Elena had made it far too obvious!
She was practically staking her claim!
Rather than being intimidated by Elena's words, the girls grew even more enthusiastic.
Unfortunately, the language barrier meant they couldn't communicate directly with Elena yet.
They could only direct their questions to Denji.
"Hey, hey, hey! Denji, are you and Elena boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"If Elena said something like that, she must be your girlfriend, right? She was obviously jealous just now, wasn't she?"
"Elena's cute when she's jealous, too! You'd better not let her down, Denji!"

The girls spoke to Denji with great enthusiasm.
Since she still couldn't understand much Japanese, Elena thought the girls were getting even more familiar with Denji.

Elena was so agitated that she started stammering.
It wasn't just because she was too embarrassed, but also because she couldn't think of a well-reasoned way to deny it on the spot.
"Huh? You weren't jealous? It doesn't really matter whether you were or not. I just want to know what it means."
Denji seemed determined to learn what the word meant no matter what, insisting on getting a full answer
