Azure Emperor’s Inheritance

Yan Ruyu is one of the Azure Emperor’s only two remaining descendants. She regards mastering his Profound Method and restoring his glory as obligations she cannot abandon. Her followers address her as “Your Highness,” and she directs their preparations and movements 44 46 48.

When Jiang Zhu arrives at Profound Origin Valley, she recognizes his powerful physique as suitable for nurturing the Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart. After examinations confirm his suitability, she rejects the elders’ proposal to restrain him and instead asks him to place the heart in his own Life Spring 43 44.

Cultivation with Jiang Zhu

Yan Ruyu needs the Sacred Heart’s blood to cultivate her ancestor’s art. Although initially reluctant to cultivate intimately with Jiang Zhu, she pursues a more efficient transfer method after their first session wastes most of the available energy. Her urgency comes from suspicious Ji Family activity and uncertainty over whether a secluded figure who has obtained a talented fleshly vessel can successfully emerge to protect them 45 46.

Their repeated sessions lead her to question Jiang Zhu’s resemblance to the Sacred Heart. When he reveals his Nine-Leaf Sword Grass form, she summons the Azure Emperor’s Weapon. Over several months, Yan Ruyu becomes more comfortable with Jiang Zhu. Their cultivation develops into physical affection, though she continues to restrain his advances and reacts sharply when he oversteps. An uninvited guest eventually prompts her to order a complete withdrawal from the Profound Origin Sect and seek shelter with a powerful Demon Clan expert 48.

Ancient Battlefield Confrontation

Ji Haoyue intercepts the departing group at the Ancient Battlefield and demands the Demon Emperor’s Saint Weapon. The battlefield prevents them from opening a Domain Gate. Yan Ruyu orders followers to protect Jiang Zhu’s escape, then confronts Ji Haoyue herself 49.

Her chaos-infused golden lotuses shatter his bright-moon manifestation, prompting five Ji Family elders to attack her. Jiang Zhu intervenes despite her repeated requests that he leave. When Ji Haoyue activates the Void Mirror, Yan Ruyu answers with the Demon Emperor’s Saint Weapon; the collision forces both wielders backward and silently reduces the surrounding terrain to ash 49 50.

Yan Ruyu is cool, reserved, and seldom talkative. Her outward serenity conceals anxiety over the dwindling imperial lineage and the threats facing her followers. She places their survival and her ancestor’s legacy above her discomfort with the intimate cultivation method 46 47.

She is decisive when challenged: she overrules elders who want Jiang Zhu restrained and ends Qin Yao’s objections once she has chosen how to cultivate. She also shows concern for Jiang Zhu’s safety, arranging protection for him and urging him to flee the Ji Family battle 44 46 49 50.

Her growing affection does not erase her boundaries. She stops Jiang Zhu’s wandering hands during cultivation and throws him onto a hall beam after he kisses her again following a session 48.
