"Master, what's going on?"
Although he still did not understand what had happened here, Rider grasped the gravity of the situation.
He and Waver had rushed over as soon as they saw the strange phenomenon caused by Lancer. With his mobility, the journey had taken hardly any time at all, but clearly, something beyond their understanding had happened.
"I don't know either... but we've probably walked into a trap."
Lancer had disappeared, and Archer had killed himself. Even a fool should have realized someone was pulling the strings behind this.
Sure enough, applause came from the shadows.
"The fourth has arrived as well. Since you're so eager, it seems today is the time to settle things. Once everything is over, Waver, would you be interested in working for me?"
Roland emerged with Saber and Caster, both ready for battle, and looked at Waver and Rider as though victory were already his.
"Did you do all this? Did you kill Lancer and his Master too?"
Waver paid no attention to anything else and asked gravely.
"Actually, no." Roland looked troubled. "Although I know everything, all of this was brought about by nothing more than human greed and resentment. At most, I was merely a spectator."
"So we're your next targets?"
Waver's expression soured. Archer and Lancer's strength was beyond question. Faced with someone who could toy with those two Servants, he was not arrogant enough to think he had the means to fight back.
"Not entirely."
Roland answered readily, but his vague reply only left Waver bewildered.
"What does that mean..."
Before Roland could answer, however, Rider patted Waver's shoulder and spoke in a heavy voice.
"Look up."
The golden king, his heart pierced through, calmly met Roland's gaze from above.
"We meet again, God of Another World."
"You're still alive?"
