"Sacrificial Talismans are things of a very distant age, originating from... never mind. Perhaps they were pure an eternity ago, but things are different now. Better not to mention them." Shi clearly knew what Sacrificial Talismans were, but he was very sensitive about them and unwilling to explain much, seemingly wary of something.
Seeing how "cautious" Shi was about Sacrificial Talismans, the Kings tactfully refrained from pressing him. Anything that could make even a False Emperor adopt such an attitude spoke volumes. It was not something they could touch.
"Are you worried that I'm tempting you? There's really no need. Although Sacrificial Talismans cannot be mentioned, the talisman paper is another matter. It was born on the Reincarnation Road, buried beneath thick layers of reincarnation soil, and possesses the mighty power to shelter all things beneath the heavens." Shi looked at the Kings present and said softly, "It is both a token and a vessel. Any being wishing to pass along the Reincarnation Road must carry it to evade 'obliteration.' Then the seas are wide for fish to leap, and the skies are high for birds to fly."
"Senior Shi, what would happen if someone entered the Reincarnation Road without the talisman paper?" an Undying King asked.
"What else could happen? Didn't I say before that the Reincarnation Road is the order governing everything? Without the talisman paper, you would merely become a drop of blood, a piece of flesh, or a bone in a new life, the old self giving rise to the new." Shi recounted this horrifying truth in a placid voice. "Of course, if you were fortunate enough and had destiny on your side, you might slip through successfully. But that is very difficult. At least with your strength, such a miracle is out of the question."
