He woke up to find that he had transmigrated into Perfect World.
In this dangerous world, where a hand could shatter mountains and rivers, and a sword could sweep the ages into emptiness.
How would Shi Qingyun write his own legend? Forge his own myth?
This was a different Perfect World.
This was a transmigrator's road to the pinnacle.
A severed head in one hand, a fan in the other.
With a smile on his face and blood dripping from his hand, he murmured:
"I'm actually a good person."
"Right?"
Chapter 1: Shi Qingyun
The Desolate Region, the Stone Kingdom, the Martial King Manor.
Situated in the Stone Kingdom Imperial Capital, the manor had towering gates. Golden studs adorned its vermilion doors, lending them an especially imposing air.
Golden glazed tiles covered the great hall's roof, glittering in the sunlight. Exquisite murals filled its walls, depicting the Martial King Manor's glorious history and sacred deeds.
In an open little courtyard within the Martial King Manor, a young boy dressed in training clothes was carefully practicing a set of fist techniques.
His movements alternated between fast and slow. At times, he resembled a fierce tiger pouncing on its prey; at others, a turtle crawling along.
Every punch and kick was both graceful and brimming with strength. The sounds of his fists and feet slicing through the air echoed through the courtyard.
Sweat streamed down his little face, and large beads of it clung to his forehead.
He was panting heavily, and the pounding of his heart resounded through the little courtyard.
Even so, the boy remained undeterred. His movements were unaffected, his punches and kicks crisp and clean, without the slightest sloppiness. Resolve filled his eyes.
The boy's name was Shi Qingyun, and he was a member of the Martial King Manor. None of that mattered. What mattered most was that he had an older brother named "Shi Hao." (From here on, he'll be called Shi Qingfeng for convenience. Thank you!)
Unless he was mistaken, that was the lame little boy who had suffered in Shi Hao's place in the original story.
Somehow, he had become Shi Qingfeng's younger brother, someone who had never existed in the original story.
As for how he had arrived here, he had no idea. He had simply gone to sleep in his dorm room, only to wake up and find himself here.
And, inexplicably, he had become that poor little boy's younger brother.
In the courtyard, Shi Qingyun's punches grew faster and faster. The cracks of air rang out one after another, like a string of exploding firecrackers.
Shi Qingyun slowly moved into the final closing form. His eyes were tightly shut as he immersed himself in the connection between himself and heaven and earth.
He felt every pore in his body open after completing the routine. The vital essence drifting between heaven and earth slowly seeped into him.
The movements of his hands, one fast and one slow, intertwined and followed each other. Two black-and-white fish seemed to circle his left and right, while a Taiji symbol slowly took shape behind him.
Yet it appeared for only an instant before dispersing into heaven and earth.
Shi Qingyun slowly opened his eyes. The two swimming fish immediately left him, returning to heaven and earth as he carefully took stock of his body.
Countless thoughts flashed through Shi Qingyun's mind, but in the end, they all dissolved into a sigh.
With his tiny body and tender age, he nevertheless carried himself like an adult, making for a rather amusing sight.
In the blink of an eye, more than four years had passed since he came to this world. Remembering everything he had experienced over those years left Shi Qingyun mentally exhausted.
He had originally been a nineteen-year-old university student on Blue Star. All he had done was watch an episode of the Perfect World anime before bed, only to wake up and discover he had transmigrated.
Despair had swept through him! He had not even had a chance to properly enjoy university life before stumbling into an ancient world like this.
And he had become a one-and-a-half-year-old brat. Shi Qingyun felt his childhood had already been wonderful enough. He did not need to go through it again!
What was more, although he was only a little over a year old, he looked like a child of three or four. He had even feared that others would see his abnormality and regard him as a freak.
And so, he had observed everything around him in a state of constant anxiety.
He had thought things could not possibly get any worse. Only when that day arrived did he learn that there were worse things still.
That day, he had only been in this world for a few days and had formed some guesses about his identity. Wanting to learn more,
And curious about the world outside, he had played a little trick.
He had easily shaken off the maid who had been following him everywhere.
Then he had run outside to explore and learn more. But just as he approached a flat, open square,
A whistle of something cutting through the air reached his ears. Looking up, he saw a woman impaled on a spear, which was hurtling straight toward the wall beside him.
Had he not dodged quickly enough, the force trailing that spear might have taken him out as well.
Before he could recover from the terror of that sudden brush with death, he saw a large crowd of people "fighting."
More precisely, a group of old men, surrounded by all sorts of dazzling special effects, were besieging a young couple holding a baby.
In all his years of life, he had only seen scenes like that in movies. Now that one was unfolding right before his eyes, his mind completely froze.
