Asa Mitaka found such a stark contrast hard to accept.
Although Makima really was very pretty, she felt that she wasn't bad-looking either.
And for some reason, both Makima and Asaba had strange eyes, though eyes like those actually gave Makima a different kind of beauty.
Yet, faced with those exceptionally enthusiastic boys, Makima responded indifferently, "No, thank you."
With her intelligence, she simply had no need for notes or anyone else's help.

The boys were immediately at a loss for words. They hadn't expected Makima to be so cold.
Now too embarrassed to keep enthusiastically chatting with Makima, they all backed off.
Hearing Makima's cold refusal did make Asa Mitaka feel a little better.
By comparison, their other new classmate, Asaba Kotone, seemed much more approachable to their classmates.
He was fairly easygoing, and as long as the topic wasn't particularly sensitive, he answered almost every question he was asked.
This started to annoy Asa Mitaka again.
She couldn't understand why this guy also found it so easy to get along with their classmates, and even seemed capable of making friends very quickly.
Asa Mitaka was so jealous that it irritated her. She got up and left the classroom, planning to walk around outside and relax a little.
Yet out in the hallway, Asa Mitaka still couldn't relax.
There was always something she couldn't stand.
For instance, two or three girls were gathered in the restroom chatting, which she found a nuisance.
Although people like that did have something wrong with them, chatting in the restroom and getting in others' way, there was no need to dwell on it.
Either go up and say something, or ignore them entirely.
Dwelling on it would only put her in a worse mood.
But Asa Mitaka wasn't going to understand
