Background
Chi Wuxia is the Red King’s daughter and a member of the Time Beast lineage. Cherished since childhood, she grows up surrounded by favorable circumstances while retaining empathy for others 329 341.
Despite her race’s affinity for time, she develops an unconventional interest in stealth and surprise attacks. Her father sends her to Wu Shang, hoping that exposure to immunity to all arts will persuade her to abandon this direction. The attempt fails, and she continues advocating what she calls the Thieving Dao 264.
She enters the Great Medicine-Nurturing Mountains to gather herbs for an intended advancement. Her encounter with Di Yi turns the expedition into a kidnapping scheme and, eventually, a journey lasting twenty years before she reunites with her father 262 264 329.
Appearance
- Appears as a young woman and is described as having a lovely face 264 283.
- Has expressive reactions: her eyes widen at unexpected displays of power, and her mouth forms an “O” when Di Yi secures the captive Time Beast 263 264.
- Pays attention to ladylike comportment, choosing a smooth stone rather than sitting directly on gravel and covering her mouth after laughing at the Golden Hou 264 271.
Personality
Chi Wuxia is lively, mischievous, and persuasive. She enthusiastically recruits Di Yi into her theft scheme, proposes that they spread the Thieving Dao together, and continues playing a bandit even while holding her own father captive. Once the resulting search grows beyond her expectations, however, she regrets her recklessness and proposes lying low 263 264.
Her confidence coexists with an awareness of danger. She questions unfamiliar beings rather than immediately attacking, hesitates before phenomena beyond her understanding, and nevertheless pursues rare opportunities such as the bone stele’s sword intent 270 273. Repeated encounters with altered histories and Emperor-level power unsettle her deeply, especially when they threaten her understanding of her own existence 276 343.
She remains strongly attached to her family. She worries that her travels may have left her separated from home by an immense span of time, prepares to plead for her father’s life, and later fears for the Kings taken away by Shi. The Millstone’s treatment of the dead also disturbs her despite her considerable strength and resilience 300 329 341.
Abilities & Skills
Time Affinity
As a Time Beast, Chi Wuxia has a natural affinity for time 264.
- Keenly senses the ages and ancient history trembling during disturbances in the Great Dao 280.
- Detects that a stretch of ancient history appears to have changed during a battle across time 281.
- Is not immune to temporal erosion: the vortex passage ages her body and drains her primordial spirit until Di Yi intervenes 270.
Thieving Dao
Chi Wuxia seeks to develop divine abilities and ancestral arts that act without an opponent noticing. She regards undetected movement and surprise attacks as legitimate forms of strength 264.
- Proposes extending stealth-like qualities across her inherited techniques to secure an advantage before battle begins 264.
- Receives guidance from Di Yi that “stealing” can also mean preserving leisure, survival, and opportunity amid constant change 264.
- Pursues this direction despite her father’s disapproval; no completed supreme technique or resulting realm advancement is documented 264.
Supreme-Level Cultivation
Chi Wuxia possesses profound arts, ancestral techniques, and the ability to activate the laws of the Great Dao 271.
- Exerts throwing force that would ordinarily allow even a leaf to collapse a mountain 271.
- Overwhelms a beast-headed, snake-bodied creature’s mind-bewitching sound with her voice 273.
- Has foundations sufficient to cross the threshold of immortality, although she remains a Supreme 331.
- Cannot overcome the strange resistance of the bones near the seven-colored barrier, even after combining physical strength with her techniques 271.
Knowledge and Comprehension
Her Emperor Clan upbringing gives her access to information unavailable to ordinary cultivators, including prophecies concerning the dark Great Reckoning 277.
- Explains the Foreign Realm’s territorial allocation, resource access, and cultivation conflicts to Di Yi and the Golden Hou 268.
- Recognizes mountains and rivers containing heaven and earth’s profound meaning, including their potential to produce a powerful Dao Fruit 272.
- Recognizes Netherworld Judges from legend 273.
- Explains merit-based rewards, Dao Artifact materials, and the risks of forging an artifact before one’s understanding of the Dao matures 300.
- Gains insights from witnessing Di Yi’s sword techniques, though their full scope remains beyond her comprehension 291 292.
Equipment / Items
- Little Furnace — Used to knock out an immortal guarding the mountains, contain the sack holding the captured Time Beast, and strike the captive Red King. He finds its blows painful even in his transforming body 262 263.
- Beast-hide sack — Thrown over the Red King’s transforming body. The captive loses access to his magical power inside it; Di Yi draws the mouth shut and suppresses the capture before Chi Wuxia ties it and places it in the furnace 262 263.
- Medicinal herbs — Gathered to support an intended advancement. She initially refuses to cultivate while hiding because the disturbance could expose their location 264.
Relationships
- Red King — Father. He disapproves of her surprise-attack cultivation path but remains affectionate and respects her growing independence. She is willing to plead with an Emperor to save him 264 329 331.
