The final act
Lorry stroked the golden Mask a couple of times before putting it on.
Suddenly, he felt a change in his body; he could easily lift a double solid wood bed with one hand, and in the blink of an eye, he transformed into a blur and rushed several meters away.
At the same time, the lingering pain from exercising quickly subsided.
In the blink of an eye, I've returned to peak condition.
Extremely strong recovery ability, exaggerated speed and outstanding strength... Lorry seemed thoughtful, recalling Fors's account.
He carefully assessed his own condition and whispered:
"I didn't notice any difference," the Hanged Man's Coldness and self-proclaimed God —was it all negated by the negative effects of his "Self"?
Moreover, the first two aspects of my "Self" seem to have been alleviated by the "Calmness" brought about by this Mask. I still feel that I am omnipotent and despise others, but I will not show it as easily as before. I can Calmness analyze the consequences before making a decision.
"It's a pleasant surprise; now we don't need to customize Sealed Artifact."
"From now on, your name will be ' Calm Mask '."
With this thought in mind, Lorry made a new discovery.
He believes that the unexpected divine reaction between "Self" and "Calm Mask" is something to be happy about, as the negative effects cancel each other out.
But he remained completely unmoved, as if the matter had nothing to do with him.
After a two-second silence, Lorry Rui whispered expressionlessly:
"No emotional fluctuations..."
He took a breath and began to study Black Magic and Primitive Curse.
The "Calm Mask" grants six spells: "Nightmare Erosion," "Life Deprivation," "Flesh Echo," "Shadow Servant," "Summon Wraith," and "Control Corpses."
The first three belong to Primitive Curse, while the latter three belong to Black Magic. Their power is roughly equivalent to the strength of Sequence 7.
One of the spells that Lorry values most is "Flesh Echo," which allows him to sense the target's location simply by performing a corresponding ritual on their flesh, nails, hair, or other objects.
The accuracy of the sensor varies with distance.
The closer the distance, the more likely it is to detect the target's exact location. If the distance is too far, only the approximate location can be detected.
The other five are easy to understand; they all have literal meanings.
After trying it out once, Lorry took off his "Calm Mask" and instantly felt alive again, regaining his joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.
He took out the "Shadow Ring" again, tried it briefly, and was pleasantly surprised to find that he was no longer influenced by the instigation.
"Similarly, because of the effect of ' Self,' the Instigator ' is equally helpless against me." Lorry couldn't help but smile. "Is this the benefit of the 'I'm the best' mentality?"
After thinking it over, he placed his "Self," which had transformed into a gray bracelet, into the Black Crystal Box and did not experiment with any other Sealed Artifact.
The terms "False Face" and "Sure-Hit Revolver" are unnecessary.
As for the "Knight's Hand," he dared not use it. Even though Lorry wasn't a "Seer," his intuition still told him that these two Sealed Artifact could not be used at the same time.
After carefully storing his Sealed Artifact, he began to ponder the digestion of the "Swindler's " Potion and how to investigate the "Fantasy Society."
During Monday's Tarot Club, Lorry suddenly received a rather significant feedback, which he suspected might be related to the forged Roselle's Diary. At this point, only the final step remained before he could fully digest it.
He planned to complete his final role during the investigation.
Lorry took a slow, deep breath, then slowly exhaled, murmuring:
"Once this matter is over, all that's left is to wait, to wait for Little Sun to be released from his imprisonment and to exchange for those two materials for me."
"I have a feeling that this day is not far away!"
Thursday evening.
"Keep your head down, Fors, don't look around." She stretched in her patched vacation clothes and whispered to the person beside her.
"I asked some friends, and they said two Private Detective had accidents in the area before. We're being careful to avoid being targeted too."
Fors glanced at her roommate and saw that the other person deliberately looked away.
She asked in a voice only the two of them could hear, her tone impatient:
Why didn't you tell me sooner that the "source material," the "different experience," and the "potential inspiration" you mentioned were actually pretending to Vagrant and freezing on the street?
"Hugh, have you ever heard of a writer pretending to be Vagrant to gather material?"
Xiu gave a dry laugh and muttered:
"If I had told you sooner, you definitely wouldn't have come to help me..."
She received a mission from the Golden Mask Man had previously purchased the "Sheriff" Formula to investigate Evil God, Believer seemed rather tricky.
But wanting to resolve his debts as soon as possible, he decided to take some risks.
Fors happened to be working on a new novel and wanted to experience something new, plus she was worried about her friend's safety, so she came along.
But clearly, Hugh was hiding something from her about to experience something new...
"Then I'll lend you the Bracelet too." Fors snorted. "Tonight, your punishment is to go back and cook, as well as Breakfast and dinner tomorrow!"
Hugh's expression froze for a moment, then he nodded with an awkward smile:
"... good."
She leaned against the wall of the coffee shop, her head slightly lowered, and while discreetly observing passersby out of the corner of her eye, she asked in a low voice:
What were you looking at just now?
"Nothing..." Fors shook his head almost imperceptibly, "It's just that worker on that Public Bench across the street, he seems a bit strange."
"Strange?" Hugh murmured, glancing quickly in that direction.
Fors asked, "Have you found anything?"
"No." Hugh quickly looked away and said with certainty, "My intuition tells me he's just an ordinary unemployed worker."
Well... Fors didn't say anything more, but couldn't help glancing at her again.
Don't say there's nothing wrong with this person, but why do I feel a strange sense of closeness when I see him, even though I've never met him before...?
Sunset and moonrise.
Crimson Light illuminated the earth.
As Arthur silently calculated how many more brothers and sisters he needed to guide to reach the baptism of the God, he followed his body's memory and walked towards the familiar street.
"Today's Holy Communion was a bit little, no, it's getting less and less." He sucked hard into his still-empty stomach and murmured silently.
With a few pence left in his inner pocket, should he buy the cheapest black bread...? Arthur stood at the crossroads, unable to resist glancing at the cheap coffee shop around the corner.
Suddenly, his gaze stopped, and his eyes widened slightly.
Arthur rubbed his eyes hard and strode towards the Public Bench:
"Brother Bart?"
I haven't seen you these past few days.
Just then, he noticed two Police approaching from a short distance away, who seemed to have noticed them, and quickly whispered a reminder:
"The black and white dog is here! Sit up!"
As he spoke, he reached out and gave him a hand.
"You're not allowed to sleep here, understand?" One of the Police tapped the armrest of the Public Bench with his baton, making a loud bang.
"Yes, Police Officer! We'll leave right away!"
With a forced smile, and under the impatient gazes of the two Police, Arthur dragged the Brother Bart, whom he had met a few days earlier, and gritted his teeth as they headed towards the coffee shop across the street.
