unlike the hatred-driven resolve of familiar dragon slayers 3 4 15.
In combat, he is calm, practical, and willing to fight unfairly. He studies weaknesses, assesses his injuries without panic, and abandons ineffective methods quickly. He is equally capable of using poison, concentrated sword strikes, firearms, or direct physical violence when the situation demands it 14 16 47.
His central conviction is that power must not erase the person wielding it. He rejects bargains that threaten his autonomy and refuses to become an abstract divine identity, even when offered godhood. His stated ideal is a world that also embraces the weak and abandoned 5 15 29 126.
His independence does not prevent cooperation. He values Cassell’s intelligence, technology, and worldwide reach, and delegates organizational work to Su Enxi rather than pretending to understand it better than she does. However, he has little interest in student factionalism or the prestige of hybrid families 16 19 37 42.
Abilities & Skills
Weapon Mastery and Flow State
- Experienced with swords, sabers, axes, hammers, spears, and unusual weapons forged from supernatural creatures 2.
- Uses precise footwork and repeated strikes against a single point to break defenses that resist individual blows 14.
- Skilled in dual wielding, fighting Jormungandr with Murasame and Dictator at close range 70.
- Learned flow state through defeating the Mimic Tear: total immersion in combat that greatly sharpens his perception. Uses it during the time fracture in his battle with Norton 31 32.
Blood Rage and Regeneration
- Increases bloodline purity through mental control, enhancing strength, metabolism, and recovery 10 14.
- Second Stage creates scales and expands perception into a mental domain; maintaining this state against Constantine consumes life force and overdraws mental strength 15.
- Third Stage grants extensive draconic transformation and regeneration sufficient to replace a severed arm 15.
- His Rune-based Flame, Grant Me Strength! reinforces both his body and elemental authority 29.
Elemental Authority and Word Spirit Imitation
- Manipulates fire and metal through the authority taken from Constantine and Norton, including stealing hostile flames and refining molten metal 16 17 32.
- Bloodflame Slash: Recreates the fire-based effect of Morgott’s Cursed Sword as explosive arcs of sword light 29.
- Oerh Sword Dance: Sends flame-wreathed weapons spinning toward an enemy under remote control 47.
- Fortissax’s Lightning Spear: Forms red lightning into tangible spears held in his hands 69.
- Alternates frost, fire, neurotoxin, and lightning on his blades; can also seal elemental storms inside projectile weapons 69 70.
- Eventually creates fire directly inside enemies lacking a King’s Domain, requiring only his will rather than a Word Spirit 99.
Golden Order and Order of Night
- Uses Golden Order power to counter Odin’s lightning, wield a golden hammer, and pin him beneath a barrage of holy spears 85.
- Receives protection from Ranni’s Order of Night against Herzog’s clappers and forges the Dark Moon Greatsword under its influence 111.
- Ranni’s intervention uses the Order of Night directly rather than passing through his soul as a medium 111.
Healing and Mental Power
- Minor Erdtree: Creates a small golden tree with restorative power; later halts Uesugi Erii’s dragon transformation 71 100.
- Uses King’s Attendant to calm Su Xiaoqiang after a Deadpool attack 79.
- Communicates thoughts directly into other people’s minds and awakens allies from illusions 91 98.
- Creates a Dragon King-level avatar whose pressure and mental suggestion drive Haven’s inhabitants away during the Secret Party’s takeover 131.
Alchemy and Forging
- Refines metal, senses its condition, and restores damaged weapons. Red Skies’ surviving spirit limits how freely he can reshape it 17.
- Forges Bloodhound’s Fang from Norton’s unfinished blade using metal refined through Fell God Flame 32.
- Seals King’s Flame inside a knife made from silverware and traps Jormungandr’s spirit within an Alchemical Matrix vessel 74.
- Uses an Alchemical Matrix for travel and a laboratory Storm Pool to disintegrate a Deadpool sample while investigating possible soul vessels 79.
Time, Space, and Fate
- Freezes time before destroying Odin’s replica 140.
- Uses a spatial passage to enter Cassell College’s Central Control Room 137.
- Severs the fate of the Holy Palace Medical Association 131.
- Gives Melina laws with which to fight Nidhogg while preparing to confront fate himself 140.
- During ascension, commands divine power without accepting the replacement of his human identity by divinity 146.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Baseball bat and violin case — Brings the concealed bat to his Cassell interview for self-defense 2.

- Bloodhound’s Fang — Forges it after defeating Norton. Later shatters it during the battle against Jormungandr and unleashes Rykard’s Rancor 32 70.
- Warrior’s Armor — Conceptual Armament inherited from Blaidd, the White Wolf Warrior; manifests when he rises as the Destined King 70.
- Lu Mingfei’s Twin Blades — Shape-changing Conceptual Armament created by Lu Mingze using fire authority and Melina’s spirit-body power. Initially appears as paired curved swords burning with golden and red flames 70 110.

