"Book of Calamities"
Xiu laughed out loud, realizing that her friend was deliberately getting revenge on her.
She took a bite of Desi Pie, rolled her eyes, and said:
"Tch, I'm Believer of the Goddess. She teaches us women can also support half the family. Do you think I'd envy you?"
"Really?" Fors said with a smile. "Oh, that's a pity, Hugh. I was originally planning to use the money he used to support me to support you."
Glug!
Xiu swallowed the food in his mouth forcefully, revealing his interest.
Seeing this, Fors laughed without any restraint, until her friend's eyes narrowed into a dangerous arc, then she coughed to suppress her laughter.
He glared at the other person fiercely and said dejectedly:
"Unlike you, I'm not really interested in the world of Mysticism. The only reason I work hard to earn money and improve my Sequence is because..."
The words abruptly stopped, Fors pressed on, asking:
Why?
She knew some things about her friend, but not the specifics. Judging from what she had just said, it wasn't hard to conclude that there was a considerable secret involved.
Xiu hesitated for a moment, then began to recount the past in a low voice.
On the wall, the hands of the clock moved slowly, and in the warm Living Room, Hugh's childish voice and Fors's soft words of comfort continued to echo.
Finally, she ruffled her friend's messy blonde hair and smiled, saying:
"Hugh... whatever you want to do, I support you and will do everything I can to help. Um... I'll also try to ask him for help."
"That guy is only Sequence 7..." Hugh felt a warm glow in his heart, letting his friend ruffle his hair as he muttered softly.
Suddenly, she laughed self-deprecatingly:
"Back when we were joking about you being kept by that guy, I actually fantasized about something."
"If someone can help investigate the Truth of what happened back then and help my father and family restore their honor, I'm willing to give everything."
"Unfortunately, the chips on both sides of the scale are severely unequal, I..."
As he spoke, a thought struck him, and he quickly pinpointed the source of the feeling that something was wrong.
She saw her friend's hand freeze on her head, a look of astonishment appearing on her face, her pale blue eyes flashing as she prepared to be wary.
"Hey! Be rational!"
Hugh shoved his friend's hand away and snapped irritably:
"Only you would treat that guy like a treasure, okay?"
"I am the ' Arbiter,' and he is the ' Marauder.' Without you, I would feel uncomfortable just being in the same space as him."
"Also, do you know how difficult this is? I admit that guy is stronger than me for now, but compared to... you should know what I mean."
Fors for a moment, then nodded slightly. "That's true."
As she spoke, a smile returned to her face, and she reached out to touch her friend's hair. "No matter what, I will support you and help you."
"Okay, let's eat first, it won't taste good when it gets cold."
Hugh nodded and sat back down on the Single Sofa.
Suddenly, she paused, noticing the difference in her friend's two responses. After a few seconds of stunned silence, she glared at her friend, a mixture of amusement and exasperation on her face.
This woman is hopeless!
Symeem Island, Port town Inn.
When Lorry woke up, it was almost noon. He went downstairs for a quick meal, then returned to his room and took out the "Book of Calamities".
Having set up the Wall of Spirituality, he imagined Scholarly Man.
A moment later, the desired divination result is obtained:
First, like the Hanged Man, Laticia possessed Elf blood.
Secondly, the content of the Book of Calamities is not the problem; the reason she lost control was that the Book of Calamities resonated with her bloodline.
In other words, there's no problem for normal humans to study this book... Of course, the "Calamity Bracelet" shouldn't be worn to prevent accidents...
Thinking this, Lorry placed the Sealed Artifact into another Dimension, retrieved the White Bone Ring, put it on his finger, and asked in a low voice:
"Old Gentleman, may I make a copy of its contents for Sacrifice?"
--It had been analyzing blood inside "Bonebreaker" Sebas all night.
"Elvish?" The miniature eyes manifested by the White Bone Ring swept across the book cover. "Kid, your enthusiasm for learning has waned lately."
"You've almost mastered the ancient language system. When do you plan to start learning the languages that involve extraordinary powers?"
"Uh, today?" Lorry chuckled awkwardly.
That's the truth; he's been quite busy lately and has indeed neglected this aspect.
"That's more like it," Sebastian muttered under his breath, though his tone suggested he was quite satisfied with Lorry's answer.
This is also reflected in his next words:
"Can."
Upon hearing this, Lorry breathed a sigh of relief and quickly took out the ritual materials he had prepared in advance, setting up the Ritual of Offering Knowledge according to his previous memory.
This was the shortcut he had been racking his brains for.
The Book of Calamities is entirely written in Elvish, and I haven't mastered it yet; learning a new language is no easy task.
If there's no rush, learning Elvish from scratch isn't out of the question.
The problem is that "Sea God" Kalvetua won't last more than a few days. By the time he learns Elvish from scratch, it will be too late...
Three minutes later, the ceremony was completed.
Lorry tidied up the table and sat down to wait patiently.
A short while later, an aged voice rang out:
"Kid, your wish is probably not going to come true."
"The book doesn't contain what you're looking for; it only records the life and deeds of a high Elf named ' Cohinem.'"
Upon hearing this, Lorry was not disappointed and nodded calmly.
The result was neither unexpected nor surprising; it was just one of several directions he had speculated on, and his recent busyness served as a way of eliminating a Error option.
It's not a big problem.
At this moment, Sebastian asked:
"Kid, according to the rules, you have two choices."
"First, the cost of storing the Sealed Artifact for future use, counted as ten times; second, the exchange for Mysticism knowledge of equivalent value."
Which one do you want to choose?
Lorry said without hesitation:
"The latter.
"Uh, the types lean towards divination, Anti-Divination techniques and rituals."
"Very good." Sebastian said with a smile, his tone implying "I have high hopes for you," urging Lorry to prepare the Bestowal Ritual as soon as possible.
Without wasting any words, Lorry directly produced the relevant materials.
The ritual was simple and straightforward; after Bestowal equivalent knowledge, the White Bone Ring urged him to return to another Dimension.
Having fulfilled the old man's wish, Lorry began studying the new knowledge he had acquired.
After sorting, they were divided into two parts.
The first part covers more advanced divination and Anti-Divination techniques, which allow for better communication with the Spirit World and are more effective than ordinary techniques such as Dream Divination.
The second part involves relatively complex rituals.
The underlying principle is similar to using materials from the corresponding field to impersonate devout Believer of different God and achieve one's goals by borrowing their power.
For example, one could ask the Evernight Goddess for protection as Believer of her.
Once the ritual is successful, it can last for an extended period of time in Concealment. It is no exaggeration to say that its effects far surpass any existing Anti-Divination method.
