"Whoa, that big guy's back! What do we do now?"
Watching the berserk Doomsday Beast attack again, March 7th went a little pale and instinctively backed away a few steps.
Now she finally understood: even with everyone here, she wasn't necessarily safe.
"What else? Keep chipping away at him!"
Picking up the baseball bat beside him and brushing the cosmic dust off his clothes, Lin Feng spoke with a serious expression.
"At this point, we can only take things one step at a time."
"Whatever the case, the Doomsday Beast's outer armor has been destroyed, exposing its flesh. We should be able to inflict meaningful damage."
Welt Yang tightened his grip on his cane, his expression grim.
After a brief hesitation, the four advanced instead of retreating, charging toward the berserk Doomsday Beast.
The next moment, the frenzied, twisted Doomsday Beast lashed out with its massive claws, sending all four figures flying backward...
Despite deploying their own defenses, they couldn't get close in the face of the Doomsday Beast's terrifying strength.
"A... miscalculation..."
Climbing off the floor, Welt Yang looked slightly embarrassed.
"Now we're really done for. We can't beat him at all..."
March 7th complained nervously as she watched the Doomsday Beast approach.
Does... does this mean this Path Simulation ends here?
I've already reached an A rating, but that's nowhere near enough...
At that thought, Lin Feng felt disheartened.
The Paths available in each Path Simulation were randomly selected.
The Path of Elation was indeed the best choice for earning points right now, but it might not be an option in the next simulation.
Besides, two more failures and he would have to say goodbye to this world.
Thinking of all the beautiful girls in Honkai: Star Rail, Lin Feng was filled with regret.
Just then, amid howling winds, a dazzling cyan light flashed in the vast sea of stars overhead.
A colossal warship clad in thick silver-gray armor abruptly appeared, blotting out the sky with a bulk far greater than the Doomsday Beast's.
The cyan exhaust streaming from its four staggered, diamond-shaped thrusters alone stretched over a kilometer.
On the enormous starship's flank, the boldly sweeping character for "Peak" stood out clearly.
"Is... is that really a Star Destroyer?"
Staring at the colossal warship stretched across the sea of stars, Lin Feng froze in place.
The instant he saw the character for "Peak," he understood which little sweetheart was responsible.
It seemed the storyline had already diverged. Although the Doomsday Beast had become stronger, Asta had actually managed to buy a Star Destroyer.
"Wow... what an awesome starship!"
Looking up at the stars, March 7th's lovely eyes filled with astonishment and delight.
"Gorgon-class Strategic Star Destroyer, Giant Peak: spatial jump complete. Arrived at designated coordinates!"
"High-level threat detected. Storm Griffin Fighter Squadron, deploy for patrol!"
The booming electronic voice rang throughout the space surrounding Herta Space Station, carrying a distinct air of authority.
The next moment, six hangars opened along the massive starship's underside, and dozens of cyan-painted space fighters swiftly emerged.
"Rat-tat-tat!"
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Circling near Herta Space Station in orderly formations, the Storm Griffin Fighters concentrated their fire, pouring a torrential barrage of energy beams and armor-piercing missiles into the Doomsday Beast's enormous body.
Under the relentless bombardment, countless blackened wounds appeared across the Doomsday Beast's body, which had already lost its outer armor.
"Roar!" Enraged, the Doomsday Beast bellowed, spread its enormous wings, and left the Starrail Platform.
Being bullied by that human wielding the Stellaron's power was bad enough. Now even these scrap machines were making trouble. How could it maintain its dignity as the Antimatter Legion's vanguard?
Ignoring the Griffin fighters' furious barrage, the Doomsday Beast soared upward, charging straight into the Starry Sky.
Firing as they retreated, the Storm Griffin Fighters soon lured the Doomsday Beast thousands of kilometers away from Herta Space Station.
Then the space fighters, arranged in two wing formations, abruptly accelerated and vanished off to either side of the starfield.
"High-threat target entering effective range..."
"Spear of Tirmis, Antimatter Pulse Main Cannon: charging complete. Output at 47%."
"Triple target lock confirmed. Fire main cannon!"
As the electronic voice delivered its rapid, chant-like announcements, crimson energy blazed like stellar fire within the enormous turret atop the Star Destroyer, bathing the entire starfield around Herta Space Station in the colors of dusk.
The next moment, a crimson beam over a hundred meters wide shot forth with terrifying power and momentum.
"Boom!" A fireball over a hundred kilometers in diameter erupted against the distant stars. When its dazzling light faded, the Doomsday Beast was nowhere to be seen. It had been vaporized, without even a scrap remaining.
"High-threat target eliminated. Strategic Star Destroyer Giant Peak commencing patrol according to preset protocols."
"Protection target: Herta Space Station. Patrol radius: 1.5 million kilometers."
With their combat objective complete, the blue-painted Storm Griffin Fighters returned, gathering around their mothership.
The Giant Peak's aft thrusters ignited with cyan exhaust, and it soon disappeared beyond the edge of their vision.
"The Doomsday Beast... just died like that? Wasn't that a little abrupt?"
March 7th looked away from where the starship had vanished, bewilderment lingering on her pretty face.
Everything had happened so quickly that the Doomsday Beast had already met its end before she could even react.
"That was a Gorgon-class strategic cruiser. Even within the Interastral Peace Corporation, it would be classified as a first-class combat mothership."
"Even if the Doomsday Beast is an anti-planetary weapon, against weaponry of that caliber, it was nothing more than a lamb to the slaughter."
Welt Yang adjusted his glasses, his expression composed.
A gentleman had to remain elegant at all times. Of course, his earlier face-first tumble didn't count. That had been purely accidental.
"Giant Peak... why does that Star Destroyer's name sound a little strange?"
"Lin Feng, don't tell me you're the young master of some massive interstellar conglomerate, and that starship was only here to protect you?"
"Hehe... confess! No lying!"
As though something had occurred to her, March 7th looked Lin Feng up and down, a hint of anticipation in her lovely eyes.
"Heh... if I really were some conglomerate's young master, why would I come somewhere this dangerous? Wouldn't lounging around at home be better?"
March 7th's words left Lin Feng momentarily stunned. He couldn't quite follow the beautiful girl's train of thought.
"Not necessarily! Say a handsome, aloof young master met an ordinary, kindhearted, adorable girl on some remote planet..."
"Then he fell in love with her at first sight... and in the end..."
March 7th grew increasingly animated as she spoke, leaving Lin Feng struggling not to laugh.