He tells her she is the only person he can fully trust with his next plans 14 75 129 138.

- Caesar — Initially an opponent on Free Day, later a close operational ally. Lu Mingfei provides evidence of Gattuso abuses and supports his effort to confront the responsible faction 22 74 113.
- Constantine — Defeated Dragon King whom he keeps alive after extracting an incomplete Great Rune. Becomes a companion, lives in his dormitory, and learns StarCraft from him 16 17 23 25.
- Old Tang / Norton — Online gaming friend and Bronze and Fire King. Lu Mingfei defeats Norton and takes his Rune, but preserves Old Tang, who later lives among his allies 23 32 73.

- Nono — Cassell senior who warns him about threats to his identity. Later becomes an opponent during Free Day 5 22.
- Chen Wenwen — Former school crush. He protects her in the subway Nibelungen; within the closed timeline illusion, they become a couple 5 61 120.
- Uesugi Erii — Healer’s patient and ally who tells Fūma Kotarō to trust him after he halts her dragon transformation 100.
- Lu Lincheng and Jovini — His parents, described by Angers as S-Ranks. Inconsistencies in Cassell’s records lead Lu Mingfei to demand the truth about them 6 49.
- Greater Will — Source of the Order he once administered and the architect of an experiment involving his experiences. Urges him toward godhood and ultimately releases the power of fate into him 1 117 127 146.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Cassell Admission and Free Day
Lu Mingfei joins Cassell to investigate Earth’s supernatural powers rather than out of admiration for its prestige. His Golden Eyes confirm his S-Rank status, but the fact that Cassell assigned that rank before his apparent awakening makes him suspicious of how closely his earlier life was monitored 2 6.
During Free Day, he eliminates Nono and most of the remaining participants, then turns his fights against Caesar and Chu Zihang into practical combat tests. His victory places him at the top of Cassell’s rankings, and Caesar vacates his former headquarters for him 22 23.
Dragon Kings and the Board of Trustees
The discovery of a Great Rune inside Constantine alerts Lu Mingfei that a power connected to the Lands Between has entered Earth. Taking Norton’s Rune confirms that the connection extends beyond a single Dragon King, while his alliance with Lu Mingze deepens through access to his memories 16 32.
His growing influence provokes efforts to place him under investigation. At the trustees’ meeting, he explains that Dragon Kings hide among humans and struggle to devour one another before confronting Nidhogg. Frost responds by exposing Cassell’s records of his life, prompting Lu Mingfei to demand answers about his parents 41 49.
Beijing and the Destined King
Lu Mingfei coordinates the investigation of seismic anomalies and the awakening Supreme Fenrisulfr in Beijing. The search draws him into a subway Nibelungen and eventually into battle against Jormungandr and Fenrir 53 61 70.
After surviving the destruction of his heart, he rises in Warrior’s Armor as the Destined King and reunites with Melina. He later removes Jormungandr from Chu Zihang’s body and questions her about the Black Sovereign’s influence over fate 70 71 74.
Japan and Herzog
In Japan, Lu Mingfei keeps Kazama Ruri alive to draw out Herzog and Kingpin, then coordinates Cassell’s counterattack against the Sheqi Eight Clans. He heals Erii and helps arrange peace talks while investigating the hidden force behind Tachibana Masamune 91 98 100.
Herzog’s Samsara World separates his mind, but the resulting encounter with Ranni brings assistance from the Order of Night. Lu Mingfei returns to the confrontation with protection against the clappers and a newly forged Dark Moon Greatsword 111.
Closed Timeline and Frenzied Flame
Lu Mingfei enters an apparently ordinary world without dragons or hybrids. The Greater Will offers a choice involving a closed timeline, while an ordinary version of him settles into a happy life with Chen Wenwen. That happiness is undermined by the fear that accepting comfort means abandoning people who still need him 117 120.
The armored knight fighting toward him reveals an identical face and insists that identity cannot be reduced to other people’s expectations. At the exit, memories of a timeline in which Melina was saved unleash the Lord of Frenzied Flame. Lu Mingfei subsequently approaches its shell and draws the flame back into himself 122 127 129.
Haven and the War of Fate
After freeing Lu Mingze, Lu Mingfei severs the Holy Palace Medical Association’s fate and helps the Secret Party seize Haven. He then supports an international response to Nidhogg, advising preparations for catastrophic Word Spirits rather than a nuclear strike 131 140.
Nidhogg’s activation of dragon-blooded humans disrupts the War of Fate. With assistance from a conscripted human civilization, Lu Mingfei brings about the dragon’s defeat. The Greater Will then releases fate’s power into him, but he persists through ascension without accepting the loss of his humanity 146.
