"Literature Lover"
Lorry had no idea where Altair was.
He just walked aimlessly forward, changing direction whenever he encountered an obstacle, looking as relaxed as if he were taking a stroll in his own backyard.
The White Bone Ring couldn't help but speak up to remind him:
"Kid, the opponent's abilities are very strange. You'd better be careful."
It paused slightly, then asked, as if listing items:
"Did you bring the Spirituality restoration Charm I taught you to make yesterday, Sealed Artifact might be needed later? Have you replenished the Spirituality you consumed?"
Hearing the worry and tension in that aged voice, Lorry felt a surge of warmth in his heart and nodded almost imperceptibly.
He slowly exhaled and chuckled:
"Don't worry, this is just what I want Altair to see, how could it be..."
Lorry's soliloquy came to an abrupt halt.
His gaze suddenly froze, fixed on a figure not far away, his body tense, and he couldn't help but tremble slightly.
Lorry let out a "ha," forcibly suppressing his emotions.
He walked towards it and soon arrived at the small valley, where he saw a huge Altar behind the other person inscribed with strange symbols.
Their eyes met.
A strange and ambiguous smile appeared on Altair's lips.
Lorry stared at Altair with a gloomy gaze, his lips tightly pressed together, his face expressionless, as if a Flames was Burning inside him.
Its name is Never-Ending Struggle.
Actually, this was only the second time the two had met.
Lorry first heard the name from Miles, who took him to a buffet dinner and where he met Fors at the Salon.
But sometimes fate just likes to play tricks on people.
The massacre at the Mountain Estate, Miles's descent into depravity, the death of the Lieutenant Colonel, and the unprecedented Catastrophe for the people of the East Borough and the Factory District, all fueled an unprecedented hostility towards one person in Lorry, even leading him to contemplate dragging that person down to hell, even at his own cost.
Altair slowly spoke:
"It seems you're fully prepared and have already come to your senses, but..."
He shrugged with a smile, his tone instantly turning cold:
It's still not enough.
"Following in the footsteps of your pathetic and laughable boss, today you too will face your destined end, dedicating your body and soul to the supreme..."
"Bang!"
A tremendous roar echoed through the valley, interrupting Altair's pre-battle declaration.
The bullets, Burning with fire, passed through Altair and the Altar without causing any damage, as if their existence were merely an Illusions.
Lorry's pupils constricted, finally experiencing firsthand how troublesome Altair was.
He quickly pulled a gold Mask from his pocket, covered his face, and then pulled out an iron- Black Gloves and put it on his left hand.
Losing the suppression of his "Self," Lorry immediately felt the negative effects described by the "Hanged Man," but at this moment he thought it was a good thing.
In his Coldness state, his heart seemed to be sealed away; no longer grieving over the death of the Lieutenant Colonel, he was better able to maintain his rationality.
But when facing even stronger opponents, the "Knight" will not be Arrogance.
Altair scoffed, seemingly mocking Lorry's overestimation of his abilities.
"You call yourself a writer? Don't you know that 'the villain dies from talking too much' is just a deliberate plot device?" He said, tearing a page from the Dark Gold book in his hand and tossing it forward with a mocking smile. "Give up, I won't give you any chance to turn the tables!"
A page of the same color as the cover floated out and quickly transformed into a figure.
Vera!
Lorry's body swayed slightly involuntarily, and his "Coldness" almost failed him.
Altair smiled with satisfaction and said jokingly, "Now it's up to you and your old boss. I hope to see a great fight."
The White Bone Ring quickly spoke up to remind them:
"Kid, don't fall for it!"
"This ' Vera ' is just..."
"I know." Lorry's emotions were quickly calmed, and he replied Calmness, his gaze fixed on the approaching "Vera."
"You're a fake..." He silently told himself, gazing at that familiar face, before turning his gun around and pulling the trigger without hesitation.
"Bang!"
The fake Vera reacted swiftly, dodging to the side, and frowned, saying:
"Kid, you dare lay a hand on me?"
Having said that, he pushed his palm forward forcefully:
"The use of any type of firearm is prohibited here."
This imposter even has Beyonder Ability?
However, his momentum was far inferior to that of the Lieutenant Colonel. Was it due to the creator's strength? Lorry put away "Sure-Hit Revolver" and secretly speculated about Altair's abilities.
With that thought flashing through his mind, he snorted coldly:
"Target of Punishment: Everything that is not real."
As soon as he finished speaking, a radiant glow, like the morning sun, appeared on Lorry's body.
He stomped hard, creating a large crater in the soft soil, and lunged forward, instantly closing in on the fake Vera.
The opponent, of course, wouldn't sit idly by and wait to be killed; he swung his palm forcefully.
"Imprisonment!"
Lorry countered the move by quickly rubbing the White Bone Ring.
"Distortion!"
The invisible cage brushed past him, and then he threw a punch.
Bang!
The fake Vera lost her balance and stumbled.
Lorry seized the opportunity to unleash a barrage of punches and kicks, his offensive as fierce as a storm, quickly rendering the fake Vera powerless to fight back, causing him to crumble into specks of light.
"Clap clap!"
Applause erupted.
Altair wore a face full of feigned regret:
That's so cruel.
"He killed his former boss without even blinking an eye."
"You're the one who truly killed him." In this state, Lorry possessed absolute rationality and was completely unaffected by words.
"No, it really is you." Altair smiled, repeating his previous action, tearing off another Dark Gold page, and asked maliciously:
"If it weren't for knowing you, how could Vera have died?"
"Not only him, but also Miles, the old Police from Koyar Village, and those writers from the Mountain Estate, have all been implicated by you!"
"Furthermore, Vera's other Informant and subordinates... not only will they die, but they will also bear the infamy of believing in Evil God, just like their superior."
"If MI9 discovers your whereabouts, the same thing will happen to you."
Lorry's heart skipped a beat. He suddenly remembered the Police who had blocked his way earlier, and that angry shout. His emotions surged once again.
Seeing this, Altair smiled knowingly.
He lowered his voice and continued to entice them with words:
"Lorry, don't you understand?"
"Everyone, including those who died in the Sacrificial Ritual before, it's all because of you. You are the real murderer!"
"This is the price you pay for not having the strength to protect yourself, yet still trying to get close to others!"
"No matter how much you deny it, they are sins you cannot erase... Give up the resistance and follow the great Supreme Being with me."
"Give your faith to Him, serve Him with your body and soul, and He will guide you to the true path of salvation."
