"Fragmentum? What's that?"
Hearing Arlan's description, Lin Feng frowned.
In the previous Path Simulation, Herta Space Station had become completely safe once the Antimatter Legion invasion was resolved.
But judging by Arlan's tense expression, this Fragmentum he mentioned seemed to be no simple matter.
"The Fragmentum is a form of spatial corrosion. The Genius Society believes it's connected to stellarons. Once it appears, it transforms the objects and space it touches into special Fragmentum creations."
"The Fragmentum also records the aether information of anything it touches and combines it with its own stored data to produce grafted Fragmentum creations."
"In short, countless relics, Fragmentum monsters, and isolated alternate spaces fill every corner of the Fragmentum..."
Arlan explained solemnly.
"All right, all right... I get the gist. A spatial rift crawling with monsters, right?"
Lin Feng frowned, though his expression remained composed.
"That's not exactly wrong. In any case, the Fragmentum is very dangerous."
"We're still investigating exactly why the Fragmentum appeared aboard Herta Space Station."
"Members of the Security Department secured the scene immediately. We're working on a rescue plan..."
As he spoke of the Fragmentum, Arlan's expression grew even graver.
It seemed that, aside from the rumors about Asta, the Fragmentum crisis before them was another serious problem.
"Forget it... I'll go take a look. It's just beating up some little monsters, right? That's my specialty..."
"Your injuries haven't healed yet, so rest up for now. Wait for my good news!"
Lin Feng reached out and patted Arlan's shoulder, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Then... thank you, Brother Lin Feng. No... thank you, Master Lin Feng!"
Arlan clasped his hands and bowed respectfully, offering Lin Feng a disciple's salute that left him somewhat surprised.
Thinking it over, he had indeed offered Arlan some offhand pointers on his way to Asta's bedroom yesterday.
So Arlan's new form of address did make some sense.
"No need to be so polite. It's hardly worth mentioning..."
"Protecting the peace and tranquility of Herta Space Station is the lifelong wish of warriors like us!"
With the Metal Baseball Bat resting on his shoulder, Lin Feng spoke with such stirring conviction that Arlan was left utterly spellbound.
"As expected of my master... such towering heroic spirit!"
Watching Lin Feng walk away, Arlan felt that his master was truly a great man.
No wonder Lady Asta admired Master Lin Feng. A great hero like him naturally commanded everyone's admiration.
If he were a cute girl, he would definitely cling to Master Lin Feng too.
At that thought, Arlan shook his head awkwardly and banished those strange ideas.
After bidding Arlan farewell, Lin Feng hurried along and soon reached Herta Space Station's Storage Zone by teleporting through a Realm Anchor.
Quite a few Security Department soldiers in Power Armor were already standing guard near the Central Elevator tower.
When they saw Lin Feng, delighted expressions appeared on their faces.
After all, Lin Feng was now Herta Space Station's great hero. He had single-handedly held off hundreds of Antimatter Legion soldiers and escaped unscathed, then severely injured the terrifyingly powerful Doomsday Beast with a single swing. He was practically a god of war.
"Is the Special Analysis Room in this direction?"
With the Metal Baseball Bat on his shoulder, Lin Feng asked calmly.
"Yes... Senior Lin Feng, it's right over there!"
"Those damned monsters destroyed the Central Elevator's power supply. With our strength, we can only hold the elevator entrance and keep the monsters born from the Fragmentum from attacking up here."
"If we can get into the elevator control room and activate the backup power, the Security Department can head down to rescue people!"
The reddish-brown-haired Security Department soldier straightened his back as he reported.
"Understood. Leave this to me!"
Having grasped the situation, Lin Feng resolutely crossed the barricade, looking every bit the lone hero.
Whenever he encountered a monster along the way, Lin Feng smashed the Voidranger to pieces with a few swings.
Although the stellaron power triggered by the Doomsday Beast's strongest attack had already faded, Lin Feng's abilities had still improved.
His strength, speed, physique, and even reflexes had all grown considerably sharper.
Against mere Voidranger-level monsters, fighting was as easy as slicing vegetables. It barely took any effort.
He eliminated monsters, activated the Central Elevator's backup power, and rescued stranded researchers in one smooth sweep.
In just about fifteen minutes, Lin Feng arrived in the Special Analysis Room and met Pamela, the Melon Farmer Arlan had mentioned.
She was a slender young female researcher dressed in a blue-green research uniform.
"Oh my god! I was scared out of my wits! You... what took you so long?"
At the sight of Lin Feng, Pamela's face lit up with the relief of someone who had narrowly escaped death.
"You're Melon Farmer?"
Lin Feng frowned and cut straight to the point.
"That's right. I'm the one you're looking for!"
"And I think I even know why you've come looking for me."
Pamela's words left Lin Feng slightly taken aback. Could this woman predict the future?
"Let's hear it..."
"Oh, you just want to know who Watermelon Field Chara in the Black Fan Group is, don't you?"
"If I couldn't even figure that out, I wouldn't deserve the name Melon Farmer!"
Pamela carried on confidently, a smug look on her face that surprised Lin Feng a little.
"Oh? You're rather interesting, Ms. Melon Farmer..."
"Looks like I was right. Our great hero Lin really does have something going on with Station Manager Asta..."
"Oh my, the truth is right in front of us! I told those people, but they wouldn't believe me. Who knows how many Herta Girls will end up sobbing their hearts out in the bathroom..."
"As expected of Station Manager Asta. She's not just beautiful, she's got billions to spare. No wonder she won our great hero's heart..."
Pamela's lips curled into a teasing smile.
"Cut the chatter. Who exactly is Watermelon Field Chara? I'm in a hurry..."
Faced with Pamela's newly unleashed chatterbox tendencies, Lin Feng frowned slightly before speaking with an indifferent expression.
Just as Arlan had said, this so-called Melon Farmer was no ordinary woman. Her passion for gossip burned fiercely.
"Ahem... I'm a businesswoman, and businesspeople have their rules."
"If you want information from me, you'll have to pay a price."
"What price? Just say it!"
Lin Feng had little patience left for the female researcher before him.
After a brief hesitation, Pamela looked a little awkward and held up one slender finger.
"Just once... um... you know!"
"What? Sorry, Miss Melon Farmer, I don't..."
Lin Feng folded his arms across his chest, an amused look appearing on his face.
