Background / History

Jiang Yun is a reincarnated individual whose previous life included airplanes and other technological means of flight. He was reborn into the Evil Spirit Clan, a people bred by the Outer Realm Evil Clan from its own bloodlines and those of the Great Thousand World. According to his grandfather Jiang Hong, his parents died in a conflict shortly after his birth 1 9.

His apparently absent palm Evil Eyes and innate Nine Divine Veins led the clan to regard his bloodline as its most perfect. His birth offered its Heavenly Sovereigns hope of escaping their treatment as slaves, killing machines, and expendable troops. Jiang Ya, the clan patriarch, placed particular faith in his potential 1 4.

The Saint Heavenly Demon Emperor intended to use Jiang Yun as a hidden pawn in the Great Thousand World and left a wisp of Saint Heavenly Demon Flame inside him. Jiang Yun was eventually dispatched through a space-time storm as part of the plan to save the Heavenly Evil God. Watching other clansmen die in the crossing, he resolved to return and change their fate 1 2.

During transit, the Emperor’s manifestation ordered him to infiltrate the Great Thousand World, remain hidden, and rescue several people. Jiang Hong and Jiang Ya intervened, and the tower suppressed the manifestation and its child flame. The tower instead carried Jiang Yun to the Dou Qi Continent, whose unusual aura had attracted its spirit’s attention 3 4 11.

Appearance

• Eyes and features: Dark, shining eyes as a child; later described with sword-sharp brows, star-bright eyes, rosy lips, and pearly teeth 1 19.
• Growth: Approximately 1.2 metres tall at seven and 1.5 metres tall at nearly ten, by which point he had surpassed Zi Yan’s child form in height 16 19.
• Bearing: Refined features and a gentle, cultured manner, despite his young age 19.
• Concealed clan trait: His two inherited Evil Eyes merged into one hidden within his spiritual sea, leaving no permanent palm eye visible 6.

Personality

Jiang Yun is cautious around stronger strangers and willing to act deferentially when survival demands it. He remained guarded even after Su Qian approached amicably and concealed his alchemy until he could supply a plausible explanation for it. His patience also surprised the academy elders: rather than stirring up trouble in the Outer Academy, he spent years quietly cultivating and reading 3 8 20 39.

His loyalty overrides that caution when someone he cares about is threatened. Although weaker than Zi Yan, he instinctively shielded her from an unknown arrival. He respects the academy elders’ genuine concern, accepts Elder Huo’s admonition, and regards Su Qian as someone especially dear to him 8 26 41.

His pursuit of strength is driven by the Evil Spirit Clan’s survival rather than cultivation alone. That urgency can make him reckless: after surviving the danger surrounding the Fallen Heart Flame, he acknowledged that coincidence had helped him win and could not guarantee repeating the feat 11 43 44.