- Di Yi — Accomplice, protector, and cultivation adviser. Her initial curiosity and fondness develop alongside growing awareness of his extraordinary identity; their association is described as twenty years of “friendship” 264 267 329. He later reassures her that their unexpected meeting gives her existence meaning even before an Emperor 343.
- Golden Hou — Fellow traveler. Their exchanges include teasing and laughter, while his straightforward attitude helps her regain confidence in the present 271 272.
- Wu Shang — An elder to whom her father sends her in hopes of changing her cultivation direction. He later examines her unexplained inability to borrow future power 264 331.
- Unnamed King-realm woman — Companion encountered beyond the ordinary world. Her revelations about repeating eras and an approaching calamity challenge Chi Wuxia’s understanding of reality 276 277.
- Foreign Realm Kings — Elders whom she addresses as uncles. After Di Yi spares them, they regard themselves as indebted to her, whether or not she directly secured their pardon 329 331.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Medicine Theft and the Red King’s Capture
Di Yi catches Chi Wuxia stealing medicine in the Red King’s ancestral land. After she knocks out an immortal guard, she proposes capturing a Time Beast to divert the lineage’s attention. She guides Di Yi into restricted grounds and throws a sack over a scarlet beast in Small Earth City 262.
The captive is the Red King’s transforming body. Chi Wuxia continues pretending to be a bandit, rejects his claim to be her father, and beats the sack with her furnace. Di Yi recognizes their relationship but plays along rather than exposing it 263.
The disappearance triggers a massive search. The pair obtain an edict claiming that the Red King is safe and away for a stroll, then consider hiding until the mobilized forces withdraw. During this period, Di Yi offers Chi Wuxia a broader interpretation of her Thieving Dao 263 264. He eventually returns the Red King to his residence and leaves with her and the Golden Hou 268.
Overlapping Ancient Histories
While traveling through a Heaven Domain Formation passage, the group is drawn into a vortex of time. Chi Wuxia and the Golden Hou nearly perish from aging before Di Yi restores them with the Three Talents Reincarnation Formation 270.
Chi Wuxia sees another version of herself, a bad future, and an indistinct person riding a Golden-Haired Hou. Di Yi warns that the vision may not represent the future she will experience and that reckless interference could make its events real 270.
Beyond the passage, she encounters the sacred White Bone Sea, a bone stele with warm yet terrifying sword intent, Netherworld Judges, and visions of ancient battles. An unnamed King-realm woman then reveals that they have entered a round of Reincarnation and speaks of repeated eras and an approaching catastrophe 270 273 275 276 277.
Emperor Battles and Escape
Di Yi’s declaration that the Ultimate Land is his kingdom forces Chi Wuxia to reconsider his identity. He subsequently explains that he is, in a qualified sense, an Emperor undergoing revival after extinction 279 280.
She witnesses battles that alter ancient history and exceed her previous understanding of cultivation. A sword light’s influence erodes her memories, leaving her unable to recall when the Rotten Wooden Box appeared 281 283. Di Yi’s later clash with the Memorial Tablet also makes her question whether her father’s mastery of time could truly carry him beyond the King realm 293.
Di Yi leads the group out through collapsing passages and the Land of Nothingness. Once they return to the present world, Chi Wuxia worries about how much time has passed but chooses to continue traveling with him 288 289 299 300.
Reunion and the Special Land
When the Kings provoke Di Yi, Chi Wuxia returns prepared to ask him to spare her father. Before she can plead, Di Yi tells her to reunite with the Red King. She embraces him after twenty years apart, while the Kings realize that they have escaped execution 329.
The Special Land exposes an unexplained abnormality: the Golden Hou can borrow future power, but Chi Wuxia remains unchanged. Although ready to attain immortality, she displays only her existing Supreme-level strength. She suspects a connection to the histories she witnessed—histories in which her present self should not have existed—but keeps the details private 331.
Reincarnation Road and the Unknown Figure
Chi Wuxia joins the expedition along the Reincarnation Road. Darkness nearly draws her off the living passage before Di Yi pulls her back. Farther on, she sees the vast Millstone grinding corpses and severed limbs into a blood lake 333 338 341.
After Shi takes the Kings away, she follows Di Yi toward the Millstone and beyond it. Di Yi explains that she could potentially find their own world’s Reincarnation Road by using somewhere such as the Netherworld as a stepping stone 341.
In the Pure Land of Reincarnation, Chi Wuxia studies traces left by previous visitors and considers gathering exceptional reincarnated individuals around herself. One trace reveals a remarkable man whose pressure suggests an Emperor, and whom she inexplicably feels she knows. Di Yi finds no corresponding trace even after investigating 342 343.
The experience renews her fear that her life or history has been rewritten. Di Yi reassures her that her unique meeting with him remains meaningful. He privately considers whether the place has allowed her to glimpse a future belonging to her, but the man’s identity and connection to her remain unresolved 343.