He could scarcely believe that humans were capable of such things. The intermittent booms around those people and the howling wind beside his ears flooded into his mind all at once.
Only after a while did he manage to calm himself down. Watching the movie-like scene before him, he could not help edging over to a safer place to watch.
He had to admit, the visuals were incredible. He was literally immersed in the scene!
He was also wondering just where he had ended up.
They seemed to be saying something, though he could not understand them. Still, the exchange seemed quite heated.
An old man leading one of the two groups shouted angrily at Shi Ziling, "Ziling, stop this! Hao'er's Supreme Bone has already been transplanted into Yi'er. Must you kill Yi'er and destroy another genius of our Martial King Manor? Do you intend to cut off the Martial King Manor's future?"
The young man threw back his head and laughed. Bloody tears streamed from his eyes as he spoke without the slightest mercy:
"His life matters, but my Hao'er's life doesn't? Today, I'll slaughter this beast and win justice for my Hao'er!"
As Shi Qingyun watched them, the scene suddenly overlapped with one in his memory. He nodded in recognition at the familiar sight. So I've ended up in Perfect World. Huh? Aaaaaah!
Waves of foreboding suddenly washed over him. After all, Perfect World was notoriously dangerous, with peril lurking everywhere.
Would an insignificant nobody like him get sneezed to death by some mighty expert?
While his thoughts ran wild, his gaze caught the little baby held in Shi Ziling's arms.
Only then did much of his anxiety subside.
That must be the future Desolate Heaven Emperor!
Looking at the baby, who barely clung to life, Shi Qingyun felt some of his worries about the future ease.
The future Desolate Heaven Emperor had yet to grow up, which meant he still had some time to grow himself.
Chapter 2: Trouble at the Door
Standing in the little courtyard, Shi Qingyun slowly drew his thoughts back and stopped dwelling on those matters.
He carefully reviewed what he had gained over the past few years.
Through these years of study, he had not only learned a great deal of basic rune knowledge, but also mastered this world's language.
By now, he had memorized almost all the runes he had studied. They would be indispensable when he eventually set foot on the path of cultivation.
Moreover, his understanding of this world had become much clearer. It was no longer merely a few sparse lines in the original story. What stood before him now was a living, breathing world.
The novelty of arriving in a new world had faded from his heart, replaced instead by greater caution and vigilance.
Although he knew the broad course this world's future would take, he only knew some important events and people. Everything else was unknown to him.
All fear arose from the unknown, so Shi Qingyun could only slowly explore and come to understand this world himself.
Although his transmigration had not come with some heaven-defying cheat, it had not been entirely without benefits.
Both his physical aptitude and his comprehension had improved considerably.
The most obvious change was his comprehension. Everything he had achieved over the past few years had come through it!
Whether he was studying the language or runes, he could master them quickly, giving him a little more confidence in his future.
After all, comprehension became increasingly important in the later stages of cultivation. Sometimes, understanding simply came when it came, and the difference of a single step was a heavenly chasm.
But none of that was something he needed to consider yet. For now, he had not embarked on the path of cultivation and was still tempering his body and laying a solid foundation.
As for the fist technique he had just practiced, he had developed it through his own comprehension, recalling the Taiji boxing he had learned at university and adapting it to this world's conditions to temper his body.
Ever since learning what sort of world he was in, he had begun tempering his body.
In any world, the body was the foundation of everything. Only a strong body could support his subsequent plans.
As for why his older brother had gone to the Second Ancestral Land with their grandfather, while he had remained in the Martial King Manor?
That was something Shi Qingyun did not want to remember, mainly because it was far too embarrassing.
Having only just transmigrated at the time, he still could not use this world's language. Whatever he encountered, he was completely in the dark.
Although he could roughly guess what others were saying, the main problem was that he could not speak it himself!
When he first transmigrated, the maids took care of him each day, so he had no need to speak. He had planned to learn this world's language first and deal with everything else later.
Naturally, the maids did not force him to speak, either.
They simply thought Shi Qingyun was well-behaved, neither crying nor making a fuss.
But that day, he had fainted at the site of the battle and been found there.
His grandfather and others who knew Shi Qingyun all thought he had been injured by the battle's aftershocks.
When Shi Qingyun's grandfather tried to take him away, he saw the vacant expression on Shi Qingyun's face and his silent, witless state, so he left him in the Martial King Manor for treatment.
Besides, Shi Qingyun's grandfather knew that the journey ahead promised far more danger than safety. He had already put one grandson on the line. Thinking he had to protect at least the other one, he left Shi Qingyun behind.
